Story
Donnie and Marie arrived at Satchel’s Last Resort after being pulled from animal services, carrying with them a past we can only guess was deeply painful. Their bodies told a story their voices couldn’t—both were emaciated, crawling with internal and external parasites, and suffering from severely neglected skin. It was clear they had endured far more than any dog should. But in the middle of all that hardship, Donnie and Marie shined. From the moment they came through our doors, their tails wagged with a quiet, hopeful joy. Their eyes, though tired, lit up every time someone knelt down to say hello. Despite the tremendous neglect they had experienced, both dogs greeted the world with sweetness, trust, and a contagious happiness that spread to everyone who met them. What’s even more remarkable is how much they adore other dogs and people. Their resilient spirits seem to remind us all that love can outgrow even the hardest beginnings. Donnie and Marie don’t dwell on what happened to them—they’re too busy embracing every soft bed, every gentle touch, and every new friend with open hearts. Today, they are safe, healing, and learning what it means to be cherished. And in return, they brighten our days with the kind of joy only the bravest souls can give. They have, obviously, endured a lot together. While they would be thrilled to remain a pair, we truly believe each would adapt well to a separate home if it meant finding the right match. What matters most is that they both get the chance they deserve—to be loved, protected, and valued. Donnie and Marie have so much affection to give, and each one would make a remarkable companion for a family ready to open their heart. Recent bloodwork shows they both have heartworm disease and they will soon be starting treatment. They'd love to be in a loving foster home for the 3 months required calm time. From a volunteer about Donnie: No words other than pure goodness, angel with a constant WAGGING tail, and 100% love comes from this amazing gentleman. His tail never stopped wagging . EVER He doesn't know a Stranger and has so much love ❤️ to give back despite his physical appearance from neglect and cruelty. He has an eye infection which we are currently medicating with the hopes full vision will return . He wants to make you smile instantly w his friendly personality .

From a volunteer: Grab a Kleenex and get ready y'all... Other words that describe petite Marie other than angel, pure love ❤️, sweet soul, beyond gentle natured and loving !!! I immediately wanted to cry BUT she kissed my sadness away . She's all tail wags, despite her physical scars, missing hair and neglect beyond my comprehension. As a volunteer who lives and breaths helping shelter dogs I commend satchels for saving Marie and her darling bonded half Donnie!!!

Story
I adopted Callie in 2018 she was 4 months old. I got a divorce and I moved into an apartment that does not allow me to have her because of her size. My parents took her and have been caring for her for 3 years now. They are looking to move soon and cannot take her. I am not financially able to move into a house yet and I cannot take her back in my apartment. She is a very sweet girl. She is not around other pets so I don’t know how she does but she has been around my children and never had a problem. There is no rehoming fee because I just want her to go to a loving home that will take care of her and love her.

Story
Randy loves his walks and will play tug of war with you. He will fetch and bring back. He plays rough with other dogs and has jealousy tendencies so being an only dog is preferred. He gets territorial of his environment so a secured fenced in yard is a must for him to relax in his yard and soak up some rays.

Story
Bruno was a stray in the Miami area, wandering the streets, hoping someone would notice him. He was dumped to fend for himself when a good Samaritan took him off the streets to safety and Fairytail Endings Rescue brought him into their facility. He's about 7 years old, very mellow, house trained, great on the leash, likes car rides and will just chill on the couch with you. He loves his human companions and would make a great addition to the household.

(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)

Good with kids, Good with dogs, Not good with cats, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Carter is a sweet, lovable, and fun dog. He is very calm if you give him time to play and run around. He is now 6 years old, but he has a young soul and needs someone who will be able to give him time, love, and lots of cuddles. He does pull on a leash, so some training would be required to get rid of that behavior. Carter has a strong prey drive so he CANNOT be in a home with small animals or infants, but small dogs and kids who can crawl/walk are fine. I do not know if this behavior can be trained out of him. He tends to struggle with separation anxiety so chew toys are ideal, I can provide some. Ultimately, he is a very good and lovable dog, our schedules are just to busy to give him the life he deserves.

Story
Honey is a great dog with a wonderful personality. She is loving and VERY playful. She has been in our home for over three years and has been around our little girls (6 & 4) the whole time. She loves playing and walking. She would be a great dog for an active family who can walk her daily or has a large yard. Things to note about honey: she has a hard time getting along with our other dog sometimes. Most of the time they are fine but they have gotten into a few scraps that have hurt our other dog. I would say she should be in a home where she is the only dog. She has slight anxiety with loud noises and needs a calm and patient adopter.
