She appeared well cared for — healthy, clean, and in good weight — and we truly expected someone to come searching for her. Sadly, no one ever did, but now Indie Mae is ready to find the forever family she deserves. Indie is a soft-hearted, docile girl that simply wants to make her people happy. She’s a total people pleaser with a calm and submissive personality that makes her easy to love. While she may be bashful at first, her silly side quickly shines through with her short-lived zoomies, oversized ears, and the cutest little overbite that always makes us smile. She does wonderfully with other dogs, is gentle with young kids, and has an easygoing nature that would fit beautifully into many homes. Venus was rescued back in October. Her first week in rescue was 24/7 hospital care on IV liquids, antibiotics, and pain medicine. Her diagnosis included several broken ribs (likely from humans kicking her). We have a strong inkling that Venus somehow escaped from the life of a bait dog for dog fighting which sadly is commonplace in our state. She was very thin, every bone in her body was protruding and she had very infected abcesses all over her body from bite wounds. She had heartworms and has completed the full treatment. She has made a complete recovery and is ready to be a part of a family, something she has never had before! She does not get along with other dogs. Cats aren’t her thing either, but she makes up for it with loyalty, affection, and the sweetest temperament. Venus is ready to brighten someone’s world. Could it be yours? She is currently being fostered in Mississippi but included in your adoption fee is transport to a location near you by Rescue Riders Pet Transport, the most animal friendly transport on the road! Hi everyone! So my friends at Joliet Township Animal Control said I needed to introduce myself to the internet world to see if I can boost my visibility here. I keep hearing over and over that I am the longest resident of 125 plus days. Let me tell you my story.Back in December, I was looking about in a neighborhood for some shelter from the cold and found someone`s back porch. They luckily called animal control and I was scooped up by a female officer that put me in her warm van with a blanket. We took a quick ride to this big facility, where I was greeted by a team of smiles faces and treats. They were examining me and said I was skinny, dirty (how rude!), and needed a bath. After a few pokes of some vaccines, they gave me a warm bath and a soft blanket in my kennel and I felt RELIEVED. It`s been a minute since I have had a bowl of food and warm and somewhere soft to lay down. Days past and adoption day finally came and I was thrilled! I could not wait to start meeting new families! As time went on, people came and went and I was puzzled as to why I was never chosen... I met several families with kids and I showered them with kisses and affection. I met couples and I showed them how fun I could be with toys. I sat patiently for treats and gently took them from their hands. But it wasn`t enough and days and days passed and my kennel walls became my new home...I was originally fine with dogs and loved to play but my stress became unbearable. Hearing 25+ dogs in a room constantly would drive you nuts too. I`m okay with other male dogs that are my size but no small dogs or cats. Thank goodness for the staff and volunteers here. They love to keep me busy with long walks, treats, and peanut butter frisbees (my favorite). You can always know where I am because the staff always greet me with a loud `SIDDDDDDDDDYYYY` and I repay them with my shimmy of my butt and tail wags. I just can`t get enough of it and loves to wet them with a kiss. I hope you all share my story and help me find my forever home. I was in roughhhh shape when I came in and I just need a chance.
