Story
Kya –💜 is a beautiful, sweet, social, and energetic 6 moth old husky….Very happy, loves people, plays with dogs Cats ok so far, more curious but no aggression. Loves snuggles and belly rubs. Will play fetch with a ball and bring it back. Is potty trained and doggy door trained. Working on clicker training to distract from any unwanted or overstimulated behavior and doing great. Would do great with a person that has husky experience and someone that can exercise her regularly and work with her on a leash. She would absolutely love any outdoor activity and large space to run and play. She gets very bonded to her doggy friend and would love friends. She is an overall sweetie pie and any family will be lucky to have such a well behaved girl of her breed. Please apply at www.hopeshavenfriends.org

Rocy is a very sweet girl. She loves other dogs and people. She came to us from a family that couldn’t get her what she needs. This breed is active and she needs more excersize. We haven’t had a cat test done yet, she would make a great addition to an active home! Please research the breed before applying.

Story
Hi, my name is Odin and I'm looking for my forever best friend! I've had kind of a rough start and it takes me a little bit of time (and hotdogs) before I know you are my people. You see, I used to have a family but they moved away during the hot Texas summer, and left me outside all by myself. All of the neighbors fed me all kinds of yummy things and I even trusted one enough to take the heavy chain off of my neck. (what a relief!) I wasn't sure about the rescue people down the street, and it took me a couple of weeks to let them approach me, but during a heat wave I finally let my foster dad put a leash on me and take me home! Now he's my bestest friend. I was in rough shape with a bum eye that hurt me and heartworms and it took me a couple of weeks before I would let foster mom and dad pet me without grumbling at them(of course, I am a TALKING HUSKY!!). I didn't want them to grab me, push me, put me in a crate, or touch me too much. Now my walls are down and my favorite things to do are snuggle up, get scritches, sit on my foster mom's lap, and just be by my people. I'm very loyal and I'm always lying by their feet no matter where they are. They taught me to go in the crate and in the car by myself because I'm very eager to learn how to do things and please you so that you don't have to force me to do anything! At the vet I wear a muzzle for everybody's safety and I let my foster mom and dad put it right on my head. I have lots of dogs in my foster home and I get along with all of them. I'm still learning that there's enough love and food to go around though, and I sometimes resource guard things like toys, treats, and the dog food bin. I'm fine with most of the dogs, but I watch out for the other big male in my foster house. My foster parents can easily redirect my attention with a verbal reprimand, a spray bottle, or a tap on the rear. I also love to jump up and rough house and might knock little kids over because I want to play with them. My ideal best friend knows a lot about dogs and is patient and has lots of hotdogs. It might take me a couple of weeks, but I promise to be your loyalist bestest friend ever. If you have a dog who is patient and good with other dogs I would love that too and maybe we could also be best friends, I want to play but my foster siblings don't know how. Odin is a wonderful dog who needs a little patience before he lets his true temperament shine. He is extremely loyal but would thrive in a home with experienced dog owners as he doesn't like to be grabbed, lifted, or pushed, and responds best to positive and upbeat energy. He's eager to please and with a little patience has learned to go into the crate (where he does an excellent job being quiet and settling down) and into the car. He does get carsick and throws up on almost every ride. He has a lot of energy and would love an active family to take him hiking, walking, or jogging. Odin is a good weight at 75 pounds, is finishing up hw treatment, and is about 2 years old. If you bring the patience, respect, and hotdogs, Odin will bring the unwavering love and loyalty! Local adoption fee $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area)

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Dog meet and greets are by appointment only, please answer the questions below the bio, either through Petfinder, Adopt-A-Pet or by directly e-mailing us at shelter@hbpets.org. Please be patient, we are over capacity and short staffed, we try to get back to everyone quickly, it may be 4-5 days. Meet Luca aka Lucas, he is a 1yr old, neutered male, husky. He transferred in from another Oregon Based shelter who are at capacity and struggling. Luca is a very sweet guy with lots and lots and lots of energy. He loves other dogs, but is not a fan of cats. Luca would love a home with physical activity, like hiking or running and with room to run. He would also love a canine play buddy, he currently plays with Mingan, Bessie, Freya and Sandy. He learns quickly from other dogs, he is very intelligent and thrives with routine!! He also loves and I mean LOVES water, whether it be a pool or a hose he doesn't care and will get in. He would not do well in a home without a yard or a private yard, no community yards please, , he has a lot of energy to burn and if he is not allowed to burn the energy off he gets mouthy out of frustration (never mean). We are working on leash training, he was pretty good manners. So, do you have an active household, do you have an energetic dog that needs a buddy, then Luca may be your next best friend!! My adoption fee is $175: This includes spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccines, microchip + 1 year membership paid for, dewormer, flea treatment and a 1 pound bag of food they are currently on. 1. Do you own or rent? 2. Do you have a private fenced yard? 3. Do you go hiking, jogging or do physical activities that he can be a part of? 4. How many people and age groups live in your home? 5. How many animals, types and what they are like! 6. Do you have time to work on his leash manners? 7. How many hours a day will he be alone? 8. Please tell us more about how he would spend his days and what activities you would plan!

Story
Freyja is a sweet 1yr 8mo old girl that needs an active home. She came to us out of a bad situation where she was poorly cared for. She is now fixed, up to date on shots and ready to live her best life. We are not a foster, but just dog lovers that couldn’t let this sweet girl end up at a kill shelter. She gets along with our other large dogs. Cats and small dogs are unknown. She would do well in a home with an active lifestyle. She does well with children but small children may get knocked over as she has a ton of energy. We just want to find this sweet girl a loving home where she can get more one on one attention than she does now as she is still very much a puppy and wants to go little else but play! She really needs to go to someone with experience with this type of dog.

Story
Adyn is a really cool name right? Could you try spelling it then? Not so cool anymore? This is my dilemma everyday at doggy school! No one can say or pronounce my name correctly... I have begun to answer to Phil, maybe that will help? Adyn IS my name and LOVE IS my GAME! I am a young boy, about 3 years old, yet I know who I am and I know that I LOVE YOU! I am very smart, I am a potential running buddy, or at least a great hiking buddy! Either way, I love to have all my energy let out with you doing cool stuff! I love my people, I am good with other dogs, however I need to be in a one dog/one animal home because I want all the attention! I am not a "dog park" kind of dog, either. I am such a great companion for my person or people, but I do get protective in my (our) space. This means I need to be crated when people come to visit and I need a LEADER. Simple as that! Unfortunately two adopters' already have not followed this principle and so I am still looking for the home that really understands what is best for me and what is best for your visitors...really do I have to meet everyone?? Some basic information about Adyn; he is 4-years old, male, Chow Chow/Yellow Labrador Retriever, and is medium-sized (20-59lbs). Local adoption only, in San Antonio or TX area, $200

Story
Haku means "pure" in Japanese! I was named for my pure, passionate and overwhelming love for everyone around me! I came to the rescue when my dad was stationed in Japan and heartbroken that he couldn't take me with him. I've missed him so much ever since! Everyday I do the things I did with him with other dogs so I can try and remember what it felt like to be with him! But it's just not the same. So, I'm hoping a new family can come scoop me up and show me what it feels like to be a part of a home and family again! I am good with other dogs, I love playing chase with them or tugging on chew toys. I'll need a happy and active home so that my life will be full of love and fun! I am a bit anxious and nervous around new people, and people in general! Slow introductions, a safe space I can retreat to like a crate and not forcing me into spaces with tons of people will help me be myself all the time! Haku can only be adopted in the local or TX area. Local adoption only, in San Antonio or TX area, $200.
