Story

Brodie was found in the Utah woods, probably an owner dump and was taken to a small kill shelter that does not have room for the large breed dogs. A local rescue posted his fate and SafeHart made arrangements to tag and pull him. He was picked up by a volunteer who lives in Idaho and then transported to our Ranch in Texas. Brodie is a feast for the eyes. His American & Japanese Akita Blend is breathtaking and one of a kind. He has distinctive good looks that takes your breath away when you first meet him. His sweet and gentle giant nature makes him so easy to love and boy does he love the belly rubs. Brodie has awesome manners and loves big and small people. He is a little reserved when meeting new dogs and he does appreciate when they get into his personal space but does not react as some of our other dogs do. He is adored by everyone who meets him, and you can tell that he puts his whole heart into meeting new people, but he just wants a family who will love him. The SafeHart Team promises that he will be your soul dog, especially considering he is a long coat. He is approximately 5 years old and is current on all his shots and Neutered. Story

Archie has been with SafeHart for too long. He was a favorite at Dallas Animal Services and that is why when his time came up to be put down, the volunteers searched high and low for a rescue to tag and save him. We really thought that he would be adopted pretty quickly but that has not proven to be the case. And we are scratching our heads and wondering why. He LOVES People and is a happy-go-lucky personable boy as long as you are handing out belly rubs. When spending time with you, he will shower you with kisses and he will reduce your stress 10x fold as he always wants you to play ball or hang out with him. He can be both a couch potato and or a hiking partner. The Ranch Team knows that if you win his heart, you will receive a lifetime of his love. The downside, he needs to be any only child so that he gets all of your attention. He has awesome potential and we know in our hearts that he will make a family very happy. Story

Athena's story will break your heart. She started as a puppy with Tina Day's Service Dog Program and when she graduated, she was paired with a Military Veteran who needed her special skills. She was with him for a period of time and when he lost his home, he gave her to another military person and subsequently their treatment of her went downhill. The last placement took her to a veterinary hospital to have her put down but a very kind Client of the Hospital stepped in and saved her. She then reached out to Tina Day who is committed to helping us find her a home and is willing to retrain Athena at no cost. Everyone who has met this beautiful girl loves her. She is thin and we are working on putting weight on her. She is located at our Facility in Idaho but for the right application, we will move her. When she looks at you, she is looking into your soul. She is exceptionally smart; knows her commands and walks well on a leash. She does have some baggage considering what she went through but with love and patience, we are know that she will gain her confidence. Athena is 7 years old, UTD on shots, Heartworm Negative and on prevention and spayed. Howdy y’all, My name is Jade. I have become a favorite here at the ranch, as I have been here for quite some time due to an injury i had when I was pulled from the shelter. Thankfully these nice rescue ladies got me to the orthopedic surgeon and had my front leg repaired. Now I did have a very long healing process with a lot of rehabilitation to help me learn to walk on my leg again. Since I’m out of rehab I’m now looking for a furever home! I’m roughly 2 years young and full of life. Although I do get tired quickly and have to play in small increments due to my leg but that does not hold me back! I do like to play outside with my tennis ball. I absolutely love getting treats and belly rubs as well! I would do better in a home without others as I do not like them. I do not like to rough play either. I like calm and sweet environments. How has this handsome boy not had anyone interested in making him apart of their family?! Tank is estimated to be around 6-7 years young. He loves to be around all people, especially if they will give him all the belly rubs and back scratches they can! Tank is very easy going. He loves to please everyone and show off all his tricks, like sit, shake hands, lay down and roll over! Tank is a bigger male weighing around 110-115. He is heartworm negative and on prevention. He takes his prevention very easy with the help of his favorite treat canned spray cheese. Now Tank does need to be an only child as he does not like to play with other dogs or cats. He would do best with a family with older children and no other animals. How did this happy go-lucky, easy going lovable 1 year old Akita/Pit Mix end up in one of the worst shelters I have seen in Texas and still maintain his faith in humanity?
