My name is Willa and I love to play and just be around people and other dogs. I was brought to the shelter when the people decided they had too many dogs and got rid of some of us. I am a pretty Akita mix but I don`t have that reserved personality that some Akita`s have, it must be my mix of wonderful, friendly dog that makes me so special. If you have another dog for me to play with that would be great or if you just want to spend time with me and take me on walks and lots of play time that would be great too. You really need to meet me to see how unique I am, I think I am quite the beauty. Kenzo and Naomi were found as strays, picked up by Mansfield Animal Control, one of the worst kill shelters in Texas. No information was provided except they are heartworm negative. On July 4th - Naomi gave birth to 7 nuggets. This sweet gal is now ready for a home of her own. She lived in a home with a male akita, and we believe with the proper introductions, she will do great. She is always the first one to meet you and snuggles into your legs. There is not a person that visits that she doesn't like including dogs. As in rescue, you truly never know the whole story when you rescue a senior but what we do know about Dougie is that he suffered at the hands of POS chemical burns to the side of his face and was taken to a kill shelter. Many people tagged SafeHaven Animal Rescue Team begging that we pull and treat his medical needs, which of course we did. As a result of his injuries, he is blind but is a wonderful loving dog. He holds no grudges to what has happened to him. He does zoomies in the yard, plays with the other pups who are in Foster's home and he loves people - big and small. We are looking for a breed experienced owner with a fenced in yard. He is current on vaccines and is neutered.

Mordecai is a young Malamute that is very sweet and loving, but is indeed a puppy in a very large body. When he first came to us he had been mauled by two other dogs and he was battling mange. He has since recovered beautifully from all of that. His pictures here show some of that healing progress. He is around 70 lbs currently, but may gain over the next year or so as he grows. Being so young and having had so little structure or boundaries in his life prior to coming to us, Mordecai does lack some impulse control and will need to build a bond and relationship with his new people in order to be his best self. Mordecai is learning to sit patiently, but he is so highly food motivated sometimes he cannot contain himself. He would do best in a home without children or with older children that won't be easily knocked over as he doesn't manage his own large body well at times. He must be the only dog in the home. With time and patience, Mordecai will make a great dog for someone looking for a companion or an adventure buddy.
