Story
Meet Nelly   Nelly is a beautiful 5 year old Akita mix with a gentle heart and an easygoing personality. She isn't the type who needs constant entertainment. She's perfectly happy relaxing on her own, but the moment you sit down to give her attention, she's all in for affection and love.   She is housebroken, non-destructive, and gets along well with other dogs. Whether she's sharing a home with canine friends or soaking up the peace and quiet as your one and only, Nelly is simply happy to be part of the family.   Nelly's story is a heartbreaking one. She was abandoned when the family she loved moved away, leaving her behind to fend for herself. Despite that betrayal, she has remained sweet, trusting, and full of love to give. Now all she wants is a family who will never leave her again.   If you're looking for a loyal, calm companion who will happily spend her days by your side, Nelly is ready to start her next chapter with you.   Adoption application: https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/13102/generic ##2777382##

Story
Meet Alpha! He is a 6 yr old Male, AKC Registered Akita mix that weighs 108lbs. He came in as an owner surrender on 7/21 as his owners could no longer care for him. He is an extremely handsome boy that walks ok on a leash, as he can pull a bit. I did not have the right toys nor treats he had interest in, yet I`m sure with time he will find them. He enjoyed investigating the play yard, taking in all the sights and sounds. He does know the sit and down commands. He does appear to have possibly hip dysplasia or another type of issue related to his legs that a vet can diagnose further. He doesn`t mind being petted but his focus was more on his surroundings. He did not show any interest in the other dogs that were barking at him. We do always ask if there is another dog in the home please ask the shelter for a dog test. With his breed it is important to keep his grooming up to date so he can remain comfortable. Having his own loving family, playing in a secured yard then definitely come back inside where it is nice and cool is what this wonderful boy deserves. Can you offer him the caring family he deserves? Come spend time with Alpha.

Story
Hi, I'm Luk! I'm a a 55 lb beautiful good girl who is the perfect mix of playful and calm — I love a good walk and exploring all the outdoor smells (squirrels and bunnies get me *very* excited, though I promise it's all in good fun). But I'm just as happy curled up quietly beside you while you read, work, or relax. **A little about me:** - I'm smart and love a good challenge — puzzle toys, training games, bring it on - Treats are my love language, and I could get belly rubs forever - I'm not a fan of the heat — after a walk, I'm ready for A/C and a cool floor over cozy carpet any day - I'm house trained - I'm still working on being left alone, but I've made huge progress and I know I'll settle in once I have a consistent home **With others:** I seem to love other dogs and people — I get excited to say hi when we pass dogs on our walks! I haven't met a cat yet, so we'll see. I really miss having a buddy around, so I think I'd do best with another animal companion to keep me secure, entertained, and less anxious. **My ideal home:** I'd love a family with a yard, plenty of people around to love on me, and maybe a furry sibling for company. I do best with minimal time home alone — someone who works from home or has a flexible schedule would be perfect. With consistent exercise and mental stimulation, I know I'll thrive. I promise to bring so much love and joy into your life. I look at you with the gentlest eyes, and honestly, I just want to be near you. Come meet me? Interested in adding Luk to your pack? Story
Meet Lainey! Lainey's story has not been an easy one, but she is ready for a new beginning. She was surrendered due to her owner not being able to care for her anymore. Lainey is an approximately 2 year old female Husky mix weighing 45 pounds is now looking for a patient, understanding home where she can finally feel safe and secure. Lainey is shy at first but has a very sweet nature once she begins to warm up. She is still learning how to navigate the world and will need an experienced dog owner who can provide guidance, structure, and patience in order to build her confidence and learns how to simply be a dog again. She will benefit from continued leash training and positive reinforcement to help her thrive. Lainey does well with other dogs but has not lived with cats or children. If you currently have another pet in the home, a meet and greet is suggested prior to adoption to help ensure a good fit for everyone. Her adoption fee is $125. She is spayed, microchipped, current on her basic annual boosters, and heartworm negative. If you are ready to give Lainey the time, patience, and care she deserves, please apply online: https://rockwalladoptions.com/adoptfoster/adoption-application/  All animals, unless otherwise noted in their description, are at 1825 Airport Rd. in Rockwall, TX. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9 am to 6 pm and Saturdays 9 am to 5 pm. For questions, please call 972-771-7750 ext. 2 or email info@RockwallAdoptions.com. IMPORTANT NOTICE: All shelter animals are required by Texas state law to be spayed/neutered. RAC completes this procedure at the age of 12 weeks. If you are adopting a pet under the age of 12 weeks or an animal that has not yet been spayed or neutered, you will be required to return the pet to our facility on the agreed upon date set at the time of adoption. This policy is non-negotiable and violation of this health code is a criminal offense. July 29, 2026, 7:01 pm
