You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. &#226&#128&#139Scruffy is a sweet boy who was found in Detroit. He came with some missing hair but a great personality. He is very house trained and enjoys playing with other dogs. We think he is about 3 to 4 years old.  He can jump small fences so a fence that is at least 3 foot high is needed. He loves to lay in a lap and snuggle. We are working on him jumping on legs when you first come in. He does love his food and cannot be fed free choice because he will gobble everything right away. He's a happy boy. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. March 11, 2026, 10:43 pm

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application completely. Every question must be answered, and it must be signed.-Applicants must be 21+ years old and live within a 100-mile radius of our shelter at 22415 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren 48089.-You must identify at least 1 animal that you are interested in.-Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other options. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.

Story
Meet Maisey! Maisey is a sweet 3-year-old Yorkshire Terrier weighing just 9 pounds who is ready to start the next chapter of her life in a loving forever home. Recently rescued from a large hoarding situation in Detroit where she was living among more than 40 dogs, Maisey has proven to be a resilient little girl with a heart full of love. Despite her past, Maisey is incredibly social and outgoing. She absolutely adores attention and will happily soak up all the love you’re willing to give. She enjoys being around people and has a friendly, affectionate personality that makes her a joy to be around. Maisey gets along well with other dogs and has shown that she can coexist nicely with cats. She would likely do well with dog-savvy children who understand how to interact respectfully with small dogs. She has been doing very well with housetraining when kept on a consistent routine and is comfortable in a crate. As a typical Yorkshire Terrier, Maisey will require regular grooming to keep her coat healthy and looking her best. Because she hasn’t had much experience with leash walking yet, Maisey would do best in a home with a physically fenced yard where she can safely explore while continuing to build her confidence. With patience and guidance, she will continue learning the skills needed to thrive in her new life. Maisey is a loving little companion who has come a long way and is ready to find a family who will cherish her and give her the safe, happy life she deserves. If you’re looking for a small dog with a big heart, Maisey may be the perfect addition to your family. She’s ready to love you furever. Maisey is:Current on Bordetella, Distemper, and RabiesDewormedHeartworm Tested: NegativeReceiving Heartworm and Flea PreventionMicrochippedScheduled for spay surgery on 3/19 at our partner veterinary clinic in Chesterfield.ADOPTION FEE: $400 IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS PET, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE HTTP://FUREVERTAILS.COM. Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. We process applications ONLY - there is no guarantee that you will get a response to an inquiry. Many of the animals in our foster program come to us with limited or unknown histories. We make every effort to evaluate each animal’s temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different. While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. By proceeding with adoption or foster placement, applicants acknowledge and accept this inherent risk and agree that no guarantees, either expressed or implied, are made regarding the temperament or behavior of any animal placed through our program. FUREVER TAILS IS A NON-PROFIT, NO-KILL, FOSTER HOME BASED ANIMAL RESCUE BASED OUT OF OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, MI. OUR FOSTER ANIMALS ARE LIVING IN FOSTER HOMES AND TREATED LIKE FAMILY UNTIL THEY FIND THEIR OWN FUREVER FAMILIES. Story
Meet Lacey – A Little Dog with a Big Personality Lacey is a 2-year-old, 12-pound Yorkie mix who was found as a stray in Detroit and sadly was never reclaimed. While her past remains a mystery, one thing is certain—this little girl hasn’t let it dampen her joyful spirit. Lacey is a sweet, happy pup who is full of life and ready to find the loving family she deserves. Lacey is incredibly social and enjoys being around people and other dogs. She’s playful, energetic, and always ready for the next adventure. Whether she’s romping around in the yard or heading out for a walk, Lacey loves to stay active and explore the world around her. She does well with other dogs and tends to ignore cats. Because of her enthusiasm and energy, Lacey would do best with older, dog-savvy children who understand how to interact respectfully with a small dog. Lacey is crate trained and has demonstrated a good understanding of house manners in her foster home. Like many Yorkie mixes, she will require regular grooming to keep her coat healthy and looking its best. A fenced yard would be a great fit for Lacey, as she enjoys running and playing outdoors. She is not a good candidate for a tether system and thrives when she has space to safely move around and burn off some of her puppy-like energy. Lacey can also be a bit vocal at times, so she would likely not be the best match for apartment living. This lively little girl is looking for an active family who can keep up with her fun-loving personality and give her the love and commitment she deserves for the rest of her life. If you’re looking for a cheerful companion with a playful spirit, Lacey may be the perfect addition to your family. She’s ready to find her furever home!
