Story
Keyoko is the sweetest girl you will ever meet. She had been living a good life until her owner died and she - and her buddy Zeus - suddenly found themselves at the shelter with nowhere to go. One of our wonderful fosters has agreed to take both of them in until we can find their new forever homes. In addition, a kind supporter has sponsored part of her adoption fee to help her get settled soon. At 8yrs old, Keyoko is still playful and loves to cuddle with her people. She is looking for a safe and loving home. If you think that could be yours, click on the big black button marked "Ask About Me" and we will send you an application. This dog is being fostered in TN but included in your adoption fee is transport to a location near you by Rescue Riders Pet Transport, the most animal-friendly transport on the road.

Story
She is a truly great dog—loyal, loving, and full of playful energy. She enjoys spending time with people and does very well with both adults and children. She is well‑behaved, housetrained, and knows to do her business outside. She will not make a mess in your home and is respectful of her space. Unfortunately, due to my neighborhood, where every household has dogs that constantly bark at each other and sometimes get into fights, the situation has become increasingly stressful for her and us. I do not want things to escalate or put her at risk. Because I care deeply about her well‑being, I am looking for a new home that offers her a more peaceful environment. She deserves a calm, loving place where she can continue to be the wonderful companion she is. Thank you for considering giving her the care and comfort she deserves.

Story
Meet Toby, a handsome adult (estimated age 2-3 years old) neutered male Akita mix who is every bit as sweet as he looks! This boy weighs about 55 lbs currently.  Toby can do a 1 week foster to adopt trial with an approved adopter so you can see how he settles in before committing to adoption. From Toby's current foster:  •He's great with kids•He's cautious of men, not women but once they show him love he's been great•Not cat tested but has shown prey drive seeing neighbors chickens•He's house broken but will have occasionally accidents if he's nervous or learning a new routine of what door to go out of•Very eager to please, loves calm and soft happy interaction •I'd say he would only do good in an apartment if he was actively being taken to the park and long walks often as he loves to explore to get energy out but otherwise he just wants to lay with you and hangout. •He's interacted with my female akita, with only my extreme supervision and stern but calm situation. They have trouble reading each other's body language but both seem to want to play. I believe with more dedicated patience and time working together they could be good together. He's a dominant dog, I'd recommend no other male dogs He is medically up to date, housebroken, and crate trained. Apply to meet this good boy today!  Click HERE for Adoption Application: pawsrescueleague.org/adopt Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. As a small rescue that does not receive government funding or grants, we rely on adoption fees to stay afloat. Adoption fees help cover the following: vaccinations, wellness exams, heartworm/4DX testing, parasite prevention, spay/neuter (age-appropriate), microchipping, transport expenses, and other rescue-related overhead/administrative costs. Paws Rescue League, Inc is an all-inclusive rescue that does NOT only rescue puppies and young, healthy dogs.  We make a point to also rescue seniors, dogs with special needs, moms, and other “less desirable” dogs, knowing that we will likely incur higher veterinary expenses and that these dogs may take longer to get adopted.  As such, an individual adoption fee is not only reimbursing PRL for expenses directly related to that dog, but it is also helping us to continue our mission of taking in dogs that would otherwise be too much of a financial burden to save. We believe that ALL dogs deserve a second chance. Thank you for your support and understanding! Story
Wolfie is a sociable, energetic boy who loves people and enjoys meeting other dogs, though he can be intimidating at first and may need a confident introduction before he settles in. He’s eager to play and he has a playful streak with water hoses that never fails to bring a smile. He weighs 89 pounds and is approximately 3-4 years old.??Wolfie is still learning the leash. He is learning to come when called and sits nicely when prompted. He is a homebody at heart, but he still needs plenty of exercise to burn off his occasional bursts of energy. He also enjoys walks with his humans.??Located in Houston, Texas. Transport to most states available for an additional fee of $300.

Good with dogs, Not good with cats, Needs special attention,
Story
Saki came to HHR by way of our rescue friends in GA. Saki was scheduled for euthanasia for being a special needs dog. She is at least partially hearing impaired and has a condition called cerebellar hypoplasia (CH). CH is a permanent condition caused by exposure to distemper while in utero. The exposure causes underdevelopment of the cerebellum in the brain- the part responsible for fine motor skills. CH does not affect Saki’s health, but it is the reason her head bobbles and she walks a little differently than other dogs. We think it only adds to her personality. She is a silly, playful, energetic girl that loves to run and play. She gets along with other dogs in her foster home but can also be a bit rude in the beginning because her condition leaves her less able to read cues from other dogs. Saki would be best suited for a home with adults or older kids (teens and up). Saki is about two and a half years old and weighs 58 lbs. She is spayed; vaccinated for rabies, distemper, and bordetella; microchipped; and recently treated for heartworm by our veterinarian. Saki is current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. Interested in meeting Saki? Please complete an application By visiting our website www.HalfwayHomeRescue.org. Adoption donation $500
