Story
Hi there! I’m Gizmo. I might take a little time to figure you out at first, but once I do… well, you’ve got a friend for life! I came to the shelter as a stray and I was pretty thin and under the weather, so I really love my food and treats—honestly, I get pretty excited about them. A little snack is all it takes for me to warm up, and then I’m full of tail wags, soft body language, and leaning in for pets. I absolutely love toys, and I’m a total goof when it comes to playtime. I’ll squeak, shake, and trade toys with you, and I think interactive games are the best! I already know how to sit, and I’m super eager to learn more, especially if treats are involved. When I’m out on leash, I’m curious and confident—I love to sniff everything, though I might pull a bit if something really catches my attention. I’m still working on housetraining, so a consistent routine and supervision will help me shine. Because I used to be underweight, I eat quickly and don’t want to leave my bowl mid-meal. I haven’t shown guarding behavior here, but it’s a good idea to feed me in a quiet spot and use things like slow feeders or trading treats so mealtime stays safe and happy. I take treats gently, and I’m usually happy to swap items if you’ve got something better! I love being handled and petted, and I’ll often pop up my front paws just to say hello. I’ve met some respectful dogs and did well, so I might enjoy having a calm canine buddy. I’d probably do great with dog-savvy kids too. I haven’t met cats yet, but with careful introductions, I might be okay. I could even live in an apartment, as long as I get the attention, play, and love I need. If you’re looking for a loyal, playful, affectionate companion who bonds deeply once I know you’re on my team, I’m ready to be that dog for you. I’m Gizmo, and I can’t wait to meet my forever person! I am a special paws adoption, which means I do have medical needs that need tending to. I have chronic dry eye and will likely need lifelong treatment and I possibly have allergies, but because of this, my adoption fee is totally up to you ($30 admin fee still applies)!
