Story
Adorable jagger is a sweet little boy. Needs a home where there are not a ton of visitors. He lost his home because his previous owner had to move her injured mother into her home and when rehab personnel nurses etc had to come he was very very protective. Barking. Trying to nip. Being protective of his people. He needs a home where he knows he can be a playful sweet pup and is clear that he doesn’t have to be in charge. Lap dog.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Harvey is a sweet, little, older boy who was surrendered to PRBJ when his owner was no longer able to care for him. He is very friendly and likes other dogs. His owner said that he has been around kids of various ages and has done well; however, due to his age, we are recommending an adult home with no kids or older teens. Harvey is a little overweight and will need an owner that will help him lose weight and stay active. He still has a lot of energy for a senior guy and plays like a youngster with my large and small dogs in the yard. He needs a FENCED YARD as he runs like the wind. Harvey is very vocal when crated, but we think he will be quiet when freely roaming in his new house. He has a slight eye impairement...senior  dogs typically do....but he sees just fine.  Yorkie owners should be up for regular, 6 week, groomng appointments to keep their coat and ears clean and free of mats.Harvey would do best in a home with an owner who is home and can take him out on a regular basis to potty. Also, he is really attentive to my husband. He follows him everywhere. So if there is perhaps a retired gentleman who is looking for a buddy, this is your guy.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 27, 2024, 12:00 pm

Story
Pepper has vision. He would prefer to be the only dog. Loves people and cuddling, velcro and will follow you everywhere. Meet Pepper! Pepper was surrendered to a shelter at 13 years old. His history prior to that is unknown. He was saved from the shelter by a local organization who also started his vetting, and he came to us about two weeks later. In spite of all this, Pepper is quite a character! He has a lot of personality, definitely knows what he wants and doesn't want, and will let you know. And what he wants is this ... Pepper feels he has one very important job, and more than anything, he wants to do his job well. That job is to be. with. you. No matter where you are, day or night, Pepper wants to be with you, and he will love you with everything he has in his little 8 pound body. If he is not with you, he will not hesitate to let you know how upset he is. He's a great cuddler and would spend the entire day cuddling in my lap if he could. He would love to keep you warm on those cool fall and winter days! Shortly after arriving at his foster home, Pepper had an urgent dental (20 teeth were extracted, he has six bottom teeth remaining and will need to eat soft food for the rest of his life), was neutered, saw the ophthalmologist (he has nuclear sclerosis in both eyes and a healed corneal ulcer in his right eye), and was diagnosed with hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid), for which he takes Levothyroxine twice a day. He will need to have regular blood work to monitor his thyroid. Two lumps removed from his forehead were apocrine gland cysts and completely benign. He is nicely managed on pain medication and a joint supplement for arthritis and bilateral luxating patellas, and even runs everywhere! He's also attempted, with some success, to climb over baby gates. Pepper goes through phases where he drinks and urinates quite a bit more than usual, but testing so far has not shown a cause. Housebreaking continues to be a slow work in progress and he is unable to go through the night without urinating. Pepper is fine with the other three dogs in his foster home, but is jealous and upset if he is not getting all of the attention. The other three dogs here are timid and small like he is, and if one is where Pepper wants to be, he will just lay down on top of that dog. Pepper would prefer a home where someone is home most of the time and where he could be your only dog, or with only one other quiet small dog. Due to his size, a home without young children is recommended, and he will also require an understanding owner who is able to carefully monitor any changes in his appetite, behavior, or pottying. Pepper reminds me of a used car. He's a bit banged up, scratched, and is missing paint in some areas, but with lots of love and good maintenance, he'll keep going and going and going! :) BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Story
Meet Magic Brian! This Yorkie-Doxie blend is just one year old and weighs 10 lbs. As his name suggests, this very special dog brings wonder and happiness to his people. He is looking for an equally special family who can support him and love him forever. General Behavior: Don’t like long walks? Neither does Magic Brian! Brian uses his front legs to get around and does not have formed back feet. When moving he walks with his front legs and hops on his back legs. When he stops he almost immediately sits. Because of his mobility issues, he is not a dog who can go on long walks but he is happy being carried or in a puppy sling. This easy-going guy is very adaptable and has enjoyed going in the car to the patio at the local pub. He was happy to meet new people, watch the chickens walk around, and was not bothered by the sounds of the TV or anyone around him. He is not a kisser and will happily sit next to you or on your lap but you have to be the one to put him on and off furniture or have a ramp to make it accessible. Likes & Dislikes:  Magic Brian really does enjoy just sitting and watching the world go by. He sits on the back patio looking at the squirrels or inside he finds the tiny window by the front door to watch the birds at the feeder. He also really enjoys chewing larger stuffed toys and rope toys. He is still learning that shoes are not toys. He is still a puppy so the house needs to be baby-proofed from cords. Training: Magic Brian has the makings of a little gentleman. He is doing GREAT at house training if let out frequently. He is good in the car and walks well on a leash, his feet notwithstanding. He is very curious and will try and open cabinets and puts everything in his mouth. He has made HUGE improvements but will still need guidance and patience as he is still a relatively young dog who is learning. Medical: Magic Brian doesn’t let his back paws slow him down! He has no special medical requirements and will just need his monthly flea and heartworm preventatives, like any dog. Other Animals:  Magic Brian can be very afraid of other dogs, so he would need a home with other small, calm dogs only. He hasn’t been observed around cats, but his foster thinks he’d be OK with them. Children: Due to Magic Brian’s mobility issues, he would need a home with kind, understanding children only (ages 8-10+ or teens). Home: Magic Brian whines and cries when left alone. He will need someone (human or dog) to be home with him the majority of the time, as he has never been alone his whole life. Magic Brian cannot do stairs and he cannot swim, so he can’t be in a home where he would ever be unattended around stairs or a pool. Grooming: Magic Brian will probably need grooming about every 6-8 weeks. Overall: Magic Brian is getting his first taste of home life and so he needs a person who understands that and gives him grace. Do you need a companion to take to pubs, to sit with you on the patio, and to cheer you on while you run errands? Then adopt Magic Brian! Visit our website www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You’ll be put in contact with his foster family if it’s a match. He is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption donation is $500. ##1996324##
