Story
I found Winter in 2021during the winter storm in DFW hence the name! I wasn’t looking to adopt at the time but when I saw her at a petsmart she stole my heart. I took her home that day and since then we’ve had countless adventures together. She’s very sensitive to human emotion. It may seem crazy but I’m convinced she can tell when I’m sad, frustrated, etc. She will come to you and keep you company. My life has become too busy to give her the attention she deserves. I would like to find someone preferably with kids but I’m not set on that. She loves kids and is very playful with them. She is old - when I got her they told me she was around 4 to 5 years old. I’ve had her for 5 so that would put her at around 9 to 10 years old. However she still has ALOT of energy! For a husky/malamute she is very chill around the house. Sleeps a lot but when it’s time to play watch out! You’ll get tired first for sure. She loves being outside but prefers inside.

Story
Mordecai is a 4-year-old Alaskan Malamute with a fun, energetic, and goofy personality. He is extremely people-oriented and loves outdoor activities, playtime, and spending time with his humans. Mordecai came into rescue after surviving as a stray, where he suffered multiple dog attack wounds and severe mange. He required extensive medical care for infected wounds and skin treatment before making a full recovery. Mordecai is crate trained and has basic obedience skills, but he requires an experienced, breed-savvy adopter who is comfortable handling large, strong working breeds. He thrives with structure, consistency, and active engagement. Mordecai must be the only pet in the home. He is dog aggressive and has a high prey drive, making him unsafe for homes with cats or small animals. Due to his size and rambunctious energy level, he is also not a suitable match for homes with children. He has a unique malocclusion where his lower jaw is shorter than his upper jaw, which often causes his tongue to stick out. Because of this, he can be messy when drinking water and tends to eat too quickly, so he requires a slow feeder. Mordecai is looking for an active, patient adopter who understands his management needs and is committed to giving him the structure and environment he needs to thrive as a beloved companion. Meet Koda! Your new fluffy BFF! Age: 3 years | Weight: 63 lbs Koda is a stunning husky/malamute mix who is ready to find her forever home! Unlike many huskies, she’s a low-maintenance girl, perfectly content with a short walk or some yard time before heading back inside to enjoy the AC. Koda is crate trained, walks nicely on leash, and is potty trained. She’s gentle, curious, and independent, making her an easy companion who doesn’t demand constant attention. That said, Koda will do best with structure and boundaries. She can be protective of her food, toys, and favorite spots, so she will need a confident adopter who understands how to manage resource guarding or is open and willing to learn. Feeding her in her crate and skipping couch privileges will help set her up for success. Because she can be protective of her things with other dogs and is a bit too interested in cats, she will do best as an only pet in the home. Koda is also a true beauty queen! With her gorgeous coat, she’ll need regular brushing to keep her looking and feeling her best. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who enjoys a calmer lifestyle, Koda may be your perfect match. She’s ready to share her love and personality with the right family! Apply to adopt Koda at: acesplacerescue.org/availabledogs Located in Denton, Texas
