Story
Kobe is a two year old pit mix. He loves going for walks, playing with toys, going on car rides. He does have energy and needs structured exercise, but he can't go forever so if you're looking for a dog who can climb mountains with you, it's not Kobe. He’s very friendly with the people he knows and trusts, but that list is short, and he is weary of strangers. He needs slow introductions to new people in order to warm up to them. Kobe will need an adopter that understands his need to take things slow, both with new people and new environments. Kobe is dog selective. He is not a dog who you should be taking to the dog park or anywhere where there is loose, unstructured play with random dogs, but he will definitely do well living with another dog or having dog friends that he is introduced too properly that is of a good temperament. He does not like dogs who are super in his face. He also does okay with cats, as long as the interactions are monitored. Kobe is well trained, knows basic commands, walks well on leash, travels well in the car and has pretty good manners around the house. He loves his crate as well. His ideal home is a home with one or two adults only and possibly another well balanced dog. Kobe is a follower and he will pick up another dogs bad habits, as well as bounce energy off of them. For this reason, he should live with a dog who is secure and even keeled, not anxious or a dog with behavioral issues. Whoever adopts him should be comfortable handling him and advocating for his space when necessary. He needs someones lead to follow. Because of his low confidence and general distrust of the world, he can make poor decisions when left to is own devices. That's where structure, rules and guidance will come into play to help him navigate the world around him! He will have lifelong training support, but needs someone who is open to our guidance and can follow our instruction. PLEASE DO NOT INQUIRE ABOUT KOBE IF: -ANYONE under 18 lives in your home -You have roommates -You are against crates -You are not open to balanced training If you're interested in Kobe, email us at caredogvolunteers@gmail.com. *PLEASE NOTE: All dogs are in foster care all over MA. They are NOT at the cat shelter, which is the address listed on Petfinder. There are ONLY cats there. We do not set up meet and greets with dogs until after you've been approved to adopt. Please do not email asking us if you can come by and meet a dog the same day.*

Story
This is Violet. This goofy goblin wants to remind everyone that she’s still looking for a home! She’s only 3 and ready to be your BFF for the next 10+ years! She’s hilarious! She loves to play! She loves car rides! Walks! Hikes (as long as it’s not raining!) Zoomies! Her person/people! Blankets! Dog beds! Big fan of West Paw brand toys! (It’s her preference, I don’t ask questions.) House trained! Loves her crate! Walks well on leash and is not leash reactive! Listens to commands! Comes when called! She doesn’t love most other dogs but *could* live with the right one (probably a mellow, adult, male.) She doesn’t want to live with kids, not yours or anyone else’s. Not a big fan of strangers, meaning she probably won’t like your sister/grandma/husbands 3rd cousin/obnoxious drunk uncle, etc. Would prefer to skip out on thanksgiving dinner festivities and just come out for some pie after everyone has left (same.) Doesn’t want to go to your fiancées parents house for a cookout. Really doesn’t care about your friends dog park coffee and gossip meet ups. Now, if you need a dog to go on a coffee/beer pick up run with you, she’s down and ready to ignore everyone, just don’t expect her to make friends with Nancy or her chihuahua in the line next to you. She’s a live and let live (in our respective corners) kinda gal. PLEASE DO NOT INQUIRE ABOUT VIOLET IF: -ANYONE under 18 lives in your home -You have multiple other dogs -You have cats -You have roommates -You are against crates -You are not open to balanced training *PLEASE NOTE: All dogs are in foster care all over MA. They are NOT at the cat shelter, which is the address listed on Petfinder. There are ONLY cats there. We do not set up meet and greets with dogs until after you've been approved to adopt. Story
VISITORS LIMITED TO THOSE WHO HAVE SUBMITTED APPLICATIONS: https://lighthouseanimalshelter.org/dog-adoption-application/ -- 4 year old, 50 lb. female Pitbull Mix Dogs: With a slow introduction, Zoe loves other pups and will do zoomies in the yard out of excitement. Her ideal home probably wouldn't take her to a dog park but she'd still like to spend time with dogs that she meets properly and is familiar with. Cats: Zoe can live with cats who are tolerant of a playful pup. Zoe is a smart, beautiful, sweet girl. When we first got her at Lighthouse, she was insecure meeting new people. The more that we’ve gotten to know her, she’s come out of her shell with regular volunteers and has shown us how loving and silly she can be. When she sees someone that she loves, her little nub tail doesn’t stop wagging and all she wants to do is for you to say hi to her and welcome her into your lap for snuggles. Once you have her trust, there is no turning back! She is loyal and will always greet you with a smile on her face. Zoe is house trained and crate trained. Zoe has been to professional training so she knows basic commands and also knows some fun ones like how to give a high five. Zoe's forever home should be understanding about her insecurity with new people and will want to continue with her obedience training so that when she does get scared, she will listen to you and know that she can trust you. -- We do not adopt on a first-come-first-serve basis, but rather by the best match between dog and family, although we will factor in the order of applications if there are equally good matches. Our adoption fee for adult dogs is $450 which covers the costs of vetting (spay, vaccinations, heartworm testing, preventatives while in our care, deworming and microchip) and any boarding or transport fees incurred in each dog's rescue. Senior dogs are $250.

Visitors are limited to those with approved applications. Adopt: lighthouseanimalshelter.org/adopt Foster: lighthouseanimalshelter.org/foster Thank you! Introducing Ariel - the perfect balance of "outdoorsy" and "Netflix and chill." This pup is all about chasing after toys and exploring new places on walks, but also loves winding down with her humans for some cuddle time. She may be a little shy around new people, but once you earn her trust, she's a velcro dog through and through. And let's not forget those gentle kisses - swoon! She's a smarty-pants too, always eager to please for a treat. Her previous foster family says she's already house trained, so no need to worry about any accidents. She is also crate-trained. All in all, Ariel is looking for a loving family who can give her the patience she needs to feel right at home. Apply now, and get ready for some serious snuggle sessions. Other Dogs: Ariel used to live with another dog before her owner passed away. The two of them ended up at a high-intake shelter in the south and Lighthouse pulled them both. Her brother found his forever home, and now Ariel is patiently waiting for hers! Ariel can sometimes be reactive toward other dogs when on-leash. Her reactivity stems from overexcitement and wanting to play right away with another dog. Cats: Unknown - she can be tested for applicants

Story
Visitors are limited to those with approved applications. Adopt: lighthouseanimalshelter.org/adopt Foster: lighthouseanimalshelter.org/foster Thank you! Cole is looking for his next new best pal! He’s spunky and fun and loves to play fetch. Even though he is a higher-energy boy outdoors, he settles so nicely in his room. He'll occupy himself with a toy or cuddle up in his bed and wait patiently for his turn to go outside. He'd make a great companion for someone who is looking for a copilot for all of their adventures but wants a snuggle buddy at night. Cole is an affectionate boy who has no shame in showing off his belly for a good belly rub! Cole loves every human that he meets but shouldn't live with small children as he can be jumpy when he's really excited to see his people. Cole has his own room so he is left loose throughout the day without having any accidents. We crate him overnight and he does great in a crate as well. He is quiet all day unless he can hear that his favorite dog walker is at the shelter! Other Dogs: When Cole first arrived, he wasn't thrilled about other dogs and we have previously posted him as an only dog. However recently, thanks to the incredible wizardry of Tyler (Cole's favorite dog walker), he is learning social skills. He has been on a few walks now with Tyler's dog (adopted from Lighthouse!) and the two of them get along really well. We're not sure if Cole could live with another dog right now, but now we know that Cole has the potential to make more dog friends Cats: Unknown - we can test him for applicants

Story
Duke is an energetic and loving dog.Duke was picked up by a Good Samaritan in her neighborhood on the side of the road.He is looking for a great forever home! He would prefer a home with a privacy fence and he has been known to try to escape. He needs a doggie playmate as he loves to play and is full of energy. He does need someone with patience because he can be stubborn. Duke still has puppy like behavior, likes to chew.He does not have any aggression. He protects his yard, likes to intimidate strangers, but as soon as they get out of car, he just wants lovings. He does hunt small rodent type animals like rabbits, squirrels, chickens, so would not be good on a farm. Keeps the wild hogs out of foster moms yard. He even alerted foster mom to snake under Wheelchair ramp. All dogs in home are fed dry kibble and fed separately and he does well with that routine.Duke gets the zoomies a lot- it is very cute! He loves water….any creek, lake, anything like that but hates a bath in the tub. Likes to talk, rarely barks. Loves belly rubs. Thinks he’s a lap dog. He is not fed people food, does not beg for food, but is food motivated. He’s very smart and has been taught to “sit” and “down”. Working on recall, because he has poor recall when he sees a squirrel, possum, or anything rodent like. Kids at scout-arama loved petting Duke and Duke loved the attention. When out in public, people are impressed with how well behaved he is and how well he minds. Loves men and women equally!Duke is a great dog with a few rough edges. With proper training he will be an all star!Check out his videos!https://youtube.com/shorts/asaBAwsujy8?feature=sharehttps://youtube.com/shorts/kr7fXY-rNQg?feature=sharehttps://youtube.com/shorts/drPRZjV71ts?feature=sharehttps://youtube.com/shorts/tKm2MNMcNpA?feature=sharehttps://youtube.com/shorts/YtYM0KVPzjg?feature=shareName: Duke DieboldBreed: Pit Bull Terrier mixSex: MaleAge: 1 year old  (estimated)Weight: 63 poundsSpayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS: Good with Children: YesGood with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: NoAdoption Fee: $500.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)Location of dog currently:  Texarkana Tx IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.  Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. Story
Sammy has a long story to tell - too long if you ask us!Several years ago hee arrived at a shelter in Memphis, Tennessee as a stray. He had wounds all over his body, evidence of a tough past remain as scars on his legs, face, and ears. From there he went to an adoptive home who adored him but Sammy decided the newborn in the house was not his cup of tea - the family knew it was best to find him a home where he'd be more comfortable - he lived with a cat in his first home too and did great.Fast forward, we have had nothing but disappointment trying to find him a new home. He can meet dogs out and about but he's not loving them if they are in his face so an only dog home is what he needs. His foster has put together this fabulous checklist to help you fall in love with this senior handsome boy.Energy level: He is a couch potato that occasionally gets a burst of energy and has the zoomies. And when he sees his favorite humans he is so happy, wiggly and full of excitement. What we love: His snuggles and unconditional love. What he loves: Duck jerky. Be prepared, he is so loud when chewing them..no table manners. Peanut butter, cuddles, belly rubs, cuddles, leisurely walks, and relaxing on the porch.Independence level: Medium. His favorite place is going to be right by your side. Think of him as your shadow. What he knows: Sit, down, stay, here and pawWhat he’s working on: That every little knock doesn't mean someone is here. Dogs: No, but I still like other dogs. I sometimes misunderstand play for an attack and immediately defend myself because of my past. It doesn't mean that I want to attack other dogs. I only react if there’s strong physical contact by the other dog. Cats: Could make a solid sibling to a calm, well-adjusted kitty. May need to work with Sammy and your cat to make sure they’re comfortable with each otherKids: 11+, chill dog-savvy kids.House-trained: Yes, but he thinks he will melt if he has to go out in the rain. Crate-trained: Yes, will go in on his own terms and enjoys sleeping in it. If you want him to go in, that's another story. You will have to pick up the big lug and put him in it. When he is in there he is quiet and will sleep.Ideal home: A chill laid back home.Special Needs: Has hypothyroidism. He will need 2 pills a day, he takes them like a pro when hidden in peanut butter. Not an expensive medication at all.A couple of videos of me for you to view:https://youtube.com/shorts/2DLyw_tUAWU?feature=sharehttps://youtube.com/shorts/DixMpPuZ_WU?feature=shareName: SammyNicknames: Sam, Lazy BonesBreed: Pitbull mixSex: MaleAge: 6 year estimated Weight: 65 lbsSpayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative (treated previously)Microchipped: YesLocation: New EnglandAdoption Fee: $250.00MPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England. Story
Gigi was found as a stray, a good Samaritan took her in temporarily and reached out to one of our Southern rescue partners, who in turn asked PAWS New England to help find Gigi her perfect new home.Gigi needs a home with an active lifestyle. Gigi is very sweet, playful, and very energetic, she needs a home that will take her on walks or play in the yard to get some of her energy out. Her best friend is her chicken plush toy that she loves to carry around. She plays hard and then takes a much needed rest.Gigi would benefit from a home that has experience with her breed, she has recently done some training and she is very smart and learns quickly. She would needs a person who will continue her training so she can be the best girl she can be. Gigi is crated when left alone, and will whine at first but settles quickly. She is house trained, and is very scheduled with when she goes out, that really helps with training. She loves riding in a car, she loves to put her nose out the window! No car sickness for this girl.Gigi seems to not been socialized in her past and her foster mom is doing slow introductions to the other dogs in her home. When she meets a new dog she seems to be standoffish, she does not like to be nose to nose with another dog. Part of the training she has recently completed has worked on socialization and she is doing very well. She will need a person who will continue training with her. If you are looking for a perfect dog to be an only dog in the home, Gigi is your girl.Check out her videos!!—Training Session: https://youtu.be/sb8ayl6lOpo—Walk w/ Dog: https://youtube.com/shorts/rqDTHdqC6ic?feature=share —Afternoon Stroll: https://youtube.com/shorts/RueuF4xJIEo?feature=share—Tug ‘O War: https://youtu.be/uiiBQsV-HZk—Getting a bum rub: https://youtube.com/shorts/HTaYITD7aAU?si=cAlWF-Da1can2Q25Name: GigiBreed: Pit Bull Terrier/CrossbreedSex: FemaleAge: 2 years 10 months  (estimated)Weight: 44 lbsSpayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS: Good with Children: Over 12Good with Dogs: she is good with them but she prefers not to live with themGood with Cats: NoAdoption Fee: $500.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)Location of dog currently:  Memphis  TN  IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.
