You remember the 80's, the car named Kit?? Had David Hasselhoff as his driver and sure had a lot of fun and adventures :) I kind of LOOK like David Hasselhoff (if I do say so myself) and I am SMARTER than the car, Kit!! Again, if I do say so myself :D So, speaking of cars.... i was run over by one (or maybe it was a truck :( I don't remember, all I know is I ended up in a bad way and at the pound. Both my back legs broken and my hip was dislocated as well. That is how the rescue found me, my beautiful David Hasselhoff eyes pled through the sad photo and the rescue chick said, "uh, yes, lets save sweet boy". And that is how my life BEGAN again! I have had my hip surgery, called an FHO, and that was on my GOOD LEG!!! But as God would smile His favor on me, my other leg started HEALING WELL while I recovered from the surgery! Therefore I did not have to have my other leg amputated!! As a pup, the ability of my body to heal is amazing! So, here I am! Ready for adoption! I do have a hitch in my giddyup, but really nothing compared to how I was after the accident. I am a SURVIVOR!! His foster mom states, " Kit is an amazing pup, smart and determined! He taught himself the doggy door in one day, is good with the kitties, great with all other dogs and all people. He will be missed in his foster home, he has the determination of a tough pup and the sweet love of a spoiled pup :) Whoever adopts him will have a great companion!" Please be patient, we try and get back to you as quick as possible. Longest dog resident: 595 days, that is how long Luca has been at our shelter, 595 days, as of 4/18/24. We don't understand why, Luca is sweet, lovable, goofy, his recall is 90%, he knows sit, stay, leave-it, kennel and handsome boy (he tilts his head), he has a long list of many different breed dogs he has played with (from cattle dogs to Labradors to malamutes to German Shepard's), he does well at he groomers, he loves water, any kind of water, whether that be pool water or a muddy pond. Luca came to us in 2022, from a local county shelter who have been hit hard with abandoned dogs, he was on their list to be euthanized due to overcrowding, they reached out and we took him in, we never expected him to still be here 595 days later. Sure, he cannot live with cats, he doesn't like intact male dogs or Alpha dogs and he shy's away from children under 10yrs, but he truly is he most amazing dog, he is coming up on his 2yr anniversary here, is there no one who will give this boy a home before then?? Diesel is a very loving and sweet dog overall, when he is in the mood to cuddle he will, but only on his terms. He does okay with other pets and loves to play with other dogs in the home but when it comes to new people and other dogs outside he can get very protective, as well as if he hears any noises outside the home he will bark. He is most definitely a good guard dog in the sense that he lets you know something is there, but he is very anxious and often barks then cowards. He can be destructive if left home alone, but i believe that would go away if he had a large gated yard he could roam free and run in, but he has run away in the past when initially got him, I would advise putting a tracking collar on him. I currently don’t have the space to give him the life that he deserves, nor the time and money to care for him in the fashion that he needs. I care a lot for diesel and it truly is hard to let him go, but he needs somewhere that he can live his life to the fullest. Thank you.

Now that you are blinded by my beauty, let me explain why I am the absolute best girl on the inside too and so deserving of your (and everyone's) undivided adoration. I'm loyal, smart as a whip, and FUN, just to name a few. Unfortunately, I didn't come from the most glamorous beginnings. I was an outdoor doggy with not much interaction from birth and my family also left me behind when they moved. Thus, I wasn't really brought up interacting with you humans or being touched/handled. I've had my quirks while adjusting to being a family dog and will definitely need someone patient and understanding with me. (If you get too touchy right away, I don't like that and will try to protect myself.) However, if you are slow and gain my trust I will HANG on your every move. I have adjusted very quickly in the past with proper introductions to people. Even still, I would probably do best in a home without young children. I'm a lady after all and need time to sniff you out before you get grabby. I am an active girl and love to feel the wind in my hair outdoors too. I run with the speed of light and have a prey drive to sniff out bugs, lizards and more. I also love to play tug of war and fetch with my foster mommy inside. I bounce, bounce, bounce all the time! I am great on leash so walks and hikes would be great for me. Getting my energy out will help me focus on training too. I am very smart and learn quickly, but tend to lose interest if I'm still chock full of go, go, go!! With all of this perfection, all of your pet needs should be fulfilled, right? RIGHT? I hope so because I would do great as an only pet in the home. I have been able to co-exist with dogs at the rescue but I am a bit of a diva in my foster home. I have a domineering personality sometimes and will even mark like a male when I come across another dog's scent in my house. How dare they??? Existing? HERE? (She is otherwise house trained.) Considering that you and I know each other a little better now, you may pet me. Yes, I am very soft, I know. Please keep in mind that I am a Chow/shepherd mix and have hair that will require brushing, maybe even the occasional spa treatment, Swedish massage, 24k gold facials...yeahhhhhhhhhh.... Sorry! I forgot you were here. In all seriousness, once I trust you, I will allow you to brush me out without much fuss. It doesn't need to be daily but I am a rough and tumble kinda gal and can use help keeping my locks flowing and free. I also shed so if I seem to be losing my girlish figure, it's probably just extra hair that needs to be brushed off. I hope you have a strong vacuum. ;) I could go on for days about myself, but I'll stop here. Don't wanna overwhelm you.
