Story
Meet Ghost 🐾 Ghost is a sweet, affectionate, people-loving dog who loves cuddles and being included as part of the family. He enjoys sitting close, treats, and bonding with his humans. He would do best with another friendly dog, as he enjoys companionship. Ghost is not crate-kept, is house- and pad-trained, and responds well to routine and gentle guidance. He loves being outside and benefits from safe outdoor time. Due to my own medical challenges, I can not provide the care he deserves. This decision is made out of love.

**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Moon. I'm about 3 years old and I weigh about 68 lbs. I was found as a stray in the Lisbon area and I was brought as a pound. I am a very sweet girl with people. I've been a total love bug. I love attention and affection. Scritch scratches and belly rubs are pretty cool! I have been a pretty good girl around the other dogs that I've met since making my way into the pound too. The pound does always recommend meet and greets with any other dogs I would potentially live with just to make sure we get along well. I do have separation anxiety and would do best if kept in a heavy duty crate while you're away from home to help keep both me and your home and things safe. I have been clean in my kennel at night and I appear to be at least mostly potty trained. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Turkey. I'm about 1-2 years old and I weigh about 75 lbs. I was brought into the pound just before Thanksgiving with 2 badly injured back legs and other injuries. After lots of vet care, my "good" leg healed enough to allow for the amputation of my other back leg. I spent a couple of weeks in foster care with a wonderful family to heal and be loved. I am now back and looking for a new family to love! Despite having lost a limb, I was already used to not using my leg, so I'm pretty unaffected by no longer having it. I can be a little leery of strangers and it can take me just a little time to adjust to new people, but once I get the chance to know you're a good human, I am a sweet, sweet boy!! I absolutely LOVE children. I am extremely affectionate with people, but especially with kids. I love to snuggle up with you on the couch or in bed! I was most definitely a house dog. I am a a VERY good boy inside. Aside from an occasional accident, I appear to be housebroken. Once I learn your schedule, I should have no issues with potty habits. I do well with other dogs and cats! If you're looking for a wonderful tripod companion, please consider me! Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. Story
Hi, I’m Bronx. I’m a shy guy with a really big heart. I recently came to the shelter when my family went through some changes and couldn’t keep me anymore. It was hard, but I’m doing my best and staying hopeful. When we first meet, I might seem a little reserved. New people can make me nervous at first. But if you give me a little time (and maybe a few tasty treats), you’ll see my true self come out. Once I trust you, I’m incredibly sweet, loving, and eager to please.Treats are definitely the fastest way to my heart, and if there’s snow on the ground? That’s pure magic to me. I love playing outside, frolicking in the snow, and enjoying winter days with my people. I also enjoy playing with humans and being part of the fun.I’ve been working hard on my training, including basic obedience and crate training, and I’m doing really well. I want to make my people happy, so learning comes naturally to me. I’m house-broken, crate nicely, and I’ve been told I was probably a couch dog before because I really love a comfy spot to relax. (Your couch might become my favorite place.)I’m still learning some polite manners and could benefit from training classes to help with a bit of mouthy behavior, but I’m eager to learn and would love someone patient and kind to guide me.If you’re looking for a gentle soul who just needs a little time to feel safe, I promise I’ll reward you with loyalty, love, and the sweetest bond you can imagine. If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Dogs are individuals and have personality conflicts, just like us. Play groups do not guarantee that territorial or resource guarding issues will not surface in the home. While play groups do help us get to know the dog`s better, once they are adopted their new environments and new relationships will influence their behavior in ways we cannot predict. The Adoption Fee Includes:- initial canine distemper combination vaccination- first worming or stool check- rabies vaccination (for animals over 3 months of age)- 24 Petwatch microchipping- flea treatment/preventative- spaying or neutering-heartworm testingAdoption fee: $135.00Per state law, ALL ADOPTERS must purchase a non-refundable 2025 dog license at time of adoption for any canine three months and older. The cost of the license is $9.20. (Senior
