At about 3, he’s learning to embrace his new surroundings with curiosity and a gentle heart. While it takes Toby some time to warm up, once he gains your trust, he’s a loyal and friendly companion. Toby isn’t one for big adventures, but he loves simple joys like chewing on bones and enjoying tasty treats. He would thrive in a calm, patient home where he can continue building his confidence at his own pace. If you’re looking for a sweet, low-key pup to share your life with, Toby might be the perfect match!

She has a gentle nature and an affectionate heart, always happiest when she gets to be close to her people. Lucy is the type of dog who brings a soft, steady presence to a home and loves nothing more than sharing quiet moments with her family. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs and enjoys being part of a peaceful pack. Lucy has a friendly, easygoing temperament that makes her a wonderful companion for both humans and pets. Whether she is lounging nearby or following you from room to room, she is happiest when she feels included. She does very well on a leash and enjoys going out for slow, relaxed walks where she can take in the world around her. Meet Penelope 💕 Penelope is an approximately one-year-old Boxer mix who was found wandering the streets of San Antonio, and she’s so ready for her fresh start. This sweet girl has been fully vetted — spayed, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and vaccinated — and now all she needs is a family to call her own. Penelope is on the shy side at first, but she’s blossoming more every single day. Once she feels safe, her affectionate nature shines. She absolutely loves to cuddle and be close to her people. Her favorite place is right next to you — leaning gently against your legs or curled up beside you on the couch. And when she’s around her people? Her tail wags so fast it’s practically a blur. She weighs about 50 pounds, but her short little legs give her the cutest, slightly compact look. She walks nicely on a leash, is crate trained, and is potty trained — such a good girl. Penelope is okay with other dogs, though she can get overwhelmed and nervous in busy situations. She would likely do best in a calm, patient home that will continue building her confidence. She hasn’t shown much reaction to cats so far, though she has recently become interested in outdoor critters, so her full personality in that regard is still unfolding. Penelope is simply happy to be part of a family. After surviving on her own, she treasures being indoors, safe, and loved. With a little patience and reassurance, this gentle girl will reward you with unwavering loyalty, soft cuddles, and the happiest little tail wags you’ve ever seen. Story
Toby is a 2.5-year-old, 70-lb pit bull terrier with a huge heart and an even bigger personality. His past is largely unknown, and I adopted him from a shelter about two months ago hoping to give him a fresh start. Toby is truly an amazing dog, but I’ve come to the difficult realization that I’m not trained or equipped to give him the life he truly needs. Toby is fully potty trained and crate trained and does best with routine and structure. He loves cuddling, being outside, and playing with his stuffed animals—sticks are his absolute favorite. He bonds deeply with his person and is very loyal and protective of those he trusts. It’s important to be transparent: Toby does have a bite history, primarily in stressful or unfamiliar situations. These behaviors come from fear and protectiveness, not a lack of love. Because of this, Toby will need an experienced, confident owner who understands protective or reactive dogs and can provide clear boundaries, patience, and continued training.
