Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/. Please note that because all our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be about within an hour of Wilmington, DE for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit. Meet Pinky! Pinky is an 8-year-old, 3.5 pound Yorkie who was surrendered to a shelter by her owners. She was skinny and matted and had mammary masses on her body. Pinky was brought to our rescue and lovingly cleaned up. She received a dental and had her masses removed. (All benign!) Pinky has a cataract in one eye and has limited sight, but it doesn’t slow her down at all. Her foster mom is working on pee pad training, and it will be a continual process. Pinky prefers to be the only dog in the home. Although she is good on leash, Pinky can be reactive to other dogs. A quieter neighborhood or fenced-in yard is ideal for this little lady. Pinky doesn’t require any medication and has no problems with stairs. She is good with being picked up and would be happiest with older children or in an adult-only home. Pinky isn’t crate trained but does well hanging out in a large pen where she has room to run around. Pinky might be picky with dogs, but she loves her people and is friendly with everyone she meets. She isn’t much of a lap dog but enjoys hanging out with the family and cuddling on the couch. She will happily follow her foster mother all over the house. Pinky enjoys sleeping in her dog bed, getting treats and going for car rides. This tiny pup needs a home that is just right. Can it please be yours? Apply today!

Story
Hello, I'm Legacy! I'm a super cute, super sweet little gal who is searching for a forever family! I was surrendered to the shelter when my family was losing their housing and needed a safe place for me to go. I'm around 6 months young so I may get a smidge bigger than my current 8 pounds, but I have lots of love to give my new family! I'm working on learning a few tricks, but I'm a bit shy here at the loud shelter to show them to you. I'm so sweet and social, so may do well with other animals or kids in the home, if you all come to visit me! Hopefully I'll meet my new humans soon!   Have Room in Your Home? Welcoming in a pet saves your new pet's life and creates space for another pet to get a chance! Not sure if Legacy would be the best fit for you? Send in a generic app! Our team will work with you to find a pet to best fit your lifestyle! You will go home with a starter bag of food, one month of flea and heartworm prevention, and also have 90 DAYS of training help included with your adoption, if needed! Story
Lizzie was adopted from a hoarder situation. She is up to date with all shots and is now healthy. Unfortunately they had to pull all of her teeth. But that doesn’t stop her from eating. She eats everything. She loves pork chop bones. She is fine with other dogs and children as long as they don’t stay too long. She needs to be in a home where she is the only dog and no children so she can get 100% of the cuddles. If you are home most of the time would be even better. She is a sweet pup but she has issues being brought up in a home with 82 other dogs. She is house broken some but needs more training. She will go outside but you need to watch for the signals. She will use a pee pad most times. I hate having to give her up. I’ve had her for 9 months and she still hasn’t accepted my other pup. Lizzie is 8 years old and runs around the back yard like she is 1. She loves riding in a car. She loves sleeping next to you. She needs to be loved.
