Story
Miller is hanging out over at Animal Control. He originally came in with another boxer after being found out wandering on their own. They both were eventually released to Animal Control. Typical of his breed, Miller is an energetic boy. He was adopted once and returned. It was reported that he was jumping up on his owner and had some separation anxiety. He would do well at a home where he gets plenty of physical and mental stimulation. Formal training could help Miller learn to keep “four on the floor.“He’s a very affectionate dog. While Miller has gotten along with other dogs in the past, he would need to meet a potential canine housemate to ensure that they could be friends. Miller knows some basic commands and is house trained. He is up-to-date on all of his vetting and is neutered. If you are interested in meeting Miller, apply online, and we will set up a time to meet with one of the officers.*Applications for adoption can be found on the homepage of the website.**Adoption fee: $350 + $30 microchip fee + tax

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Quest was surrendered to the shelter on 5/9/2025 due to rental restrictions. He is 4 years old and was a very loved dog who had lived in his home his whole life. His owners were forced to relocate and couldn't find an affordable place that would accept dogs like him. Quest is a mix of boxer, Doberman, and pit bull, and he is big and strong. He has been fully vetted and microchipped. His fee of $150 is fully sponsored. Quest did live with his canine sibling in his home and was fine. They grew up together. We do think that he'd be okay with a mellow female dog of similar size. No smaller animals. He would do best in an adult only home. Teens are okay.  Shelter life has been hard on our Quest and he has lost a significant amount of weight. We've had him completely vet checked and this weight loss is due to the stress of the shelter environment. He would make a very loving and loyal companion. He needs a home! NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 7, 2026, 12:49 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Nanette came to us from the city pound when her legal stray hold was finished and no one had claimed her. She appears to be a pit bull/boxer mix and we think she's around 3 years old. She did have some hair loss when she arrived, which we think was due to a prior flea issue (we treated her right away), but otherwise looks good. She will be vet checked and spayed on April 2nd and her fee is $150. Nanette is a gem! She is a happy and loving girl who is fairly well mannered and appears to have had some basic training. She currently weighs around 55 pounds and is somewhat short and stocky. We do think Nanette would be okay with a well mannered male dog and kids over 5. We have no way of knowing how she would be with cats. Story
Doug is in the house! This big, handsome boy is Doug. He came to PCHS when he was found as a stray and no one claim to claim him. While we do not know a lot about his back ground, we do know that he is super friendly, loves people, and has an exceptional enthusiasm for life! Doug is estimated to be a pitty/lab mix and roughly 2 years old. He does know some very basic commands such as sit, he will need some practice with his leash manners. He is a very strong boy and using a harness to walk him would be recommended. Doug is a smart boy and would likely learn more commands with some time and consistency. He would love a fenced in yard where he can run around and burn off some energy, however, we are not requiring it. Doug would do best with another dog who can match his play style, or being the center of your attention! He would do best in a home without cats. If Doug sounds like he could be a good fit for you, apply online today!*Kids 16 years of age or olderAdoption fee is $350 + $30 microchip fee + tax
