Luke is a super chill dude who is looking for a soft place to land. Until recently, his happy days were simple and full of love. He spent his time hanging on the couch with his mom, going for car rides around town, and taking slow strolls through the neighborhood while sniffing every smell along the way. Those were his favorite things. Then one day, his mama went to the hospital and did not come home. She is now in a nursing home, and Luke is understandably sad and confused. His whole world changed overnight. What has not changed is what a good boy he is. Luke is an almost 9 year old, neutered male chocolate Lab Boxer mix who is up to date on his vaccines. He is calm, sensitive, and incredibly in tune with his people. If you are feeling under the weather or just having a hard day, Luke will be right there with you. He has a quiet way of showing up that makes you feel less alone. He does okay with kids but truly prefers a more laidback home. Loud, chaotic environments are not his style. He thrives with calm energy, cozy couches, and people who appreciate a slower pace. He gets along well with other dogs and has even lived peacefully with dogs who do not always play nicely with others. He is not looking for drama. He is looking for companionship. Luke would love a home where he can: • Relax on the couch • Go for easy, sniff filled walks • Ride shotgun on car trips • Maybe share your bed, although that might be negotiable He has already loved deeply once in his life. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Quest was surrendered to the shelter on 5/9/2025 due to rental restrictions. He is 4 years old and was a very loved dog who had lived in his home his whole life. His owners were forced to relocate and couldn't find an affordable place that would accept dogs like him. Quest is a mix of boxer, Doberman, and pit bull, and he is big and strong. He has been fully vetted and microchipped. His fee of $150 is fully sponsored. Quest did live with his canine sibling in his home and was fine. They grew up together. We do think that he'd be okay with a mellow female dog of similar size. No smaller animals. He would do best in an adult only home. Teens are okay.  Shelter life has been hard on our Quest and he has lost a significant amount of weight. We've had him completely vet checked and this weight loss is due to the stress of the shelter environment. He would make a very loving and loyal companion. He needs a home! NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. A kind Samaritan reached out on her behalf and we were able to get her to us here at PCHS.Shayna spent several weeks getting some much needed TLC. She enjoys cuddling up on cozy beds, spending time with people, and having a tasty treat! Shayna is a large girl and is nearing 70 pounds. She is estimated to be a mixed breed girl and is thought to be around 3 years old. She would thrive in a home that has time to show her structure, consistency and unwavering love. Dover is a nearly 2-year-old pittie with an all-white coat, a big, blocky pittie head, and movie-star good looks. Weighing in at about 60 pounds, he’s a solid, handsome guy who turns heads wherever he goes.Dover came to PCHS from one of our rescue partners and is truly a good boy. Like many young pitties, he’s still learning his manners and would benefit from continued obedience training. When he gets overly excited, he can be a bit mouthy, so we recommend a home where children are 12 years and older. He would be best as the only pet in the home with no cats or other dogs. With structure, consistency, and positive training, Dover has tons of potential to be an amazing companion. He’s at that fun, goofy age where he’s eager to learn and ready to bond with his people. ***This dog is housed at the Rochester Animal Control facility. In order to meet her, you need to submit an adoption application first. Applications can be found on the homepage of the Paws and Claws website. Once you submit an application, a PCHS staff member will contact you with next steps to meet her.***Meet Kiera! This sweet girl was surrendered to Rochester Animal Control when her owners could no longer care for her. She is a middle aged girl and weighs just under 70 pounds. Kiera was unsure and nervous when she first arrived at animal control, but she is starting to learn how nice the officers are and she is picking up her new routine. Kiera walks well on a leash and would be perfect for a family who wants a more mature dog that does not have a ton of puppy energy, but is up for going on leisurely walks around the neighborhood. Kiera has lived with other dogs and has done well with that. She is hoping her stay at animal control can be short! Could she be the perfect match for you?
