Hello, I'm Smoke! I'm a 2yr old male Akita and am current on my vaccines, heartworm tested, neutered, and microchipped. 3 words that describe me: Fluffy, affectionate, and cuddly. Things staff and volunteers have to say about me: Have you ever wanted to befriend a bear? Maybe cuddle with one, and pet those fuzzy, little ears? Adopting Smoke will likely be the closest you can get to experiencing that dream, and unlike a bear, he'll love you back! He's a big ol' life-sized teddy bear, and would LOVE to meet you. Activity level/Energy Level: (1-10): 7/10 Housetraining Status: I'm quite a clean guy, but may need some patience when adjusting to a new routine. I should do well in a home: With kids and dogs of all ages, given proper introductions. My friends are unsure of how I would do with cats. My favorite activities are: Getting some thorough scratches beneath my thick and luscious coat! True to my breed, I also feel at home in the snow! I'm loving this chilly Wisconsin weather. Things I need work on are: Jumping up on people (I'm just trying to show them how tall I am, I swear!) I'm also curious about everything around me, and pull on leash when I see something I want to investigate. History: Our Out of the Cold Rescue Effort was a great success in welcoming over 180+ animals to rescue from rural areas in North Dakota before the cold set in. These animals are all so deserving and thankful to get a second chance in finding a forever home of their own! A Note from the Foster: Greetings! If you are a Greek Mythology fan you may have heard of my namesake; Boreas, the god of the north wind. My name was chosen for me because I was part of the OOTC (Out of the Cold) rescue effort that happens each November to help save dogs like me from spending the frigid winter fending for ourselves. Now that I have explained my name, I want to tell you about me! I am a sweet, big boy who is still learning how big I really am. I am also working on basic manners because no one ever taught me how to be the best boy until I came to rescue. I love to run and play around the yard with the other dogs in my foster home. Chasing each other around the yard is fun. I love to chase the ball if you throw it, but the concept of picking it up and bringing it back is completely lost to me (for now). So many things to learn! It is clear that I have not had a lot of exposure to things like leashes or being in a home. I am working really hard on learning how to be a good boy. My foster momma says it's a good thing I am adorable. I will need a family that can help me continue to learn how to be the best boy. Maybe that's you?

Hi! My name is Molly! I`m an Akita mix but think like a teddy bear. I came to the shelter as a stray with my friend Hershey. I came in first and didn`t do well by myself. I was sad and confused not knowing why Hershey didn`t come with. It didn`t take long though. Hershey likes to run and got away from our owner again.
