**All dogs are by appointment only, please inquire through Petfinder, Adopt-a-pet, Rescueme.org or e-mail us directly at shelter@hbpets.org for the dogs questionnaire*** Meet Lucia, just over a year old, spayed female, Akita. Lucia is sweet, intelligent, strong-willed (like all Akita's), eager to learn, loves car rides and adventures. Lucia's ideal home would be someone with knowledge of the Akita breed, a fenced backyard, someone who will take her on adventures like hiking. She does well with calm male dogs of the same size or larger. If you are looking for a loyal, intelligent, adventure buddy, she is your gal. My adoption fee is $250

Story
Simba has spent too long waiting for his forever family. 💔 This strong and spirited Akita-Husky mix is full of energy, loves his toys, and is happiest on long walks or playing with his human. He’s sweet, loyal, and ready for the right home. If you’re looking for a dog with personality and heart, Simba is waiting to meet you! 🐕 Adopt Simba: https://form.jotform.com/221926016430144 Full profile: Simba is a 6-8-year-old Akita-Husky mix with the personality of an Akita and the heart of a lion. He’s playful, sweet, and full of energy but needs a confident and strong adopter who understands his needs. 💪 Strength & Training: Simba is powerful and can pull when excited, so he needs someone physically capable of managing his strength. He’s learning commands like sit, down, paw, and “potty” and thrives with structure. A harness might help with his pulling. 🐾 Energy & Personality: Simba is not always a couch potato! He loves long walks (2+ miles is no problem), playing with his toys, and getting plenty of attention. He’s affectionate and cuddly but always ready for adventure. 🏡 Home Needs: Simba would do best in a home without small children due to his strength and energy. He’s good with other dogs, especially more timid ones, but does best with boundaries around toys and space. He’s also quite the counter-surfer, so keeping things out of reach is key! 🐕 Health: Simba has a thyroid condition that is managed with treatment, giving him renewed energy and playfulness. Simba has had a lot of love and care from his foster, but he’s ready to find his forever home. If you’re looking for a strong, loyal, and playful companion, Simba could be your perfect match. 💙 Ready to meet Simba? Apply to adopt him and give this big-hearted boy the home he deserves. 📌 Share to help Simba find his forever home Currently being cared in Southern California, but can be transported up to northern states, such as Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and anywhere within the US continental, if a great suitable family is willing to adopt him.

These pups are in Salem, Oregon too!

Story
Hi there! My name is Luka, your best friend! My besties at OHS say I am a friendly, happy, silly, and handsome boy who is sure to make you smile and bring so much love into your life! I may be big, but that won't stop me from trying to be a lap dog. Snuggling with hoomans is just the best feeling ever!I LOVE to go on adventures, run, and explore! Being so high energy means I can become easily frustrated if my energy and exercise needs are not met. I will need positive outlets and a calm environment to help me flourish. I am also a pretty eager guy as I get so stoked for walks that I tend to pull. I can't help it; walkies are so much fun!My sense of adventure is so great that I have a history of escaping doors by bolting through them when they open. You will need to keep an eye on me when you open doors as I may want to visit the neighbors! I am super smart and love to learn though! Some treats and positive reinforcement would be a great way to work on this with me (and become fast friends!)While I love my people/friends, I can be shy and nervous around new people, new surroundings and handling. Including but not limited to medical/grooming and restraint. I will need someone who can help offer a little extra guidance and patience in these situations. Kids can overwhelm me too so I need to go to an adult only home.I am what people like to call an attention hog and love all eyes, ears, and pets on me! This means I can be picky about my dog friends and will need to meet any large canine companions prior to getting adopted. I must go to a home without cats, small dogs, livestock, and small animals. I can have a hard time sharing. I have a history of resource guarding my food from people. I love treats so the best way to work on this is to swap out whatever I have with something yummy. Have I mentioned I love treats? Hotdogs and cheese may or may not be my favorite ;)Being such a silly, fun, amazing, high energy boy, I require quite a bit of time and patience. I work best with structure and routine (and treats hehe). If you're interested, I would love to meet you! I am part of the Diamond in the Ruff program, which you can learn more about here. Be prepared to pay the cheese tax though, I'll be waiting! Primary Color: Liver Secondary Color: Cream Weight: 83.4 Age: 2yrs 7mths 3wks

Story
Alex is from a litter, which we were unaware that the dog we adopted was pregnant. Aex is 6 months old, he is a very Sweet boy; Loves attention. He is not crate trained, as he sleeps in the master bedroom. He sleeps all night as long as he is let outside to potty before going to bed. He will go to the back door when he needs to go potty. I just time it. Every couple of hours woorks great. I just put him out, and he pottys. He loves to spend time in the backyard, although he is an indoor dog. Alyx is a Sweetheart dog. If we didn't already have 3 Huskies, we would definately keep him. Alex needs a fenced backyard to keep him safe, And someone at home with him. Someone who works from home, or another àt home adult. He should not be left alone all day while the owners are working. He is a people dog, and would make the best only dog, or with only one other dog.
