Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.BOURNVILLE hails from a Southern community in Ontario and came into the rescue with her 3 siblings, Milky Bar, Galaxy and Dairy Milk. They came into Rescue on the Easter weekend so they received the litter name of the  “Chocolates’s” and this cute girl is now looking for her forever home. She’s had her 3 sets of puppy vaccines including rabies, a microchip, “Interceptor Plus” dewormer and been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. We do have a picture of her mum and she looks like a Border Collie mix but we have no info on dad. Seeing as she comes from a community with lots of stray dogs she no doubt has many different breeds in her and they could additionally include Shepherd, Black Lab and even Husky. We also have no idea on the size she’ll grow to be so the size we have in this post is just a guess. She really loves to socialize with people and run up to them with her tail just a wagging to greet them. With her happy personality and loving  BOURNVILLE is sweet, playful and full of curiosity. This lovely girl loves to spend time outside playing in her fenced-in yard. When her playtime is over she’s all about the cuddles and she’ll happily curl up in your lap for some quality nap time. With her happy personality and loving nature she’s ready to find her forever home where she can continue to thrive and grow. BOURNVILLE is crate trained and picked up on that very quickly as she’s a very smart girl. She’ll sleep quietly in it at night but in the day she does like to sleep on her dog bed. She’s doing really well with her house training and is just starting to let you know she needs to go outside for a bathroom break. She loves to go for walks and she’s now almost up to doing 30 minutes at a time. She has met several friendly dogs on her walks and she’s a bit reserved at first but soon relaxes and has been able to greet them nicely. Due to teething, she’s at a chewing stage and needs lots of chewy toys to satisfy that urge not to chew on anything that she shouldn’t. She really loves to chew on a Nyla bone to keep those little teeth busy too. She’s starting to learn a couple of basic commands already such as “sit” for her meals and treats and to take them “gentle.” BOURNVILLE’s ideal family would be a quiet one and one who loves the outdoors, going on hikes, walks and will take her on adventures with them. Ideally someone would be home with her for most of the day as she loves to be around her people. She really loves to go in a vehicle and will just rest in her crate and quietly enjoy being driven around. There’s not a dog or a cat in her foster home so if there’s either in her new home then they should be dog savvy and we always recommend that a slow, monitored introduction be made between them while the puppy is on a leash for initial meetings. She needs a fenced-in yard and children should be aged 10yrs and up plus be gentle, loving and caring towards animals.  BOURNVILLE was adopted but after 3 weeks she was returned to the rescue and we feel it was through no fault of her own. When meeting new people she needs her space. If you try to approach her with hands out she’ll back up and try to leave the area and/or hide behind her ‘safe person.’ The safest way to approach her is by following the ‘no touch, no talk and no eye contact’ rule to avoid triggering a flight or fight response. She has successfully met groups of people with this technique and when she was ready, she approached each person on her own and had a good sniff and then said ‘hello.’  She is wary of tall men and offers a small grumble initially to express her concern but with the same approach as already mentioned, she quickly relaxes.  BOURNVILLE, like all puppies is cute, playful and a fun puppy but she’ll also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We need her adopter to commit to sign her up for puppy training/obedience classes so she can be the most well behaved puppy possible. Her spay is included in her adoption fee and her potential adopter must be in agreement to have her spay performed by the time she’s 6 months of age. It will either be at our vet’s office or be at the Barrie SPCA. You do have the option to use your own vet and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for it there. However her spay will still have to be performed in the above timeframe for the reimbursement and we’ll need a copy of the procedure invoice and an updated photo of her (preferably in a onsie or cone after the surgery.) The photo will be put on our fb page along with other animals that were spay/neutered that same week. If BOURNVILLE sounds like she’d suit your home and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet her. It should be noted that puppies personalities can change daily/weekly as their little brains develop. We try to keep our puppy postings as up-to-date as possible but due to their development, it’s not always possible to note 100% accurate behavioural information. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 9, 2026, 5:55 pm

Story
Traye is a handsome and determined boy, always on a mission to explore and discover the world around him! He loves going for walks and checking out every new scent and sight. Traye is selective with other dogs, so he’ll need a home with a secure, fully fenced backyard to give him the space he needs. Deeply loyal to his people, Traye thrives in an adult-only home where his protective instincts are understood and respected. When new people enter his space, he will need a separate area to ensure everyone’s safety and to help him feel secure. Once Traye becomes more comfortable, he will benefit from slow, muzzled introductions to new people in his home, with initial introductions outside the home helping him adjust to newcomers in a less stressful way. With the right guidance and structure, Traye has the potential to be an incredibly loving and devoted companion. If you're experienced and ready to give him the time and patience he needs, Traye will reward you with a strong bond and unwavering loyalty.

Story
Meet Ruby, a strong-hearted lady with a remarkable story. She was found alone on the streets while pregnant, and after a challenging start, Ruby has been transferred to our shelter where she can receive the specialized care she truly deserves. Ruby has been diagnosed with Degenerative Valvular Disease, which affects all the valves of her heart. We're currently working with a cardiologist to further understand her condition, but at this time, she doesn't require any medication or activity restrictions. Ruby also suffers from allergies and needs a special diet and treats to keep her skin and ears in the best condition. Ruby may initially be shy when meeting new people, but don’t let her reserved nature fool you! Once she feels safe and comfortable, she blossoms into a bundle of pure love and affection. Her big heart is just waiting to connect with someone who can offer her the patience and understanding she needs to build confidence. Ruby is currently a work in progress and would thrive in a home with an experienced adopter who can continue her leash training. Due to her past experiences, Ruby can be reactive to other dogs, and we're carefully assessing her socialization skills. Her ideal family would be one with teens or adults who can provide a calm, consistent environment and appreciate Ruby’s unique personality. Despite her challenges, Ruby is more than her past – she’s a powerful girl with an enormous capacity for love, just waiting to share her heart with the right family. Ruby needs a calm, understanding home where she can continue her healing journey, build trust, and become the loving companion she was always meant to be. Could you be the one to help her grow into the incredible dog she’s destined to be?
