Story
Meet Oreo – Your Perfect-Size Snuggle Buddy Who doesn’t love an Oreo? I’m Oreo, an 11-month-old, 43-pound bully mix from Texas, and I’m just the right size for your heart and your couch. I’m a curious, affectionate pup who loves to watch the world from the window—dogs, people, squirrels, you name it. I’m super food-motivated and eager to please, which makes training a breeze, especially if treats are involved. I may take a second to figure out what you’re asking, but I always try my best to get it right. Physical touch is my love language—I’m a total Velcro dog who needs to be close to my people at all times. I adore snuggles, belly rubs, and go absolutely crazy for butt scratches. I’m playful, goofy, and love curling up next to you (or on you, if you’ll let me). In my foster home, I live with another dog and we get along great. We enjoyed running and playing together at the dog park. I’m fully potty trained and sleep soundly through the night in my crate without any accidents. I’m also good on a leash and enjoy going for walks. I’ve seen children at adoption events and have done well with them, but I don’t currently live with any. I haven’t met any cats yet, so I’m not sure how I’d feel about them. If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal, and cuddly companion who will follow you everywhere and always be ready for snuggles, I might just be the perfect pup for you. I’m a great size and will easily fit in your home, on your lap, or right in the middle of a puppy pile. Could I be the Oreo your life is missing? Our standard adoption fee is $375 cash or check and $385 credit card ($10 processing fee). . It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping. Name: Fletcher Age: 2 years old, 4/4/2023 Weight: 65 lbs Meet Fletcher — Your Lovable Shadow with a Big Heart! Hi, I’m Fletcher, but my friends all call me Bubbas! I’m a 65-pound cuddlebug with a heart just as big as my body. I may take a little time to warm up to new people, but once I do, I’ll be your loyal shadow — always nearby, always leaning in for love (literally…I really like to lean!). I’m fully potty trained and crate trained — though I do appreciate a treat or two to make crate time more appealing. I sleep in my foster’s bed at night and chill in my crate when they’re away. I’m a gentle, affectionate boy who’s a little skittish with loud noises, but I’ll find a safe spot (usually behind you or curled up in my bed) until things settle down. I’ve got a playful side too! I love my toys, though fetch isn’t my strong suit — I’m working on it. I’m not a huge fan of walks (they tire me out fast!), but give me a fenced yard and I’ll happily zoom around with my goofy energy. I walk well on a leash with just a bit of pulling, which I'm continuing to improve. I’ve been great with other dogs, cats, and even small critters in cages. Kids? I’ve met a few, and while I’m not quite sure about them yet (they can be a little loud and unpredictable), I might do well with older, calmer kids who understand I need gentle handling. The perfect home for me would be one that’s laid-back and full of love. I’d thrive with a family who doesn’t mind a constant companion and has a big yard for me to run and play in. If you’re looking for a sweet, goofy, loyal boy to be your sidekick, I might just be the perfect match. Ready to meet your new best friend? I can’t wait to find my forever family! Story
In recognition of Adopt a Senior Month, my adoption fee will be waived from November 17th through November 30th to help me find a loving forever home. Meet Bernie – A Shy Teddy Bear with a Heart of Gold If you’re looking for a gentle soul wrapped in soft fur, Bernie might just be your perfect match. This sweet boy can be a little shy when meeting new people, but give him a bit of time and patience, and you’ll soon discover his true personality — a warm, snuggly teddy bear who will happily melt into your heart. Once Bernie feels safe, his affectionate side shines. He adores quiet moments spent getting chin scritches, or simply lounging beside you as the world drifts by. Outside, Bernie’s happiest with his nose to the ground, taking in all the wonderful smells nature has to offer. Whether it’s a leisurely walk or a sunny afternoon soaking up fresh air, Bernie finds joy in life’s peaceful moments. This clever pup already has excellent manners — he’s potty trained, crate trained, knows his name, and has solid leash skills. He’s also eager to learn and would love to continue growing with a patient family who enjoys gentle training sessions (and plenty of treats — he’s quite the cookie connoisseur!). Bernie would thrive in a calm, quiet home where he can take his time to settle in and feel secure. He’d also be perfectly happy sharing his space with a friendly canine companion who can show him the ropes. If you’re searching for a loyal friend who will reward your kindness with unconditional love and quiet companionship, Bernie is waiting to meet you. Bernie's Favorite Things: Treats: Jerky! Any kind will do, but soft chicken flavored jerky is his top pick Activity: Car rides Relaxation: Sniffy walks Cues Bernie Knows: Sit Down Touch Stay Come Heel Shake/Paw Crate-trained Bernie is an All-Star dog! His adoption comes with some extra benefits at time of adoption. Their adoption appointment includes a discussion with our Training Team, and they will go home with their very own no-pull-harness and a few enrichment goodies to help get them off to a good start! To schedule an appointment to meet Bernie, email info@ahconnects.org (please include your name and phone number), and the staff will be happy to help you! Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (7 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Their adoption also includes a free-vet exam at one of our participating veterinarians. Ask fosters@ahconnects.org about fostering Bernie, while he waits for his forever home!

Story
Meet Kokomo Joe! Looking for a big, lovable goofball to brighten your days? Look no further—Kokomo Joe is here! This 80-85+ lb mixed breed boy may have had a rough start in Texas, but he's ready to leave his past behind and find a forever home filled with love and belly rubs. Kokomo Joe's story is heartbreaking—he was abandoned and starved when his previous owner was incarcerated, leaving him to fend for himself while his housemates were fed. When he first arrived, he was painfully thin, with every rib and his hip bones showing. He also had some food aggression, but who could blame him after all he'd been through? Thankfully, with regular meals and love, he now understands he’ll never go hungry again. He’s no longer protective of his food and hasn’t shown any signs of food aggression since. Despite his past, Kokomo Joe’s spirit shines bright! He’s a true fun-loving goober who doesn’t realize his own size. Whether he’s hopping around like Tigger or cuddling up as if he’s a tiny lap dog, this big guy will keep you smiling. His crate and house manners are spot-on—zero accidents here! He’s even learned to move his crate across the floor, proving he’s as strong as he is sweet. Kokomo Joe gets along with other dogs with proper introductions and would thrive in a home that can continue his training and give him the structure he needs. His ideal family will embrace his goofy, big-hearted nature and help him become the best boy he can be. If you’re ready to welcome this big, bouncy cuddle bug into your life, Kokomo Joe is ready to meet you! Our standard adoption fee is $375 cash or check and $385 credit card ($10 processing fee). .
