You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All dogs on our website ARE available and require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can be considered or meet any of our dogs.  Please submit an application now! The link to our application is at    https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC.        Hannah is a 10 year old Yorkshire/ Chi mix.   Hannah is lovable, sweet, and looking for a family that will continue to help her blossom into the confident, happy pup she was always meant to be.  She is friendly but is not a lap dog or a dog that begs to be cuddled.  Hannah loves her "den"—she’ll often sleep in her crate with the door open, content and cozy. She’s also housebroken and enjoys spending time outdoors in the yard, we take her out five times a day to stretch her legs and explore her world.   At first, she was fearful of the leash and would lie down while on it. She is making slow progress on a leash but a fenced-in yard would be ideal for Hannah. She loves to be outside lounging in the grass or on the deck. Hannah would do well in a home with a calm dog to help boost her confidence. She’s a little vocal when it comes to sharing space with our dogs, but it’s all part of her process of feeling comfortable and secure. She’s also shown that she can be independent and could do fine with an adopter who works away from the home during the day, especially if there’s another dog to keep her company.  She has had positive interactions with other dogs but has not been around children or cats. She’s generally a quiet dog, but can be vocal at times when she’s feeling talkative. Because she’s still a bit shy, a calm, understanding home would be the perfect environment for her to continue to grow. Hannah is looking for a family who will embrace her gentle nature and help her come out of her shell.  If you're ready to offer a loving home to a dog who truly deserves it, Hannah might be the dog for you.  EVERY DOG HAS A STORY:   Hannah was surrendered by her owner due to illness.  She lived her whole life with one family and is now looking for a new forever home. Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.  Applicants should live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore prefer applicants to live within an hours drive of Cary NC.  For the right perfect home for Hannah, we may  consider applicants who live a litter further.  INTERESTED IN ADOPTING HANNAH?  If so, please fill out our dog adoption application by copying and pasting this link in a new browser window:  https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 7, 2025, 9:48 pm

Story
Chip is an adorable 1 1/2 year-old, 10 pound Yorkie mix.  Chip's coat is coarse, which means low maintenance and low-to-no shed.   Chip is all terrier and an active and athletic little guy. He is quick and will dart for an open door, so his adoptive home needs to be prepared to manage a young dog and around outside doorways. When Chip came to us, he was unsure but learned to trust his foster mother and other women quickly; at the same time, he is slower to warm up to men.  Chip’s new owner needs to be patient and give Chip time to decompress until he becomes more secure in his new home.  Chip doesn’t mind being crated and is good at entertaining himself with toys. Like most terriers, Chip will bark when there is something to bark about.  He would be a great candidate for someone who wants to do clicker training and a good companion for a walker.  Chip is a dog you need to keep busy or he will figure out how to do that himself! The ideal home for Chip would be with someone who has experience dealing with unsure dogs and understands going slow and moving at Chip’s pace, and wants to bond with a dog through training and enrichment activities.  Chip will do best being the only dog in the home. The adoption range for this dog is limited to NC, SC, VA and East TN. If you are interested in adopting this dog, contact h2hadoptions@gmail.com. There is an application process and adoption fee. WE REQUIRE AN ALL-ADULT HOME WITH A SECURELY FENCED YARD.  The secure fence must be at least 4 feet with gaps no larger than 1 1/4 inch and attached to the home.  An invisible fence, enclosed patio or terrace without grass, temporary fencing, dog pens or dog lots or community shared fencing (dog park) are NOT considered secure fencing. If your fencing has "puppy pickets" (or is supplemented with garden fencing), it needs to be at least 36 inches high from the ground up AT THE LOWEST POINT. No exceptions. We are an all-volunteer organization, and in addition to saving dogs, we have other responsibilities, so we appreciate your patience and understanding during this process. Response time can take up to 5 business days. Please inquire only if you are willing to come to Greensboro, NC to meet the dog after we schedule your home visit. We do not ship dogs or put them on transports. Veterinary Care: All Hart-2-Heart Rescue foster dogs are spayed/neutered, current on heartworm prevention, parvo/distemper, bordetella, and rabies vaccines, and are professionally groomed. As needed, our foster dogs have teeth cleanings, extractions, bloodwork and other diagnostic testing. Adoption Fee: $500December 6, 2025, 8:02 pm

Story
Ga-leanda is a Yorkie mystery mix. She is 4 years old and 16 pounds of spunk, sweetness, and a little sparkle in her eyes.  Ga-leanda is house-trained, attentive, and always aware of what’s going on around her. She has that classic terrier spirit, with intelligence and full of curiosity. Ga-leanda happily follows her foster mom around the house. She plays with a few different types of toys, but the rope toy is her favorite! When she wants to play fetch, she will drop the rope in front of her foster mom and give a little tap just in case mom didn’t see the rope. She happily waits for her foster mom to throw it so she can dash across the room to retrieve it! Ga-leanda gets along well with other dogs and would thrive in a home that appreciates her clever mind and playful heart. She is the perfect blend of lively companion and loyal cuddle buddy with a heart that’s 100% love. Ga-leanda could be an only dog or have another small dog in the home who is under 20lbs. We would like Ga-Leanda's adoptive home to have a nice size yard where she can run around safely supervised off-leash in a space of her own. She enjoys it very much. Since Ga-leanda does love to be right by you, she tends to get underfoot and could easily be a trip hazard. She would not be a good fit for a home with someone with any balance issues. Ga-leanda requires combing and regular grooming and has done well for the groomer. The secure fence must be at least 4 feet or higher with gaps no larger than 2.5 inches and attached to the home. Story
Trixie is a charming 5 yr old Yorkshire Terrier mix, weighing in at a petite 8 pounds. With her adorable looks and possible touch of Maltese in her genes, Trixie is sure to steal your heart from the moment you meet her. Trixie bonds quickly and is loving, affectionate, and playful. She thrives on attention and enjoys being with her people. Her foster mom describes her as a wonderful snuggler who is happiest cuddled up next to you, especially at bedtime. Trixie is always ready to share her warmth and love, making her the perfect companion for someone seeking a devoted furry friend. Trixie is making great progress on leash walks and enjoys exploring with her human. However, she’s quick on her feet and will dart for an open door, so her adoptive family will need to be vigilant around exterior doorways and prepared to manage an energetic little dog. Trixie is still working on her housetraining skills, so patience and a willingness to continue her training are important qualities in her future home. While Trixie was surrendered with another Yorkie, we believe she would flourish best as the only dog in her new home. She loves getting attention from her foster family and tends to want all the affection for herself. If you’re looking for a sweet, loving companion who wants nothing more than to be your best friend, Trixie is the one for you. The adoption range for this dog is limited to NC, SC, VA and East TN. If you are interested in adopting this dog, contact h2hadoptions@gmail.com. There is an application process and adoption fee. Story
Pebbles is a delightful 5 yr old female Yorkshire Terrier who weighs just under 8 lbs. She’s an incredibly sweet and affectionate companion, already known for being an awesome snuggler who loves to curl up close. Pebbles walks well on a leash and gets along beautifully with other dogs and cats, making her a great fit for a home with other pets. In her foster home, she’s making excellent progress with house training and will use pee pads. While Pebbles can be a little hesitant around new people at first, it doesn’t take long for her to warm up—especially if you offer her a gentle scratch under her chin. Pebbles is happiest sleeping in bed with her foster parents and does great throughout the night.   The adoption range for this dog is limited to NC, SC, VA and East TN.
