Meet Nairobi - A Gentle Giant with a Sweet SoulThis bio was written by her loving foster family: Nairobi is a stunning, big-hearted Akita tipping the scales at just over 100 pounds - but don't let her size fool you. She's incredibly gentle, calm and well-mannered with a soft, soulful presence that makes a house feel like a home.Friendly and approachable. While she can be a bit cautious when first meeting strangers, she warms up quickly when they give her a minute to assure herself that they are not a threat. Nairobi loves people and gets along well with other dogs she's met. She's affectionate in her own quiet way - not overly needy, but always happy to be near her people.She always wants to go with us when we leave and enthusiastically jumps in and out of the car when invited, but she has no separation anxiety when left behind. She dances around with extreme pleasure upon our return. On short walks, she walks beautifully on leash without pulling, stays calm around squirrels and deer, and is wonderfully non-reactive to the world around her. No bolting, no barking - just an easy, peaceful walking companion (although she'd prefer not to jog, thank you very much). Nairobi is completely house-trained and can hold it for long periods, though her foster family typically takes her out every four or so hours so as not to test her capacity.Though not high-energy, she does enjoy the occasional burst of zoomies and then settles back down into her chill, well-behaved rhythm. She knows basic commands, responds well to positive reinforcement, and is a good eater with no food aggression - you can even take a bone right out of her mouth.Nairobi is a good sleeper, doesn't require tons of exercise, and doesn't demand constant attention.
