Story
Hola! My name is OBI and here is some info about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Yorkie/Corgie mixAge: 2 yearsGender: MaleWeight: 15lbs (6.8 kg) Height: 38 cm (paws to top of my head)Length: 60 cm (head to butt)Current Location: MEXICO CITY RESCUE STORY - I was abandoned with my five brothers by my family when my parents got divorced. When we arrived at the shelter, we were very dirty and thin. Here is a video of me and my siblings when we first arrived. Luckily, the kind hoomans at the shelter cleaned us and fed us and we are now back in excellent health! I am ready to start my new life with a loving family on the West Coast! Here is a video of me and my brother. Here I am at the shelter. TEMPERAMENT - The hoomans at my shelter say I am a noble, very obedient, tender and affectionate little guy. I love getting pets and giving love to my people. I also love to play with other dogs of all sizes and will even share my food with my pals at the shelter. I am a big fan of croquettes, chicken and tortillas! I love to play with the ball and will invite you to play with me by fetching sticks for you! I am told that I am a lovable little guy and I have SO much love to give! I only have one weakness - I LOVE my brother Chewy. We do everything together. We even sleep together! I am very sad when we are separated and cry because I miss him. I am really hoping to find a loving family that will take care of my brother Chewy and I forever and never abandon us again! Here we are together - aren't we cute!? ENERGY LEVEL - Medium - I am a playful pup who loves to be with people and other dogs! I am sweet and affectionate and love to snuggle! GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Unknown. Dogs –  Yes. I play with dogs of all sizes at the shelter and will even share my food with them! Here I am at the dog park.Cats – Unknown.  PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – Good. I am happy when out for walks! As with most young dogs, I will need an adopter who is happy to work with me on my leash manners. A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help set me up for success! Here is a video of me out for a walk with the pack! And me walking alone on leash. House trained – Work in progress. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :) Please Note: WCP Dog Rescue partners with Unleashed Dog Training (Hannah Swain) to offer adopters one training session at a rate of $25 + tax and travel. Any subsequent sessions will be offered at standard rates. WCP also highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.  HEALTH NOTES: I am spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records.I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying North.NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter. ADOPTION FEE: My adoption fee is $700.00 CAD + applicable taxes, which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver. ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and its adoption process. The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible. I once had a home of my very own, but my “owners” decided to abandon me and my siblings in the midst of their divorce. Abandoned, all five of us, just because they thought we were in their way! We were all in pretty sad shape upon being rescued, covered in dirt and very thin. It was clear that we were not being well cared for. Thank goodness for our rescuer, they brought all of us to the shelter (see us arriving, here)! I am now healthy, thriving, and ready to find my forever family!  TEMPERAMENT - I’ve been told that I have great manners and am very intelligent. You could say I'm a smarty-pants! ENERGY LEVEL - Medium - I enjoy playing with hoomans and my fellow doggos! Fetching the ball is my most favorite, I won’t be shy asking you to play along! Here I am playing with my stick! And here is my fainting trick! While I love to play, I also like to chill out with my brothers, especially my brother Obi! We are the best of pals! When we are apart I miss him so much and tend to bark so that we can be reunited. I really hope that we can find a loving home, together!  GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Unknown. I haven’t had much exposure to kiddos here at the shelter.  Dogs –  You betcha! I love spending time with my siblings and my pals here at the shelter. I get along well with dogs of all sizes! No signs of resource guarding. Here's a video of me with the pack! And another video of me with other doggos. Cats – Unknown. My past experience with kitties is unknown.   PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – Work in progress. I’m still learning, as you can see in this video and this video, I can get a little distracted and many times I’m walking in a group setting (video here). I will need an adopter who is happy to work with me on my leash manners. A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help set me up for success! House trained – Work in progress. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :) Please Note: WCP Dog Rescue partners with Unleashed Dog Training (Hannah Swain, Balanced Dog Trainer) to offer adopters 50% off one training session (not including tax and applicable gas surcharges). Story
Hello, my name is Dennie (Benny) and here is a bit about me:Breed: Maltese/Poodle mixAge: 2 yrsGender: maleWeight: 13 lbsHeight: 9-1/2 inchesHighlight(s): cuddly, smart, patient, quiet, sweet, calm You'll find I am a serene and sweet pupper. I am fluffy and soft and just love to cuddle up on a loving lap.You see life was a tad rough for me and I was hurt by someone who was supposed to love me. He was a drug addict though. So neighbors saved me from him multiple times. Until finally at 7 months old, a neighbor who found me in really bad shape. In fact, with 2 broken bones and paralyzed. They dropped me off at the shelter. I was almost euthanized by the vet, but my rescuer looked into my eyes and saw life and hope. I’ve always had hope and felt I was meant for a better life, so I guess she got the message from my big brown eyes, that I was meant to live!  https://youtube.com/shorts/Kr2IwLcW_xU?si=_SnfdVeuQLtTjo2SThank goodness my eyes can speak and are so expressive! My rescuer fought for my life and so did I. It took 3 months for recovery and I have plates in my leg. Not to worry, I can walk and run around fine playing with the other dogs. You would not believe what a good boy I am. I am never aggressive and really only bark when I am scared of some big dog. I am quite happy now: https://youtu.be/6-BV7gcj_cY and just know the right new owner will adopt me soon. I don’t mean to brag, but I am quite soft and fluffy and cute, and I have overheard them saying how smart, patient and quiet I am. I kind of hope I meet my match, someone who is almost like my soul mate and is also patient, calm and kind. Someone who talks kind to me, lets me cuddle in their lap, protects me from bigger dogs, understands my sense of adventure and my love for toys! I’m only 2 after all, so I am still into toys and I am pretty curious, since exploring is how I learn best!I am eager to follow commands and learn new things. I just wish I had my house training under control. I am hoping I can get it right, but right now the vet is not certain if the damage to my spine is permanent or temporary and only time will tell. So I still have some #2 accidents. I was in a crate for a very long time and now I just want a loving lap and a fresh start with someone I can be my loving self with. I hope you are my match! I'm in love with attention from kids too and showering my affections on them, as well: https://youtu.be/S0XuZYp3eTQ,  https://youtu.be/m4g4KYjxUS0.  Energy Level: moderate to moderate lowI get along with:Dogs: yesCats: yes, searching for videoKids: yes Fears: just big dogs right now. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. [MID-EAST] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East. [TURKEY] *Dogs receive 4D SNAP tests - which include: Heartworm, Ehrlichiosis, Leishmania and Anaplasmosis. ##1956227##

Teeheehee. Hi, my name is Geena (Tina) and here is a little info about me:Breed: Maltese mixAge: 7 yrsGender: femaleWeight: 4 kgHeight: 20 cmHighlight(s): kind-hearted, calm, mostly blind, cuddly Ok, I have a super sniffer. I have to in order to get around well. Just a middle aged pupper looking for her second half home.Found  by my rescuer in a park in the Middle East without an owner, she tried to find my family, but nobody came forward. Likely dumped there, as often happens in my country when people tire of having a dog. I know, so sad. They may have abandoned me, because I am no longer a spry, playful puppy. This is due to the fact one of my eyes is pretty well blind and the other has poor vision. I have cataracts. No worries, I still get around just fine. Please no interior decorators rearranging furniture all the time. LOL. I currently live with a foster, but she can't hold me long, as the Landlord doesn't want any dogs there. Again, typical my country. Double sad.I'm a kind-hearted dog, who just wants to light up your life with happiness. You know dynamite in a small package. Only the explosion you'll get is pure love. I'll stay close, keeping you warm. I generally do my business on pee pads, though occasionally make a mistake. I'm sure once we get a routine of going putside, it will be much better. In my country it is also illegal to walk dogs outside. TRIPLE sad, right?I'd prefer a home where my person is home most of the time, as I do fine for about 2 hours, then start to bark. Hey, I don't know where you are after a while. I enjoy sleeping next to you and snuggling though.
