Meet This Handsome Akita Pup! This 11-month-old male Akita came to us as an owner surrender through no fault of his own—his previous owner simply had too many Akitas. And trust us, this boy is an absolute gem. He is very friendly, loves people, and is always excited to explore new things. True to his breed, he adores the cold and snow and would thrive with an active family who enjoys getting outside. He’s still got puppy manners and puppy energy, so he’ll need continued training, structure, and outlets to keep both his body and brain busy. ? Playful ? Curious ? Social and people-loving ? Full of young-dog energy If you’re looking for a loyal companion and have the time, patience, and dedication to train and exercise a young Akita, this boy could be your perfect match. Do you have the time to help him grow into the amazing adult dog he’s meant to be? If you are interested in meeting Trevor, please visit the shelter during our open hours; Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri 10a-12p & 2p-4p, Thurs 10a-12p & 2p-5:30p, and Saturday 9a-1p. Adoption application are done in person at the shelter. If you do not own your home, bring consent from the property owner to have a dog on the property. As always, if you have another dog in the home, plan to bring them for a meet before you complete the adoption. Adoption fees: 6m and younger $250, 7m-5y $200, 6y-10y $150, 11y and older $100. I may be shy at first, but once we’ve had a proper sniff and a quiet introduction, I’ll be nudging your hand for more pets and offering you my full attention. I thrive in calm, structured environments and enjoy having a job to do—whether it’s chasing a tennis ball, walking by your side, or lounging after a fun play session. I walk well on leash, I’m athletic (hello, hops!), and I absolutely love fetch. Sometimes I’ll even drop the ball right into your hand. While I’m still working on my confidence and consistency with housetraining, I’m incredibly eager to learn and bond. I do best with patient humans who are home often and willing to work with me through some anxiety and a few quirks that make me, well, uniquely Kai. HOW AM I WITH DOGS: I’m dog-selective. I do best with respectful, friendly female dogs who give me space and good vibes. With the right match and a slow intro, I can enjoy doggy companionship. HOW AM I WITH CATS: Unknown, but given my interest in small animals and birds, I would likely do best in a cat-free home. He’s affectionate, loves to snuggle at your feet, and once he knows you, he’ll cover you in kisses. He naps most of the day, then gets a playful burst of energy—fetch, chase, zoomies, and long walks are his favorite! Jack also LOVES cold weather and would stay outside all day when it’s chilly. Because of his thick coat and sensitivity to brushing, he usually gets a short shave in warmer months to stay comfortable. Max is a 7 month old male Husky mix who weighs around 35 lbs. Max is a very sweet young man, who loves to play with the other dogs at the shelter and whoever comes into the shelter. Max is young so he would be easy to train and is currently being taught to walk on a leash. Max was a stray that was brought in by a good samaritan. He does have some scars from what we do not know, but they are all healed. Max would make an awesome addition to a family since he is so young.  Max is neutered, fully vetted and microchipped.
