Story
Gus was dropped off on our property in Sept 2023, during a heat wave. He was scared, shaking, hungry and thirsty, so we fed him. We attempted to call the Humane Society and other resources, but nobody is/was taking surrenders. This is our only avenue. We can't abandon him on someone's property, but we have to rehome him. My husband has health challenges requiring many dr's appts and I work full time, so we have little time to spend with him. He's a very sweet, loving and smart dog. He knows commands and he will let you know if he needs to go outside. He's still young, so he has a lot of energy and loves to chew things. Toys and bones seems to tame that quite a bit. He seems unamused by the feral cats on our property and they feel comfortable walking by him, so he appears to have been around other cats at some point or just isn't interested, but can't be sure. We estimate he's around 1 yr old.

Story
Dudley arrived at our rescue very sick, after medical evaluation we made him an appointment at UC Davis with a specialist. The soonest appointment available was a month out, we honestly didn’t know if he would survive that long. We found him a foster home, so he’d be in a loving home environment and he is a fighter.  Following his UC Davis appointment was some good news, as well as bed news.  Dudley has more congenital heart defects than expected, as well as a couple of anomalies. The good news is he should be able to live a mostly normal life on medication  for 4-7 years. His foster mom said the medication is helping tremendously. He is running and playing like a normal pup!  He does well with most dogs, even chickens, and he is house broken. Dudley is ready to find his forever home. Please fill out an online application if you’d like to have this special guy join your family.   Apply to adopt by clicking on the link below http://www.wagsandwhiskerspetrescue.com/adopt.html Thank you so much for looking into wags and whiskers for your next family member. All of our pets are up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm tested if over 6 months old and will be spayed or neutered before being allowed to go home.  Unfortunately, we don't always know the background of each dog. Some were dumped, abandoned in an empty house, left tied to a tree, picked up by animal control as strays, or simply unwanted by their owners. Please take into consideration that owning a pet is a 10+ year commitment and discuss with all members of your family before submitting an application to adopt.  If you have already filled out an online adoption application with our organization in the last 6 months you do not need to fill out another application. Please call or email us to schedule an appointment.  530-895-8888 If you are interested in meeting this pet please apply to adopt at http://www.wagsandwhiskerspetrescue.com/adopt.html if the pet is still available for adoption and you are approved to adopt we will contact you to set up a meet and greet appointment.    March 2, 2024, 5:16 pm

Story
My story is very sad.  My owner recently passed away and his best friend took all 5 of us in so we wouldn’t get euthanized at the shelter.  They are all full and euthanasia rates are high, again.  However, temp dad already has a full house and we are adding to the load.  I need to find a permanent home or foster as soon as possible.  I get along great with my dog pack, but can be iffy with new dogs.  Bosco and I get along great, if you have room for 2.  I’d do best with children over 5.  I do love to swim, I’d even be happy in a kiddie pool.  Adopt me please and let’s go swim together.   Apply to adopt by clicking on the link below http://www.wagsandwhiskerspetrescue.com/adopt.html Thank you so much for looking into wags and whiskers for your next family member. Story
Hey everyone, meet Rubble, a sweet senior pittie who's had a rough ride lately. He was adopted back in 2018 but ended up back at the shelter, blind and heartbroken. Poor guy just wants to go back home. We're not sure why he was surrendered, but it's clear Rubble misses his old digs. Right now, he's crashing at a foster home, trying to get used to things. But he could use some help, like a dental cleaning and blood work, to make sure he's feeling his best. Plus, we're on the lookout for a forever family willing to love a blind senior pup for life. &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 If you can chip in, check out our Amazon wishlist for supplies and CBD oil to help calm his nerves. Let's show Rubble that he's found his forever home this time. #SupportRubble #SeniorDog #RescueDog #NeverAbandonedMarch 2, 2024, 5:16 pm
