Visit us on the web at https://fur-everpaws.com/fur-ever-paws-adoption-application/ to submit an application. Please contact the foster directly at 302-312-5129 (text or call) or via email at fureverpawsdogrescue@gmail.com Fur Ever Paws Dog Rescue is a small no kill rescue operating in the Delaware/Maryland area. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit that rescues and places homeless, neglected or abused dogs from high-kill shelters in the south into loving, responsible committed and permanent homes. We feel our comprehensive adoption process which includes not only taking the time to match the dog to the prospective new owner but helping to educate that owner in responsible dog care, allows us to find the best homes for our little buddies and the best companions for you! Each week we use USDA certified transports to bring dogs from high-kill shelters in the south to our fosters where they all receive the appropriate medical care and are placed in nurturing loving homes while they await placement in their forever homes. Interested in one of our dogs? Great! Now that you've seen them here you'll need to go to our website where you'll find our list of adoptable dogs (updated every week). Then, it's just a simple process of finding a dog you're interested in and filling out an application on our site. Once we receive your application, whoever is fostering that particular dog will contact you and do a short over the phone interview to complete your application process. If everything works out, they will set an appointment with you so come out and "visit" with the dog you're interested in (we want to make sure that not only are you a good fit for the dog but that the dog will fit with you). If everything works out, you'll be able to take rover (or spot, or jax) home with you that very day. A couple of things you should know: We can't hold dogs over the phone or via email. Adoption fees vary based on breed. All of our dogs have been vet checked and dewormed (if possible due to age, additional treatment may be needed). We provide a spay or neuter voucher to all of our adopters. &#226&#128&#139 June 17, 2024, 6:15 pm

Story
BUDDY is a 6 to 7-year-old terrier, who was found as a stray but never claimed by his owners. He spent a couple of years with his finder but due to his resource guarding – mainly with food, and his favorite people – he was turned over to us. Buddy was prescribed a lot of different medications for anxiety which we are weaning him off of to work on the root of the problem. We agree with the vet's assessment that Buddy needs his RDA of exercise, mental stimulation and training/boundaries.  We are looking for an active home, ideally one where he could go to work with his people and get lots and lots of walking. Although he looks like a Yorkie he has more of the personality of a Jack Russell terrier.  Buddy is active and athletic, approximately 20 pounds. Buddy has been neutered, vaccinated, tested negative for Heartworms and is microchipped. Adoption $200. If you are the family Buddy is looking for, please fill out an application at www.companimals.org prior to making an appointment to see him.June 16, 2024, 9:13 pm

Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/. Please note that because all our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be about within an hour of Wilmington, DE for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit. Meet Pinky! Pinky is an 8-year-old, 3.5 lb, Yorkie who was surrendered to a shelter by her owners. She was skinny and matted and had mammary masses on her body. Pinky was brought into our rescue and lovingly cleaned up. She received a dental and had her masses removed. (All benign!) Pinky has a cataract in one eye, but her other eye is healthy. She can see and move around with no problems. Pinky’s foster mom is working on pee pad training. Pinky is a smart dog that aims to please and we feel with continued routine, she will get there. Pinky is currently fostered with another small dog and might do well with another dog with slow introductions or she could be the only dog in the home. Pinky likes going for walks, however she can be reactive to other dogs, and will need someone to continue to work with her on leash reaction. A quieter neighborhood or fenced-in yard is ideal for this little lady. Pinky doesn’t require any medication and has no problems with stairs. She is good with being picked up and would be happiest with older children or in an adult-only home. Pinky isn’t crate trained and likes to have her own space when her humans aren’t home. Pinky might be picky with some dogs, but she loves her people and is friendly with everyone she meets. She isn’t much of a lap dog but enjoys hanging out with the family and cuddling on the couch. She will happily follow her foster mother all over the house. Pinky enjoys sleeping in her dog bed, getting treats and going for car rides. She is being fostered in Wayne, PA. This tiny pup needs a home that is just right. Can it please be yours? Apply today!

Story
Lizzie was adopted from a hoarder situation. She is up to date with all shots and is now healthy. Unfortunately they had to pull all of her teeth. But that doesn’t stop her from eating. She eats everything. She loves pork chop bones. She is fine with other dogs and children as long as they don’t stay too long. She needs to be in a home where she is the only dog and no children so she can get 100% of the cuddles. If you are home most of the time would be even better. She is a sweet pup but she has issues being brought up in a home with 82 other dogs. She is house broken some but needs more training. She will go outside but you need to watch for the signals. She will use a pee pad most times. I hate having to give her up. I’ve had her for 9 months and she still hasn’t accepted my other pup. Lizzie is 8 years old and runs around the back yard like she is 1. She loves riding in a car. She loves sleeping next to you. She needs to be loved.

Story
Pepper has vision. He would prefer to be the only dog. Loves people and cuddling, velcro and will follow you everywhere. Meet Pepper! Pepper was surrendered to a shelter at 13 years old. His history prior to that is unknown. He was saved from the shelter by a local organization who also started his vetting, and he came to us about two weeks later. In spite of all this, Pepper is quite a character! He has a lot of personality, definitely knows what he wants and doesn't want, and will let you know. And what he wants is this ... Pepper feels he has one very important job, and more than anything, he wants to do his job well. That job is to be. with. you. No matter where you are, day or night, Pepper wants to be with you, and he will love you with everything he has in his little 8 pound body. If he is not with you, he will not hesitate to let you know how upset he is. He's a great cuddler and would spend the entire day cuddling in my lap if he could. He would love to keep you warm on those cool fall and winter days! Shortly after arriving at his foster home, Pepper had an urgent dental (20 teeth were extracted, he has six bottom teeth remaining and will need to eat soft food for the rest of his life), was neutered, saw the ophthalmologist (he has nuclear sclerosis in both eyes and a healed corneal ulcer in his right eye), and was diagnosed with hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid), for which he takes Levothyroxine twice a day. He will need to have regular blood work to monitor his thyroid. Two lumps removed from his forehead were apocrine gland cysts and completely benign. He is nicely managed on pain medication and a joint supplement for arthritis and bilateral luxating patellas, and even runs everywhere! He's also attempted, with some success, to climb over baby gates. Pepper goes through phases where he drinks and urinates quite a bit more than usual, but testing so far has not shown a cause. Housebreaking continues to be a slow work in progress and he is unable to go through the night without urinating. Pepper is fine with the other three dogs in his foster home, but is jealous and upset if he is not getting all of the attention. The other three dogs here are timid and small like he is, and if one is where Pepper wants to be, he will just lay down on top of that dog. Pepper would prefer a home where someone is home most of the time and where he could be your only dog, or with only one other quiet small dog. Due to his size, a home without young children is recommended, and he will also require an understanding owner who is able to carefully monitor any changes in his appetite, behavior, or pottying. Pepper reminds me of a used car. He's a bit banged up, scratched, and is missing paint in some areas, but with lots of love and good maintenance, he'll keep going and going and going! :) BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Story
Zeke is an almost 7 year old neutered male yorkie who weighs 5 pounds. This adorable little stud is as cute as they come and such a good boy. He loves attention and to be held by his people. Zeke has never lived in a home and is working on potty training, but he is catching on and doing well. He has tested great with other dogs and we promised that he will have a family of his own in no time.
