Meet Penelope 💕 Penelope is an approximately one-year-old Boxer mix who was found wandering the streets of San Antonio, and she’s so ready for her fresh start. This sweet girl has been fully vetted — spayed, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and vaccinated — and now all she needs is a family to call her own. Penelope is on the shy side at first, but she’s blossoming more every single day. Once she feels safe, her affectionate nature shines. She absolutely loves to cuddle and be close to her people. Her favorite place is right next to you — leaning gently against your legs or curled up beside you on the couch. And when she’s around her people? Her tail wags so fast it’s practically a blur. She weighs about 50 pounds, but her short little legs give her the cutest, slightly compact look. She walks nicely on a leash, is crate trained, and is potty trained — such a good girl. Penelope is okay with other dogs, though she can get overwhelmed and nervous in busy situations. She would likely do best in a calm, patient home that will continue building her confidence. She hasn’t shown much reaction to cats so far, though she has recently become interested in outdoor critters, so her full personality in that regard is still unfolding. Penelope is simply happy to be part of a family. After surviving on her own, she treasures being indoors, safe, and loved. With a little patience and reassurance, this gentle girl will reward you with unwavering loyalty, soft cuddles, and the happiest little tail wags you’ve ever seen. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Quest was surrendered to the shelter on 5/9/2025 due to rental restrictions. He is 4 years old and was a very loved dog who had lived in his home his whole life. His owners were forced to relocate and couldn't find an affordable place that would accept dogs like him. Quest is a mix of boxer, Doberman, and pit bull, and he is big and strong. He has been fully vetted and microchipped. His fee of $150 is fully sponsored. Quest did live with his canine sibling in his home and was fine. They grew up together. We do think that he'd be okay with a mellow female dog of similar size. No smaller animals. He would do best in an adult only home. Teens are okay.  Shelter life has been hard on our Quest and he has lost a significant amount of weight. We've had him completely vet checked and this weight loss is due to the stress of the shelter environment. He would make a very loving and loyal companion. He needs a home! NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. A kind Samaritan reached out on her behalf and we were able to get her to us here at PCHS.Shayna spent several weeks getting some much needed TLC. She enjoys cuddling up on cozy beds, spending time with people, and having a tasty treat! Shayna is a large girl and is nearing 70 pounds. She is estimated to be a mixed breed girl and is thought to be around 3 years old. She would thrive in a home that has time to show her structure, consistency and unwavering love. Dover is a nearly 2-year-old pittie with an all-white coat, a big, blocky pittie head, and movie-star good looks. Weighing in at about 60 pounds, he’s a solid, handsome guy who turns heads wherever he goes.Dover came to PCHS from one of our rescue partners and is truly a good boy. Like many young pitties, he’s still learning his manners and would benefit from continued obedience training. When he gets overly excited, he can be a bit mouthy, so we recommend a home where children are 12 years and older. He would be best as the only pet in the home with no cats or other dogs. With structure, consistency, and positive training, Dover has tons of potential to be an amazing companion. He’s at that fun, goofy age where he’s eager to learn and ready to bond with his people. Meet Rubble!Rubble is a mid aged bulldog who came to PCHS from another impound. This boy is equal parts cute, stubborn, goofy, and sassy! He has wrinkles for days and an underbite smile that is sure to melt the heart of all bulldog lovers. Rubble will do best in a home who has experience with bulldog or bulldog like breeds. He has not been dog or cat tested at this time, but due to his disposition, it is believed he would prefer to be the one and only. However, we are willing to try some dog meet and greets to see if maybe he`d accept a canine friend!Like many Bulldogs, he has some ongoing skin sensitivities that will require routine vet visits and consistent care. His future family should be prepared to stay on top of check-ups, maintain any recommended treatments, and keep those adorable wrinkles clean and healthy. The good news?
