Story
Gentle, 10-year-old Servate is looking for a life-long companion who will take him for short walks and provide shade and shelter. He has simple needs - some tasty crunchies, the odd pat and a squishy ball to chase. He was surrendered to the shelter by an elderly owner who was too sick and frail to look after him. When I saw him, he looked so bewildered and I felt compelled to get him out of there. Sadly we can't keep him as he's wobbly on the stairs and we're away from home too much. He is very well behaved and a fast learner for his age. He doesn’t bark, unless a big horse sneaks up on him. His hearing is not that great, but he understands sign language. And if you show him the lead, he’ll be up and Adam as fast as his old hips and knees will allow. He likes to sleep inside on very hot days and he has excellent bladder control. He’s not that interested in other dogs and cats, but happily tolerates them.

Truck Stop was rescued during the 2026 flood relief efforts. He is a friendly boy who is ready to find his true home. True to his name, Truck Stop is a great place to stop for a friendly interaction. He simply likes getting pets and receiving treats. When it comes to other dogs, he coexists fine with them in playgroups but is generally disinterested in playing, preferring to just do his own thing. If you are looking for a big, friendly, and easygoing companion, Truck Stop is ready to join your journey.

Can you say LOVE LOVE LOVE cold weather and A/C! If your a cold weather human and want a gal to totally agree, Mayvis could be the gal for you! Mayvis Fan came to the rescue in such bad condition; it was thought she was a very old dog. Upon her immediate arrival to the vet, it was found she was about 6yoa. Mayvis is very well behaved and simply LOVES being with her human (s), packs close quite well and has had great recall. She loves riding in a vehicle, or atv. Readily loads up! She is a doll at the vet and great on leash and in public. She loves her toys and gets in 'silly' mode doing zoomies in tight circles. Mayvis will require an only 'queen' status of the house. An adult and/or older children household best, Mayvis does have a typical Akita personality. Wary of new people on her home turf, is accepting of new people once she knows it's ok' and has done well with meeting people that come in. Mayvis would be great in the home environment it is believed. She is currently housed in a climate controlled 'Dawghouse' with her own 'apartment' and private dog yard along with some of the other large dogs as neighbors. If you're looking for a single gal with total devotion, that also has a goofy silly side, Mayvis is for you!

After his owner had to move and couldn't take him along, Guero is looking for a fresh start with a family to call his own. He is a sweet, friendly boy who enjoys playtime and companionship. Once he feels comfortable, his fun personality begins to shine. Guero previously lived as an outdoor dog and would love a home with a secure yard where he can stretch his legs and enjoy the outdoors but would also love the opportunity to come inside for a change!
