Story
Meet Puffin! He is 8 months old and is ready for his new home! He can be worried in new situations and is looking for someone to give him time and space to feel cozy/comfortable but once he’s opened up, he gets excited easily and loves to play! While he and his adopters get to know each other, his bubble should be kept small and predictable. Additionally, his adopters should be prepared for all things puppy: housetraining, puppy-proofing, and working on fine-tuning his manners using a gentle approach. Any kids in the home should be old enough to give him space while he’s settling in, and to participate in training once he’s more comfortable in the home. Interested in adopting a dog? Stop by our open hours to speak with our staff!

Story
Meet Rex - the big love bug with a heart as large as his size! Hey there, world! My name is Rex, and I'm estimated to reach around 100 pounds when I'm all grown up. But don't let my size intimidate you - I'm just a gentle giant who adores attention and affection from my humans. As a young pup, I've had the pleasure of living with both dogs and children between the ages of 2 to 15 years old. So, I'm quite the social butterfly and love being around both furry and human friends! Now, here's the scoop on my vocal side - I do like to express myself through barking, howling, or a bit of crying when the mood strikes me. But hey, who doesn't love a good chat, right?I'm currently in the process of crate training because, well, when I'm left alone and have nothing better to do, I might get a little mischievous and find a pillow or blanket to destroy. But with some patience and consistency, I'm sure I'll get the hang of it!Despite my size, I do have a soft spot - loud noises tend to startle me, so a calm and soothing environment would be ideal for me to thrive in.If you're ready to embark on this journey of love, laughter, and training with me, then let's make some pawsitive memories together!Come meet me at the shelter, and let's see if we're destined to be lifelong pals.

Story
Armani came to TJO as a stray and was excited to make friends with everyone from the moment she came in the door. She has a lot of energy, and likes to sprawl pittie style on cold floors after she gets some good exercise. Armani is looking for someone who will help her be the best dog she can be.OTHER PETS: Armani is very excited to meet other dogs, she pulls toward them but [Likely (Must Meet First)] OWNER EXPERIENCE: Having experience with strong dogs will be useful in ensuring [Some Experience]KIDS: Armani would likely do well with small humans; she has an aversion to being hugged so her best fit would be with small humans old enough to understand and respect her boundaries. [10+ (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Armani will need to be engaged mentally and physically: multiple walks a day, supervised time in a fenced yard, training to compete in dog sports like fly ball or weight pulling, all are different ways to ensure Armani's needs are met. [Good Walking Buddy / Olympic Athlete]VETERINARY CARE: [Routine] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Armani bond with her new owner as well as ensuring she knows her basic commands, how to walk on a leash appropriately, and what her behavorial expectations are. Further training will open up doors for more adventurous activities like hiking/camping/dog sports. [Moderate]GROOMING: [Minimal]April 26, 2024, 3:40 pm

Story
Meet Zeus! A perpetual, fast-moving wiggle butt, watch his enthusiam adorably take over when he says `hello`! He`s a high energy guy and he`s got the muscles to prove it, but in addition to exercise, he will also need some help learning how to settle - he may not be the `Netflix and chill` type at home to begin with. Zeus has previously lived with a cat, but due to his size and strength introductions should be slow. If you think this dog could be a good match for your home and would like to learn more, stop by our Boston Adoption Center. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm-3pm – no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available dogs. Preparing your home for your new dog or puppy ahead of time can help ease the transition for your new pet and set you both up for success should there be a dog that’s a good match! To learn more about how to make the first few weeks with your new dog or puppy the most successful it can be, please visit www.mspca.org/petresources. For more information on our adoption process, please visit https://www.mspca.org/adoption-centers/how-to-adopt/ Please note, in an effort to keep the stress levels reduced for the dogs in our care, our dog kennel areas will not be open to walk through. Interested adopters will work with a matchmaker on staff to determine which dog(s) they’re interested in - and if we can identify a match, potential adopters will be able to meet those dogs outside of the kennel. Cat and small animal areas will remain open to walk through.

Story
Hello, my name is Thor. I am the sweetest boy you will ever meet and am quickly becoming a staff and volunteer favorite! Now, don't let my age fool you, I am an extremely active older guy. I would much rather be outside doing activities then lounging around on the couch all day. I would love to be someone's hiking or walking buddy. But once my exercise needs are met, I am totally okay with snuggling on the couch and soaking up all the love. I am a big boy and can be a bit strong on leash, so will need someone that can handle me. I am fully housetrained and would love nothing more than to have a little girl/boy to call my own. I LOVE kids! I can be a bit of a bull in a china shop and not know my own size at times, so it will have to be a kid that is sturdy on their feet. I am pending a dog and cat test. Please check back later for more information.Weight: 72If you think I could be the perfect new family member for you, please call the kennel staff at (413) 447-7878 ext.126 to learn more about me and how to meet me and hopefully take me home!
