Meet Neko 🤍 Sometimes life deals you an unfortunate hand — but I pulled through like a champ and now I’m ready for my new home. I’m Neko, a 3-year-old Mastiff/Akita mix with a gentle soul and a big heart. I recently finished treatment for heartworms and did an amazing job resting and healing. Now that I’m feeling better, I’m ready to get back to enjoying life. I’m potty trained, independent, and love being around my people. I’m also a big fan of other dogs, which is why I sometimes get excited when I see them — I just really want to go say hi! When I’m feeling my best, I love long walks (2+ miles) and exploring the world with my person. I was previously living with a family, and now I’m looking for a fresh start with someone who will love me as much as I’ll love them. If you’re looking for a loyal, gentle companion who’s overcome a tough chapter and is ready for a happy one, come meet me. 🐾

Story
We found BeeBee posted on Nextdoor. He was living in Brownsville with a nice lady who found him on her property. Her dogs weren't interested in having him around, so she had a family member post him in the Austin area. We fell in love once we saw his post and his pictures. We brought him home and he's done well in our family for the past couple of years.BeeBee enjoys playing with his pittie brother, loves being around his people (especially kids) and also could spend hours sunbathing on the platform beds outside in the yard. When he's running around the house or yard, you might find him carrying around his favorite toy of the moment.We have 7 other dogs in our home, and it's become too much for BeeBee. Several of the dogs are reaching their geriatric years. BeeBee loves his brother Cotton, who's about his age and size, but is having some conflict with one of the older males. It's become hard to manage, and we want our older population to age peacefully.
