Story
CHANCE – have you ever seen a more handsome fella? Just a few things about this sweet guy. The vet believes that Chance is between 18mo - 2yrs old and weighs 59lbs. • He is heart worm negative and neutered. •He is super sweet and gentle - wants to cuddle and be near his person. •He is dog-friendly (the foster doesn’t have cats, so we are not certain if he’s cat-friendly) •He is people-friendly to everyone he has met. Foster does not have small children, but he has been fine around children on walks. Due to his size and youth, he might knock down small children, but he is not aggressive. •He is house broken. Even in the rain and snow he has let us know he needs to go out. •He is a little timid to new people at first, but warms up quickly. •He very rarely barks. •He has learned to sit, walk on a leash, and “wait” for his food bowl to be put down. •He is very food motivated, so can be easily trained with treat rewards. He is not reactive when eating. •He can be possessive over certain toys with a low, warning growl if another dog tries to take it from him. •He is not interested in fetching a ball, but loves chew toys and antlers. • He can be very active, but is also happy cuddled up with his person. •He would do great in a house with another dog, but would be fine as an only dog also. Once adopted Chance will travel via private transport (transport cost is $160.00) to a location closest to you. Story
Howlett is a happy, handsome guy that can be on the stubborn side at times. He is around a year old and will need someone who has experience with stubborn breeds and is willing to work with him. He knows sit and shake. Howlett loves to go outside for walks and loves to play in his play yard! He is treat motivated and loves to play with the kong toys! Howlett did test positive for Lyme but is currently on antibiotics for it. Due to no past history an age restriction for children in the home may apply, please discuss this with shelter staff. Howlett has been neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, Heartworm/Lyme tested, and microchipped since his arrival at the shelter.Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter5051 Letterkenny Road WestChambersburg, PA 17201Kennel License #2090

***I WOULD PREFER A HOME WITH TEENS +**DOG EXPERIENCE REQUIREDI am a very energetic girl. I am a little nervous and hate being restrained. I like to mouth at your hands and will need a lot of training to learn my manners. I would do best with a family who does not have any young children, and who understands my body language and can help me be my best self!

Story
Koda originally came to us in January 2023 after she was found as a stray and she was not getting along with the finder's dogs. In the ten months that Koda has been with us, we have seen both the good and bad with her. While we are happy to adopt her out to the right home we would still be open to a rescue taking her into their care so she can continue to work on her behaviors. Koda is very picky about the people she befriends and lets into her space and is available to be visited by those with approved applications only. The kennel environment is stressful for many dogs and unfortunately amplified some of the negatives in Koda's behaviors. While in the kennel or when she is insecure in her environment Koda will guard items that she considers of high-value. In the shelter we have seen that in the form of her toys and her food/water bowls. She does not display these behaviors with staff she has bonded herself to or, generally, when she is away from the other dogs and not in the kennel. Due to these behaviors, any potential adopters will need to have previous experience owning dogs and may be required to visit with Koda more than once before taking her home! Koda cannot go to a home with other dogs, cats or kids. When Koda is comfortable with you, she is a gem of a pup! She LOVES to give kisses and will hop up for hugs and an ear scratch. This two-year-old pup is a huge fan of treats and is always ready for a snack! Koda knows 'sit' and 'leave it' currently. She is an extremely toy and food motivated pup and would love to learn more in her forever home! Her previous adopters did state that she was house-broken and generally a very well-behaved dog outside of her not getting along with their dog. Koda has done fantastic riding in the car for staff and also walks nicely on leash. Stuffed toys or anything that squeaks are her preferred toys to play with while in the yard or hanging out with staff. Koda also enjoys playing in water and would love to go to a home that will let her splash around! Staff knows that with the right home and people, Koda will make a fantastic dog! Koda is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. Availability date: 01/04/2024

Story
Meet Rocky! Rocky came to us in 2023 as part of a humane case. Rocky is now ready to have a fresh start! Rocky is a big guy with an even bigger personality. This playful fluffball loves nothing more than running around and playing with toys! He loves to chase after stuffies and carry them around. Rocky will need to learn some basic commands, and some leash training as he can pull a little. Rocky has lived with other dogs and does well with them. While at the shelter, Rocky has seen cats and wants to play with them. We would recommend a home with older children because Rocky spooks easily. Rocky can be a bit cautious of seeing new people, especially men, so he will need a patient home where he can build his confidence when meeting new people! If Rocky sounds like the perfect dog for you, please fill out an application for him today! Rocky is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped
