COURTESY POST---This handsome boy is NOT with our rescue, he is with his family right now and we are helping them to find a wonderful home for Cooper. You can look at his pictures and see that Cooper is a very much loved family member. He has had a wonderful life with his people, and his other dog pal. And he really is an awesome guy, full of life and exuberance. But, that occasional over the top personality is a little too much for a family that just welcomed a newborn. So, no judgement there, they are just trying to make the best decisions for their baby as well as Cooper. Cooper is a 5 year old Pitbull mix. The family had initially adopted him a few years ago from a rescue, he had been left tied to a tree at some point in his life and was also heartworm positive. He has been treated for the heartworms and he is a healthy, robust and fully vetted boy. Cooper has lived with his other dog buddy and does well. Occasionally they play a little too rough(of course!) when they get a bit excited. He also lives with a cat that he wants to play with, however, the cat is not that interested in playing with Cooper, lol. Cooper's family says that he can be a little bit of an energy overload at times, he gets so exited meeting new people and dogs, gets excited about being outside and will jump on people and even has a big waggy tail that can hurt a little bit on the receiving end, lol. He is on some calming meds at this point, but perhaps could wean off of them in a small child free and also an active home to burn off some of that energy. Cooper's family has been working with a trainer and he is doing well. HE knows, sit, lay, shake and is doing well with place training on a mat, as well as a slip lead for a calming control device. When Cooper is not enjoying all the excitement of his life he is also a very laid back guy. If you are relaxing, well, he is right there with you. Cooper is a professional snuggler and loves to be by your side, keeping your feet warm in bed, or cozied up for some Netflix! Cooper will most likely do better in a rural situation where he does not have as many distractions such as other dogs, people cars and such to get him overly excited. Cooper is an extra special guy that deserves all the best. His family is hoping to find an active, loving home, older kids would be best. KC is a sweet, social dog who walks well on leash, appears housetrained, and has done well making new dog friends at our shelter! She's attentive to her human friends and already knows a few cues! Come meet the lovely KC today! ‌ KC is the MVP of snuggles and squeaky toys, and your ticket to having a star player on your home team! Named after the heart of the Midwest, KC is a 60-pound, 5-year-old sweetheart with all the charm and manners you’d expect from a Kansas City legend. She came to the APA as an owner surrender when her family faced financial hardships, but she’s been showing her foster mom what an all-star companion she truly is for the past two months⭐️ KC is potty trained, crate trained, and knows several cues—she’s basically the Patrick Mahomes of good house manners! With her low-to-medium energy, she’s happy to chill on the couch with her humans, but she’s always game for a long walk or a chest scritching session. Her favorite plays? Curling into an adorably tiny fur ball for naps, parading her squeaky stuffies, and soaking up all the love from her favorite people. While she enjoyed playgroups at the shelter, KC’s foster home is pet-free, and she’s been thriving in her solo-star role. She gets a little anxious on the leash, so a home with a fenced yard or a family that can take her on quieter walks would be a winning setup. She might pull a bit when starting her walk but soon settles into a nice rhythm—just like a perfectly timed touchdown run! KC is sweet, affectionate, and ready to find her forever family.
