Story
To help us make a great fit for you, and any of our dogs as well, please include information about yourself(Home, family, yard/fence, work hours, other pets...) and/or use our application at sparrowdogs.com. COURTESY POST---This handsome boy is NOT with our rescue, he is with his family right now and we are helping them to find a wonderful home for Cooper. You can look at his pictures and see that Cooper is a very much loved family member. He has had a wonderful life with his people, and his other dog pal. And he really is an awesome guy, full of life and exuberance. But, that occasional over the top personality is a little too much for a family that just welcomed a newborn. So, no judgement there, they are just trying to make the best decisions for their baby as well as Cooper. Cooper is a 5 year old Pitbull mix. The family had initially adopted him a few years ago from a rescue, he had been left tied to a tree at some point in his life and was also heartworm positive. He has been treated for the heartworms and he is a healthy, robust and fully vetted boy. Cooper has lived with his other dog buddy and does well. Occasionally they play a little too rough(of course!) when they get a bit excited. He also lives with a cat that he wants to play with, however, the cat is not that interested in playing with Cooper, lol. Cooper's family says that he can be a little bit of an energy overload at times, he gets so exited meeting new people and dogs, gets excited about being outside and will jump on people and even has a big waggy tail that can hurt a little bit on the receiving end, lol. He is on some calming meds at this point, but perhaps could wean off of them in a small child free and also an active home to burn off some of that energy. Cooper's family has been working with a trainer and he is doing well. HE knows, sit, lay, shake and is doing well with place training on a mat, as well as a slip lead for a calming control device. When Cooper is not enjoying all the excitement of his life he is also a very laid back guy. If you are relaxing, well, he is right there with you. Cooper is a professional snuggler and loves to be by your side, keeping your feet warm in bed, or cozied up for some Netflix! Cooper will most likely do better in a rural situation where he does not have as many distractions such as other dogs, people cars and such to get him overly excited. Cooper is an extra special guy that deserves all the best. His family is hoping to find an active, loving home, older kids would be best. He lives with another male dog now, but really does well with older female dogs. If you have an awesome home for an awesome dog, please email Kristine at joysparrows@gmail.com.

Story
Butters is a 1 year old Pitty Lab mix. He is potty trained, crate trained, and has completed two training classes. He knows how to sit and lay down. We’ve been working on other things such as settle, stay, and counter surfing. He is a very cuddly boy who loves to play fetch, go on car rides, and chew his bones. Butters needs a family who can give him all the love and attention he needs. Unfortunately I am a full time student and he deserves someone who can be with him as much as they can. He is a very sweet boy but as hard as it is to admit, he deserves a better home than I can give him at this stage in my life.

Story
Meet Scrappy! Scrappy is an 8 year old male American Bully who has lost his home due to no fault of his own. He is now looking for a forever family to bring him home and spoil him! Scrappy is a sweet boy, who has bursts of energy but is overall content to lounge around the house with his family. He has lived with cats, children, and female dogs without issue. Per his last owners, he is not a fan of male dogs. Scrappy is housetrained and trustworthy in the home based on what we were told by his last owner. He has been a very good boy since arriving here and would like to leave the shelter soon. Scrappy's adoption fee is $150 and he has been recently neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and is heartworm negative. Please stop by the shelter to visit, or call or email with questions: 630-553-9256 or animalcontrol@Kendallcountyil.gov

If you want to add a little unconditional love to your life...I am right here!! I’m an active, fun loving and sweet 3 year old little girl. I am in search of my forever family and home that will love me and make endless memories with me. I am the missing piece to completing your wonderful family. Investing your love into me will be so worth it!! I am good with older children and other dogs. I was rescued from an overcrowded rural shelter. Please add a lotta unconditional love, sloppy kisses, tail wags and endless happiness to your family and contact jbrescuerangers@yahoo.com for an adoption application and bring me home. I will come with the works (Spayed, up to date on everything, micro chipped, fecal, heart worm tested if age appropriate, heartworm, flea and tick prevented, a free vet visit and medical insurance). What more could a new family ask for? Love and Kisses, Mater

Story
Who doesn't love a Big Mac? 🍔🍟 Reportedly found outside of a McDonalds, this big beefcake promptly received the name Big Mac -- and it fits so well. Big Mac is an older adult (maybe 6 years old?) Pit/Bully mix who was a stray and never reclaimed by an owner. He is a very sweet, but sensitive boy who took a lot of time to adjust to life in the shelter. After getting comfortable here, he has begun to thrive and enjoys toys, dress up, and snuggles from staff. As he started off very stressed and fearful here, we haven't proceeded with official dog and cat testing, but so far based on behavior here he would likely be fine with dogs, but we think he would do best in a home without kitties. Big Mac is housetrained, and keeps his kennel nice and clean here. He also rides well in the car. Due to his sensitive nature, we think he would do best in an adult only home. His adoption fee is $150, he will be neutered prior to leaving the shelter, is vaccinated, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Big Mac is looking for adopters OR rescue placement. Please stop by to meet Big Mac during our normal open business hours, or call or email 630-553-9256 or animalcontrol@kendallcountyil.gov with any questions.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi! My name is Sparkles and that definitely reflects my personality!  I'm a super sweet 1.5yr old female that loves everyone and everything.  I am a white terrier mix that has gorgeous blues eyes if I don't say so myself.  And don't worry about being too noisy...I'm deaf!  I don't let that slow me down at all, I am doing great learning signs for commands and I have great manners (although I might need some help with reminders in a new home with a new routine).  I learn quickly though and get along with everyone.  I really love playing with other dogs and I don't mind cats at all (my foster home has a really cool one and we are becoming friends).  I am fixed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped...I did test positive for heartworms but have completed treatment, however there is some continued care I will need to ensure that things are all cleared that will have to be continued in my forever home (continued heartworm preventative and 6 month retesting). My adoption fee is $350 To adopt Sparkles, fill out an application at www.kakf.org/formsVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 20, 2026, 11:26 pm
