Story
Brooklyn & Jack are bonded and must be adopted together. Meet Brooklyn & Jack!  Our names are Brooklyn and Jack. We’ve been together for a very long time, are bonded and come as a perfect package.  We are both affectionate, communicative and confident.  We also have some of our own individual traits, but we always like to be together. Brooklyn – I’m a 10-lb. tan and white Yorkie/Maltese girl with 13 years of life experience.  I’m a self-proclaimed “couch potato” who is also gentle, patient, quiet and independent. And, I've got great ears! I’m slower in movement, unless I’m heading to my food bowl.  Give me a soft chair/couch and I am good to go! Jack -  I’m an 8-lb. white Maltese boy and I’m 12 years old. I’m laid back, snuggly, adventurous, and an enthusiastic “wiggle-butt”.  While we both get a little anxious at times, I get more anxious when my sister is not around and will tell everyone about it. I like to be near her all of the time and, fortunately, she doesn’t seem to mind one bit. Thunderstorms and being left alone also are scary, so I sometimes take medication to help me feel calmer during these times.  Their Favorite Things : These sidekicks enjoy daily walks and getting out and about.  Brooklyn does tire faster than Jack but will gladly take her spot in a stroller so the walk can continue. Toys?  Neither really care much about them. Brooklyn loves lounging on a couch.  Jack is a fan of peanut butter and will gladly lick it from a spoon.  But above all . . . Jack’s favorite thing is Brooklyn and Brooklyn’s favorite thing is Jack. Training & Manners: They both are happy to report they have good basic manners, walk well on a leash, and love car rides. Health & Care: Both are doing great in their senior years. Brooklyn does require a special gastrointestinal/low fat canned food.  Jack is a toothless wonder with his tongue out, and he requires canned food as well. He also takes medication for those scary times, but it is very inexpensive. Both require ongoing heart medication, which averages about $60.00 a month each.  Here’s the cool thing . . . PPR has agreed to cover their heart medication AND Brooklyn’s food for 6 months to their adopter . . . How “PAW”some is that??  They are low maintenance and should only need occasional grooming, baths (which they LOVE) and nail trims. Other Animals: They have experience with and love dogs of all sizes.  They haven’t been exposed to cats yet, but we think they would be fine with a feline friend. Children:  They don’t currently live with kids but older kids (8+) would be just fine.  They just have to be respectful of their small size and age. Ideal Home:  Because Jack can be a bit vocal when his people leave, a single-family home would be needed.  Jack can be a bit of a stinker, and he thinks he is an escape artist at times.  Therefore, they should never be outside of the house unless they are leashed.  Of course, a securely fenced yard would be nice too, but not a requirement.   They would also love it if their people were home more often than not.  They stay in a secure area in their foster home and sleep in the “people bed” at night.   They both do great with house training and will let you know when they need to go outside. Overall: If you are looking for two amazing senior dogs who are sure to entertain you, we might be the perfect duo for you.  Do you think this team could be the ones for you?  If so, visit www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org to fill out an adoption application. If it seems like it could be a good match, their foster family will reach out with more information. Their adoption donation is $300 for the PAIR! ##2400154##

Story
Kerfuffle is an 11-pound, 9-year-old Yorkie mix. Though he’s a bit scared and cautious right now, with patience and kindness, Kerfuffle will warm up to you on his own terms. Once he trusts you, this sweet little guy will keep your lap warm and your hands busy because he loves belly rubs. He’s also a great snuggler and will keep you entertained with his charming personality. Kerfuffle needs a patient and loving home that can give him the time he needs to adjust and feel safe. He does have his momments when he is nippy, so no young children for him. PLEASE NOTE: All your current pets must be spayed/neutered, vaccinated and on heartworm prevention to adopt from Polka Dogz. We only adopt in Florida. All adoption fees go to help all the dogs in the rescue, some of which require extensive medical care. Thank you for caring for the greater good. Adoption fee is $200 and you can adopt me at www.polkadogz.org.  ##2253121##

Story
Update 4/5/25: Hello everybody, its me Lexi with an update as what I have been doing lately. Well, I am still chasing those lizards in the backyard. There are so many more to chase now that its warm outside. I just love to be outside in my big backyard. Its so much fun. My foster mommy says I have come such a long way and that I am such a good little girlie. You remember that I was abused as a puppy and I have to learn to trust in my person. Well, I have learned to trust everyone in my foster home and I love them all! I sleep in bed with my foster mommy. I like to snuggle up against her. She doesnt particularly like it but I do and she lets me get my way! When morning comes, I wake her up with a big kiss and gently put my paw on her face to make sure she gets up because I am hungry and I want to eat and go outside to play. I get along very well with the other little doggies in the home. Dont know about kitties as I havent met one yet. I have learned that a persons touch is not going to hurt me but is because they love me. I am completely housebroken. Love playtime and a big back yard to run and play in. I also like to take walks and go for car rides. I just snuggle down in my car seat and enjoy the ride. Oh! Just so you know, Im really afraid of thunder. If there is a storm I want to be held and cuddled. I can get a little excited sometimes so maybe a home with no young kids is best for me. If you feel you have the pawfect home for me please fill out an adoption application or reach out through my foster mommys eMail and she will answer any questions you may have. Got to go! The lizzards are calling me to play a game of catch me if you can. Update 3/7/25: Meet Lexi a 3 year old 15lb Morkie (Maltese Yorkie). Lexi is a very sweet little girlie that has a past of being abused as a puppy. Due to her previous abuse she has become very guarded around newcomers. For this reason, she needs an owner that has lots of patience and will give Lexi all the time she needs to settle into a new home. She is a very active young dog and for this reason requires a fenced backyard. Also, Lexi must be the only dog in the home, with no children living in the household and someone that is home most all day to give Lexi allot of time, affection and attention. Lexi has never had a permanent home as she was shuffled from relative to relative due to her previous owner traveling for work so much therefor, she is in need of a place that she can call her home. She is in the process of being leashed trained but still gets very excited when she sees another dog. Lexi loves to run and play in the backyard chasing lizards. She especially loves a game of Tug O War. She is a very sweet girl but will need time and patience to learn to trust her person due to her past abuse. Once she knows she can trust her person or family, you are her world. She also wants to snuggle and sleep up against you to make sure you are safe all night long. Condo living would not be an option for sweet Lexi as she is very protective of herself and her family and will bark if she hears something she feels signals danger. 1/23/25 Lexi is back! She was surrendered by her recent adopter because she wasnt getting along with the other dog in the home. It may be that Lex needs to be the only little pampered princess in the home. She a 3 year old ball of energy that loves to play. Lexi has has a few homes in her short life. She was removed from her first home at just 5 mos old as she was being abused as a small puppy. She was then adopted by a wonderful lady that eventually surrendered due to her feeling that she didnt have the time to commit to Lexi as she is a young energetic dog. Due to this, she has never had a stable place to live for very long and is so deserving of a home to call her forever home. Lexi loves to run and play in a fenced backyard chasing squirrels and lizards. Her ideal home would have a backyard for her to run and exercise in to work off some of her energy. A stay at home person would be ideal as she is young and needs frequent outdoor time. She is a great watch dog and is very loving and protective of her foster family. If you feel your home would be a fit for Lexi please fill out the adoption application to be considered. 01/06/2025 Lexi is a 3 year old 15lb Morkie owner surrender due to her past owner (out of feelings of love for what is best for Lexi) and not having enough time to give to this very active little girlie. According to Lexi's previous owner, she suffered from abuse as as a small puppy by her first owner and was removed from the home but shows no signs of even remembering the incidents and completely trusts and loves everyone she meets. This will be Lexi's third home since her birth and it MUST be her last and FOREVER home! She deserves to have a stable home with nothing but time, attention and lots of love. Since Lexi has been in foster care we have gotten to know Lexi's personality a bit over the past couple months. She loves attention, playtime and cuddles. She is absolutely a little sweetie. she loves to cuddle in bed at your feet where she feels she is protecting you. She does get along with other dogs in the home but can be a bit much for a much smaller dog as she is very active and wants to play hard sometimes and can be intimidating to very small dogs. Her prefered home would have a dog her approximate size and age that loves to play as much as Lexi does. Lexi has discovered lizards and loves to chase them in her outdoor time. She also loves a good game of Tug O' War! A fenced backyard would be awesome to run and play and wear out some of her activeness but is not a deal breaker. She just loves outdoor time. Lexi is also very much a great watch dog and spends her time in the window making sure no one gets near her home or her foster family that doesn't belong there. She gives off a good loud bark if she feels or sees someone getting to close to her backyard. Lexi is housebroken but needs help with leash training as she pulls when walking on a leash. This is an easy correction with a little time and just learning to walk by her person. She is very smart and catches on quickly. She will have her dental prior to her adoption. If you feel your home would be a great fit for this amazing little girlie please fill out the adoption application to be considered. Updated Bio 12-10-2024 Hi everybody, Lexy here.
