Story
Hello Everyone! We are Toby and Keith! Toby and Keith are a bonded pair of Yorkshire Terrier mixes approximately 4 years of age. They are little, but they pack a big punch in loving. These guys were found wandering the street in the cold and hopped into a mail truck to find shelter with a friendly mailman! We are looking for a family willing to take both of these cuties together! Sometimes dogs can be separated from each other and can do well, but we definitely feel these two need to stick together. They cuddle together and they love taking walks together. Please fill out an application for these loving fellas if you are interested in opening your home to this small, but big-hearted duo.If you are interested in adopting us or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm.Our combined adoption fee is $400

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Story
MEET SPURZ: Age: 6 years (10/2/2018)Breed: Yorkshire TerrierWeight: 18 lbs Spurz is a charming little Yorkie who was surrendered by his family due to circumstances related to his owner’s dementia. His transition to foster care has brought out his sweet and happy nature, and he’s ready to find a forever home where he can thrive. Spurz is a friendly and social guy who loves meeting new people. He’s good with dog-savvy children and really enjoys the company of other dogs. Recently, he met a cat without any concerns, showcasing his adaptable nature. In his previous home, Spurz was not provided with routine potty time outside, as a result it has allowed his house manners to slip a bit. He’s currently working on crate training and may need some patience as he adjusts to proper house training again. He’s wearing a belly-band in his foster home to help manage any accidents while he relearns his manners. Spurz has a history of being given table scraps, but he’s now focusing on an appropriate canine diet and healthy eating habits. He enjoys going for walks and would do best in a fenced yard where he can explore safely. Spurz is looking for a loving and understanding forever family who will appreciate his playful spirit. He thrives on companionship and loves being with his people, so a home that can offer him the time and attention he craves would be perfect. If you’re ready to open your heart and home to this sweet little guy, Spurz is waiting for you!  Spurz is:Current on Rabies and DistemperDewormedHeartworm Tested: NegativeReceiving Heartworm and Flea PreventionMicrochippedScheduled to be neutered at our partner veterinary office. ADOPTION FEE: $375 IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS PET, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE HTTP://FUREVERTAILS.COM. Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. Story
Lewie is a sweet boy that was surrendered to us because the owner claimed to have allergies. He is about a year and a half old and weighs about 17 lbs. Lewie is a little shy at first but then just wants to be loved. He is neutered, UTD on required vaccines, HW tested negative and microchipped. He does seem to be housetrained. He is also a little shy around other dogs but would slowly warm up. He is not aggressive in any way but he is a little afraid at first. He just needs a safe secure loving home and family. Because of his initial shyness we will be looking for a home with no small children. If you would like to welcome this special guy into your family, please email omlc7@hotmail.com or dogs4mylife@gmail.com and we will send our info and application. Story
Winnie is living her best life since our volunteer rescued her from a previous owner who kept her in a crate living in a garage. When she first arrived she was scared from not being socialized and it took her some time to trust and relax. After just a couple weeks she is playful with the other smaller dogs and her personality has come out. She is very sweet and loving and has learned the ropes from the other dogs. She currently uses pee pads in the home. Winnie is approximately 1 year old and weighs approximately 8 pounds.

Story
Roxie~born~May 2013Special BreedI’m a diva. THERE! I SAID it!! And I’m proud of it! And I will LET you KNOW it! AND I will NOT STOP NAGGING you until I get what I WANT!! And I MEAN IT!! (My foster mom used to squirt water at me to “bring me out of it”, as she puts it, but now she just shows me the bottle, and I stop.)She squirted WATER at me!! Like I’m a CAT!! There’s a few of those here. I’ve let them know how I feel about THEM! Stupid things. When I got here, boy, I was MAD!!! For a whole WEEK I was mad! So mad that my foster mom gave me my OWN bedroom, with a screen door on it so I could get use to the other critters. Every time she came near me, I’d try to chew off her TOES!! She had to keep a leash on me so she could get me outside. And she had to pick it up QUICKLY, because I’d try to BITE her. But she’s really kind. And I was getting lonely, so I asked her politely if I could come out of my room and have her hold me. And, of course, she said yes (but she was a bit scared). She still kept my leash on me, just in case, but one morning she took a chance and QUICKLY unbuckled it. And I didn’t try to bite her.I’m from Florida. Oh, FLORIDA!! Where it’s ALWAYS warm…and sunny…not like Michigan, where it’s been cold and grey and rainy. I had a great life with my mom in Florida, but she died, so I went to live with her granddaughter here in Michigan. But she couldn’t give me the life she felt I deserved, so she was brave and gave me to PAAW so I could find another home. And I was SO MAD!!!It’s nice here at my foster home. I made some friends (but there’s another girl dog here that I don’t like, so I start fights with her). AND…I have a boyfriend! ooOOoo!! He’s a Yorkie. Like me. I still have my own bedroom . (Sometimes he comes in my bedroom with me, hee hee hee.) My foster mom tried moving my crate and my soft bed (it’s my very own, the one I had when I moved here) out of the bedroom, but I didn’t like it. So she moved me back into the bedroom. When I want to go there, I ask her politely (I can be NICE when I want to), and she lets me in. Sometimes I go in because I’m tired. Sometimes because I want to be alone. And sometimes because I’m in a BAD MOOD. And then I SULK! With my BACK to the DOOR! Sometimes when I’m in a bad mood, she sings my name to me over and over. And it calms me.I’m 10 years old. I don’t know my birthdate. I’ve had babies (cuz I’ve got boobies!).
