Story
Meet Indigo, a sweet, slightly shy senior pittie who enjoys naps, calm companionship, and being close to her people. She`s an easygoing, affectionate dog who would do best in a quiet, low-key home. Indigo has a few manageable medical needs and will need a future knee surgery, but she`s otherwise a gentle, content companion. She could live with a respectful dog who understands her shy tendencies, would do best in a cat-free home, and is looking for humans who can practice calm, considerate interactions. If you`re searching for a relaxed, loving dog who`s happy to take life at a slower pace, Indigo may be the perfect fit.

Story
Millie is a smushy young pittie mix looking for her new home! This sweet kiddo likes to hit the trails to explore and sniff around, and loves to wrap it all up with some snacks and couch time with her people. Millie can be a bit reserved at first when making new friends, but warms up quickly and is looking for a patient family who can give an adopted dog some time to decompress in the new home. Millie has been through a few transitions recently, and may need a gentle start, but once she feels secure, she’ll reward you with endless love and loyalty!

Story
Isla (formerly known as "Snow") is a 3 y.o., female, gorgeous Albino deaf Pitbull Terrier looking for a forever home. She's very energetic, loves people and the outdoors. She loves toys, chasing leaves, shadows and anything that moves, cuddling, treats, and belly rubs. Isla needs a patient owner that understands her need to be the only pet in the home with no small children. While she is not aggressive toward humans, if scared, she will hide in her crate and can be reactive if someone tries to reach inside of the crate to force her out. Because she is deaf, she can become overstimulated and need to use her crate as her safe space and will go there on her own when needed. Isla is crate trained and will happily sleep either in bed with her humans (warning - she is a bed hog and she wants her head on your pillow!) or in her crate (covered by a blanket). Isla is trained to respond to the vibration on her e-collar to "come" and is working on the "stay" command using hand signals. She knows how to sit and lay and the "no" command (again, hand signs). She is not a destructive dog and will not chew on furniture, etc. While she loves to play with other dogs, she does resource guard and does not pick up on social cues, which frustrates other animals and makes them anxious, and has resulted in physical aggression from other dogs toward Isla and vice versa that is significant and creates an unsafe environment for her and other animals. She is fully potty trained. She has not yet mastered walking nicely on a leash, though she has had a few lessons with a trainer, she does tend to pull due to her high energy nature and visual distractibility. Isla is a love - if you enjoy a funny, playful pup that loves to snuggle and are looking to devote all of your love to one pet - she will be that dog that is by your side 24/7! Thank you for choosing rescue. PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT US BY EMAIL OR PHONE TO TELL US YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ISLA. We are all volunteers and we cannot move forward without your application. If you would like to be considered to adopt her go to our website and fill out an application. www.sunnypawsrescue.org. Be sure you receive a confirmation email after submission and someone will be in touch promptly.

Story
Roscoe is a sweet and cuddly boy looking for his forever home. He is a social butterfly and will want to hang out with all dogs he meets. When he arrives to a new home, he will need a few hours to decompress but after that, he will quickly show his outgoing personality. In his videos, you can see that he likes to play with other pups in a balanced well and he respects other dogs' boundaries. He especially loves to hang out with females but. Inside the house, he tends to act calm and likes to sleep with his foster parents whenever he is allowed to. Just like every furry child, he is scared of thunder but will feel safe if he is accompanied by his dog friends and his humans. We don't know how he behaves with kittens but he can be cat-tested if requested. Roscoe is crate, potty and leash-trained. Rescue story: Roscoe was found roaming around in an isolated area on the outskirts of East Houston. His foster mom spotted him and opened the door of her car for him. Roscoe was quick to jump inside and this is how he finally became a house dog again. On his first veterinary visit, the doctor identified a hip fracture, possibly caused by a car. After going over his x-rays, the veterinarian said that the fracture didn't need repair surgery since it was "self-healing." After a couple of months in foster, he started walking better (when he arrived, his hip was a little wobbly) and now, he walks and runs without any issues.  This dog is up to date on vaccinations and is neutered. (Please note: Puppies under 3 months old may not be sterilized prior to adoption. If this is the case, your adoption coordinator will provide guidance on the process). To adopt or learn more about this dog, you must complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website: www.sandypawsrescue.com. Story
Jugo is a happy, social, medium-sized pup who’s ready for an active home that enjoys a fun, engaged dog. He’s fully potty trained, crate trained, and does great settling when crated for sleep or short errands. Jugo is still in the puppy phase and benefits from structure, supervision, and continued training, but he’s a fast learner and eager to please. Jugo does excellent with other dogs and currently lives with a calm adult dog he plays and wrestles with daily. He enjoys canine companionship and would love a dog friend to run, wrestle, and lounge with. When playtime is over, he’s perfectly content snoozing on the couch. He’s been wonderful with older kids and teens and thrives in homes with dog-savvy children who understand excitement and boundaries. Jugo is enthusiastic and affectionate, and like many young dogs, he’s still learning to manage that excitement. Because of this, he’s best suited for homes with older children or adults. Energy-wise, Jugo is nicely balanced. He enjoys active bursts like fetch, wrestling, hiking, or training sessions, followed by solid downtime. He’d do well in an active household or with a family that can provide daily exercise and engagement. He’s also good in the car and enjoys going places with his people. Jugo is friendly, confident, and people-oriented. He follows his humans from room to room, loves attention, and is happiest when included in daily life. He’s affectionate, playful, and brings a lot of joy into the home.     This dog is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed or neutered. Story
Meet Sherley!   Sherley is a sweet, lovable girl with a heart full of affection. She adores hugs, scratches, and kisses, soaking up all the love you have to give. Sherley is great with people and thrives in calm, structured households where she doesn’t feel the need to assert dominance or compete for attention. With proper introductions, she can do well with other dogs and is currently kenneled with her friendly pal, Donna.   This beautiful girl has been waiting patiently in boarding for her forever family. She loves sunbathing, savoring the warmth of a sunny day, and is content to lounge around and enjoy the simple pleasures of life. Sherley isn’t food- or toy-motivated, but she values human engagement, making her a wonderful companion for someone seeking a loving, relaxed pet.   While Sherley is still learning appropriate behavior, she is not inherently aggressive—she simply needs guidance and structure to understand what’s expected of her. With the right training and environment, she will thrive as a loyal and affectionate companion.   If you’re an experienced dog owner or have a calm, quiet household, Sherley could be the perfect addition to your family. She’s ready to trade her boarding kennel for a cozy spot on your couch—and maybe some TV time together!   Interested in adopting Sherley?
