Story
Teddy aka Joe is foster dog no.16 for me AND THE EASIEST OF ALL!! Gentle and affectionate, but also up for a good tug-of-war and a brisk walk. He runs in the yard then cuddles on the couch. Treated for heartworm and on regular meds. He is polite, obedient (not formally trained), crates on command and just SWEET!!! A bit of history explains the profile answers. Teddy has not had great humans in his life. Scars say he was abused; skeptical of strangers who grab at him likely from being handled roughly in shelters. Adopted by a family whose little boy used him as a trampoline. He objected doggy-style and they sent him away. One of the foster homes he stays in does have a 2 yr old and cats and he gets along fine. My answer is to caution adopters to take it slow (with any dog!) and be gentle. This is the reason for the suggestion of an experienced adopter -- no need to be a certified dog trainer, just aware of how to help a dog with a mixed history get comfortable with new surroundings.
