Story
Meet Steely Dan – A Survivor, A Sweetheart, A Superstar Steely Dan has endured more than most dogs ever should, but you’d never know it from the way he lights up a room. At just 1.5 years old and 63 pounds, this resilient pup has come through malnourishment, dog attacks, and a violent injury that left a hole in his ear—yet his heart is as full and open as ever. Now healthy, neutered, and thriving in his foster home, Steely Dan is bursting with love, energy, and joy. He’s the kind of dog who greets each day with excitement, ready for snuggles, zoomies, and whatever fun might come his way. He’s as happy curled up next to you on the couch as he is bouncing around the yard with a toy in his mouth. What makes Steely Dan so special? He’s incredibly smart and picked up potty training in just 24 hours. He already knows "sit" and "down" and is eager to learn more—especially when treats are involved. He adores people of all ages, but has shown a particular gentleness and affection with his foster’s 7-year-old daughter, who has special needs. He’s calm and patient with her, and seems to intuitively understand what it means to be gentle. Steely Dan rides beautifully in the car and lives for a good adventure. He’s not stubborn or overly independent—he simply wants to be near his people, soaking up love and giving it right back. Due to the trauma in his past, he may need time and patience when meeting other dogs, and a home without cats would be best for him. But with a slow, thoughtful introduction and a little guidance, he has the potential to blossom into the perfect companion. Steely Dan is looking for a home that can match his capacity for love and loyalty—a family who will treasure his goofiness and protect his sensitive soul. Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home. Story
Rocco has spent months waiting for a place to call home. At just 10 months old, he’s still learning what it means to feel safe, to trust, and to let his guard down. Found alongside another dog, his past is a mystery, but one thing is clear—this sweet, loyal boy is ready to find a family who will give him the love and patience he needs to truly shine. Once Rocco knows he can trust you, his true personality starts to emerge. He’s affectionate and playful, eager to soak up every bit of love and attention. He’s the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation—he loves going for walks just as much as he loves curling up for a nap. He’s already house and crate trained and knows basic commands like sit, stay, and lay down. While Rocco adores his people, he needs a little extra time to warm up to strangers, especially men. He’s also selective with other dogs and needs slow introductions to feel comfortable. Because of his nervous nature, he wouldn’t do well in a home with children. What Rocco needs most is a calm, patient family willing to show him that the world isn’t such a scary place. He’s looking for someone who will give him the time he needs to trust, and in return, he’ll offer a lifetime of unwavering loyalty and love. If you can be that person for Rocco, he’s more than ready to meet you. Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home. Story
Citrus was living alone in an abandoned house with no doors or windows. We trapped her, and she got very upset. Citrus was growling for many many days, and did not allow any handling. She finally came around to trust us, and is now a loving sweetheart. Citrus wants an understanding foster-to-adopt home, who wants to baby her. She is estimated to be 2-4 years old, and a mix between English Bulldog and Boxer. Citrus has a classic cautious and disapproving yet personable English Bulldog personality, and the silly play style of a Boxer. We are looking for a household without children for Citrus. Leashed walks are fine, she does not require a fenced in yard. Citrus has dog friends at the shelter - but incorporating her into a home dynamic with other dogs will take weeks. If you are up for it, we can discuss. We cover all needed vet care. The adoption fee is $275. Please apply through our website: rebeldogsdetroit.com/applytoadopt
