Meet Alpha! He is a 6 yr old Male, AKC Registered Akita mix that weighs 108lbs. He came in as an owner surrender on 7/21 as his owners could no longer care for him. He is an extremely handsome boy that walks ok on a leash, as he can pull a bit. I did not have the right toys nor treats he had interest in, yet I`m sure with time he will find them. He enjoyed investigating the play yard, taking in all the sights and sounds. He does know the sit and down commands. He does appear to have possibly hip dysplasia or another type of issue related to his legs that a vet can diagnose further. He doesn`t mind being petted but his focus was more on his surroundings. He did not show any interest in the other dogs that were barking at him. We do always ask if there is another dog in the home please ask the shelter for a dog test. With his breed it is important to keep his grooming up to date so he can remain comfortable. Having his own loving family, playing in a secured yard then definitely come back inside where it is nice and cool is what this wonderful boy deserves.
