DOB - Feb. 10, 2020 Reason for rehoming: My son (owner) moved to Africa. I cannot keep him due to my lease. If he cannot be rehomed, he will have to go to a shelter. The local Akita rescue is not accepting any new dogs. Alpha is a sweet and devoted American Akita looking for a forever home where he can thrive. He is incredibly loyal, affectionate, and naturally protective of his family—once he bonds with you, he is your shadow and your biggest fan. Alpha does have environmental allergies, so he’ll need an adopter who can continue his care and keep him comfortable. He cannot be boarded, so he needs a family who can provide in-home care or trusted at-home pet sitting when traveling. He loves being near his people, enjoys calm environments, and does best with someone who understands large guardian breeds. Alpha will make an amazing companion for the right person or family—someone who values loyalty, connection, and a dog who truly loves his humans.

Teddy is looking for a home that values his mellow personality, gives him space to unwind, and welcomes his sweet, understated affection. The fee is just incase it will cost me money to get him to you, otherwise there might not be a fee. I am actively still working on training him, however I have 2 jobs and it is difficult to give him the time needed for training. Any of his behavioral issues can be fixed with proper time and training. He’s playful and energetic but can also be a couch potato with you, loves cuddles, and pig ears. He will whine to be let outside for the restroom and sit by the door. Only commands he knows are sit and lay down. “Home” is the command we’ve used for his crate and he will go home if told to. He knows what outside and inside the house mean. He loves people and other large dogs. He plays rough and has a high prey drive. I have hardly seen him around kids, he is good and gentle but will require supervision because he does have some resource guarding around food. He will eat food from your hands and will sit to wait for food until given a command. Decent on the leash but does need some work.
