She literally exemplifies all of the best characteristics of the breed. Meet Arlo! A spirited two-and-a-half-year-old American Pitbull Terrier currently living in Hilliard, FL, whose heart is as big as his 75-pound frame. With his buff tan coat and charming white accents, Arlo is a showstopper, but it’s his personality that truly steals the spotlight! He’s a loving, silly, and devoted companion who thrives on being by his favorite person’s side—whether that means adventuring on a hiking trail, cruising in the car, or simply snuggling up on the couch. Arlo is the ultimate sidekick! Whatever you're doing, he wants in! He’s a curious, enthusiastic explorer who finds joy in everything from chasing his favorite flirt pole to "helping" with household tasks (his definition of helping might just be moral support, but it’s adorable nonetheless). He’s energetic and playful, yet when the day winds down, he transforms into a professional cuddle bug, happiest when curled up right next to you. This smart boy has had formal training and knows a variety of commands—sit, down, stay, wait, leave it, drop it (he might negotiate for a trade on that one), and come. He’s also crate trained, house-trained, and non-destructive when left alone. Arlo thrives on routine and loves his cozy crate, especially when it comes with his favorite peanut butter-stuffed Kong. While Arlo has many wonderful qualities, he does need a home where he’s the only pet. He is extremely dog-reactive, especially on a leash, and has been involved in fights with another dog in his home. He also has resource-guarding tendencies, which means he does best in a structured environment with clear boundaries. He is not compatible with cats or other animals. His caregivers have worked extensively with trainers and a behaviorist, who recommend that he be the only animal in the home. When it comes to people, Arlo is affectionate and eager to bond, though his excitement sometimes gets the best of him. He’d do well with someone patient, understanding, and ready to make him their world. A loyal seven-and-a-half-year-old American Pitbull Terrier currently living in Lexington, NC, whose heart is as big as his 65-pound frame and whose gentle eyes hint at the devoted companion he’s ready to be. Dover is a calm, affectionate fellow who thrives in a structured, peaceful environment. With his white coat patched in classic black and a soft spot for cozy napping spots, he's the kind of pup who makes the perfect couch buddy! His favorite pastimes include playing fetch with his beloved ball, going for relaxed strolls, and curling up for some quality cuddle time with his favorite human. House-trained and fully comfortable roaming indoors, Dover loves having his creature comforts, especially a good snuggle spot and the occasional grain-free treat from his special Purina diet. Having completed professional training, Dover is a gentleman on the leash and knows all the basics like sit, lay down, heel, and stay. He’s had successful outings in public settings like Lowe’s, making him a wonderful companion for calm, routine adventures. He takes Trazodone to help manage his separation anxiety and does well when left alone in familiar environments. However, Dover is not a fit for homes with children or other pets. He has shown resource guarding behavior around food, which has led to some serious incidents, so he needs a caregiver who understands canine body language and is committed to keeping his environment safe, consistent, and stress-free. A home with experienced dog guardians—especially someone familiar with behavior management and willing to maintain his structured routine—would be just the setting where Dover can truly thrive. Despite his quirks, Dover is deeply affectionate and greets his favorite people with uncontainable joy.
