Story
I’m Axel a playful, friendly, happy, 1-year-old Staffordshire Terrier. I am quite handsome with beautiful cream and tan markings and soft eyes. When the volunteers arrive at the shelter, I am usually the first dog out for a walk because I am a good leash walker and everyone loves my warm personality. I was recently adopted and returned to the shelter as I don`t get along with cats. Who knew, I learned something new about myself! I need to be the only dog in your home without small pets. I enjoy playing as it provides me with the mental stimulation that I need as a puppy. I am a fetch champion and will run with one ball in my mouth to eagerly get to a second ball. A home with access to an enclosed yard would be great because watching me run and play is a thing of happiness. I need a person to be my friend, coach, trainer and pack leader that can provide routine structure for me, calmness, loving touch, and planned outlets for my playful energy. I am a puppy who easily attaches to people, absolutely melts for cuddles, rubs, and all the affection you can share.I am an entertaining dog that likes to do fun things. I get a goofy smile on my face when I am happy and that is most of the time. As a young dog I am looking forward to finding someone to bond with.I am microchipped, up to date on vaccines, neutered and I am good on a leash, house trained, and a true love bug.If I sound like a fantastic addition to your active lifestyle, please come a spend some time with me. Contact the great people at the Humane Society of Sedona to make an appointment for a meet and greet at: 928.282.4679 any day of the week 10am-4pm; excluding major holidays. I hope that you’ll be the person to make my dreams of a second family come true!

Story
My husband and I received an email about a Black Lab that needed a home FAST. She was in the Casa Grande KILL shelter. We live in Chino Valley, drove down and brought her home. As you can see by the pictures she doesn’t have much of the Lab gene but she seemed to settle in well and we call her Wingnut. She rides well in the car, walks on a lead, she runs and play well with our other dogs. The problem is with our old gal Mia. She is 14 years old has arthritis and even with meds she is in pain. Over the years there have a few problems but all SMALL. Lately the problems have turned into fighting and getting worse each time. This is the only reason we need to rehome Wingnut. Wingnut is a good dog. Her favorite places are next to you, her head in your lap, definitely looking 👀 for belly rubs, and always available for cleaning the kitchen floor. She has been to training class with United Animal Friend. She learned, behaved well, and had no interaction trouble.

Story
Chad is such a sweet & shy dog who came from a rough past and he's just now learning that humans can be kind. He has slowly been making progress at the shelter, but he really needs a home & committed family to continue his training & socialization. What we know: -Shy but very food motivated. Treats & meal time is the way to his heart to help him bond with his family. -Gets along with some dogs, but he gets picked on by a lot of dogs here at the shelter :( He would love a friendly dog friend to show him the ropes and play with him. -Working on potty training, crate training, leash walking etc. He will need your support & love to master these in a home! -He would love a confident, experienced dog owner to help him learn & grow! -Unknown how he is with kids or cats. But we would recommend no young kids due to his fearful nature. Come meet me at High Country Humane located at 11665 N. Highway 89, Flagstaff, AZ 86004. Our shelter is open Thursday–Tuesday, 11am–5pm, and closed on Wednesdays. Adopting with High Country Humane means your new pet is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped (we register it for free!). Each adoption also includes a free health exam. Please bring a leash and collar with you or plan to purchase here. We can’t wait to help you meet your new furry friend!

Story
Lizzie is looking for a loving home! Things the team knows about me: - I have been in a foster home since coming to the shelter, and I love it there SO much because I get lots of attention and love! - I LOVE being around people! - I am very smart. - I love to cuddle on the couch. - I am learning how to walk better on a leash (I'm just so strong, excited and full of energy!) - I would need to do a meet-and-greet with any other dogs before coming home with you! - I am NOT good with cats and other animals. Contact my foster by TEXT at 480-298- 6888 to set up a meet-n-greet or ask additional questions! A note from my foster: " Lizzie has loved every single person that she has met and she is getting accustomed to our horses, llamas and alpacas, too! She’s still not a fan of cats, unfortunately, but she is showing a lot of friendly interest in other dogs. She is continuing to learn better leash manners and has still never had one potty accident in our home! She is super curious about sounds, especially music and cocks her head side to side watching television. She is loving her favorite ball and human snuggles the most. She might howl for a minute after I leave her, but settles quickly. Lizzie will make a great companion." Adopting with High Country Humane means your new pet is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped (we register it for free!). Each adoption also includes a free health exam.
