Story
Kobe is a two year old pit mix. He loves going for walks, playing with toys, going on car rides. He does have energy and needs structured exercise, but he can't go forever so if you're looking for a dog who can climb mountains with you, it's not Kobe. He’s very friendly with the people he knows and trusts, but that list is short, and he is weary of strangers. He needs slow introductions to new people in order to warm up to them. Kobe will need an adopter that understands his need to take things slow, both with new people and new environments. Kobe is dog selective. He is not a dog who you should be taking to the dog park or anywhere where there is loose, unstructured play with random dogs, but he will definitely do well living with another dog or having dog friends that he is introduced too properly that is of a good temperament. He does not like dogs who are super in his face. He also does okay with cats, as long as the interactions are monitored. Kobe is well trained, knows basic commands, walks well on leash, travels well in the car and has pretty good manners around the house. He loves his crate as well. His ideal home is a home with one or two adults only and possibly another well balanced dog. Kobe is a follower and he will pick up another dogs bad habits, as well as bounce energy off of them. For this reason, he should live with a dog who is secure and even keeled, not anxious or a dog with behavioral issues. Whoever adopts him should be comfortable handling him and advocating for his space when necessary. He needs someones lead to follow. Because of his low confidence and general distrust of the world, he can make poor decisions when left to is own devices. That's where structure, rules and guidance will come into play to help him navigate the world around him! He will have lifelong training support, but needs someone who is open to our guidance and can follow our instruction. PLEASE DO NOT INQUIRE ABOUT KOBE IF: -ANYONE under 18 lives in your home -You have roommates -You are against crates -You are not open to balanced training If you're interested in Kobe, email us at caredogvolunteers@gmail.com. *PLEASE NOTE: All dogs are in foster care all over MA. They are NOT at the cat shelter, which is the address listed on Petfinder. There are ONLY cats there. We do not set up meet and greets with dogs until after you've been approved to adopt. Please do not email asking us if you can come by and meet a dog the same day.*

Story
VISITORS LIMITED TO THOSE WHO HAVE SUBMITTED APPLICATIONS: https://lighthouseanimalshelter.org/dog-adoption-application/ -- 4 year old, 50 lb. female Pitbull Mix Dogs: With a slow introduction, Zoe loves other pups and will do zoomies in the yard out of excitement. Her ideal home probably wouldn't take her to a dog park but she'd still like to spend time with dogs that she meets properly and is familiar with. Cats: Zoe can live with cats who are tolerant of a playful pup. Zoe is a smart, beautiful, sweet girl. When we first got her at Lighthouse, she was insecure meeting new people. The more that we’ve gotten to know her, she’s come out of her shell with regular volunteers and has shown us how loving and silly she can be. When she sees someone that she loves, her little nub tail doesn’t stop wagging and all she wants to do is for you to say hi to her and welcome her into your lap for snuggles. Once you have her trust, there is no turning back! She is loyal and will always greet you with a smile on her face. Zoe is house trained and crate trained. Zoe has been to professional training so she knows basic commands and also knows some fun ones like how to give a high five. Zoe's forever home should be understanding about her insecurity with new people and will want to continue with her obedience training so that when she does get scared, she will listen to you and know that she can trust you. -- We do not adopt on a first-come-first-serve basis, but rather by the best match between dog and family, although we will factor in the order of applications if there are equally good matches. Our adoption fee for adult dogs is $450 which covers the costs of vetting (spay, vaccinations, heartworm testing, preventatives while in our care, deworming and microchip) and any boarding or transport fees incurred in each dog's rescue. Senior dogs are $250.

Visitors are limited to those with approved applications. Adopt: lighthouseanimalshelter.org/adopt Foster: lighthouseanimalshelter.org/foster Thank you! Introducing Ariel - the perfect balance of "outdoorsy" and "Netflix and chill." This pup is all about chasing after toys and exploring new places on walks, but also loves winding down with her humans for some cuddle time. She may be a little shy around new people, but once you earn her trust, she's a velcro dog through and through. And let's not forget those gentle kisses - swoon! She's a smarty-pants too, always eager to please for a treat. Her previous foster family says she's already house trained, so no need to worry about any accidents. She is also crate-trained. All in all, Ariel is looking for a loving family who can give her the patience she needs to feel right at home. Apply now, and get ready for some serious snuggle sessions. Other Dogs: Ariel used to live with another dog before her owner passed away. The two of them ended up at a high-intake shelter in the south and Lighthouse pulled them both. Her brother found his forever home, and now Ariel is patiently waiting for hers! Ariel can sometimes be reactive toward other dogs when on-leash. Her reactivity stems from overexcitement and wanting to play right away with another dog. Cats: Unknown - she can be tested for applicants

Visitors are limited to those with approved applications. Adopt: lighthouseanimalshelter.org/adopt Foster: lighthouseanimalshelter.org/foster Thank you! Cole is looking for his next new best pal! He’s spunky and fun and loves to play fetch. Even though he is a higher-energy boy outdoors, he settles so nicely in his room. He'll occupy himself with a toy or cuddle up in his bed and wait patiently for his turn to go outside. He'd make a great companion for someone who is looking for a copilot for all of their adventures but wants a snuggle buddy at night. Cole is an affectionate boy who has no shame in showing off his belly for a good belly rub! Cole loves every human that he meets but shouldn't live with small children as he can be jumpy when he's really excited to see his people. Cole has his own room so he is left loose throughout the day without having any accidents. We crate him overnight and he does great in a crate as well. He is quiet all day unless he can hear that his favorite dog walker is at the shelter! Other Dogs: When Cole first arrived, he wasn't thrilled about other dogs and we have previously posted him as an only dog. However recently, thanks to the incredible wizardry of Tyler (Cole's favorite dog walker), he is learning social skills. He has been on a few walks now with Tyler's dog (adopted from Lighthouse!) and the two of them get along really well. We're not sure if Cole could live with another dog right now, but now we know that Cole has the potential to make more dog friends Cats: Unknown - we can test him for applicants

Story
Ladybird is a 6 year old pittie mix who has been steadily gaining weight since she entered the shelter. Coming in at 36 lbs, we've already gotten her up to 44 lbs after about a week of being here. We've got her on a special diet to ensure she's consistently gaining weight until she's met the breed standard. Ladybird is a shining example of the incredible perseverence dogs have and how they can adapt to situations even better than us sometimes! We're unsure of her background and how she came to be as emaciated as she was, but she doesn't let it bother her in the slightest. She's sweet, sociable, and has no problem meeting strangers. A good butt rub will have her eyes lighting up and her silly button turned on! She's not all party, though, this girl also has a side that's all business! She knows he commands like none other, hitting sit, down, stay, and come like a professional. She's eager to please and really just wants someone to call her own.Per typical bully breed rules, you must own your own home, children must be over twelve, no cats, and any other dogs in the home must be the opposite sex. She's proven to do well with other dogs so far and is respectful about their boundaries! She'll come spayed, microchipped, with her Rabies and distemper vaccines, a heartworm test, and her heartworm preventitive/flea meds for the month. If you're interested, fill out an application on ForeverPaws.com under our adopt tab before coming in. If you already have an approved application, call and set up an appointment to meet Ladybird today!

Story
This brindle bully is Bella. She is one of a few dogs that has resided with one of our southern trainers for quite some time. Despite having some issues that make her a bit less adoptable, this pup still deserves a home where she is loved and her needs can be met. And having a trainer as a foster mom is a huge plus!!!Bella is very sweet, but also can be a bit sassy and bossy. Despite that, she has been been tugging at her fosters heart strings for a very long time. She would have definitely been a foster fail if she was not living in an environment with new dogs coming and going almost everyday.Bella is the perfect 50 pound lap dog. She does not understand the concept of personal space and will try to get in your lap at all costs, especially if you are her level.Even though, she has played well with carefully selected dogs, she will not roll over if that dog is overbearing or tries to correct her, Therefore, being an only dog would be ideal. She is not the girl who can go to a doggie daycare either so she would require a home that will exercise her and a fenced yard where she could run would be a bonus. At her age, she'd probably prefer being the only diva in the house. She's done fine with people and older children, so long as they're willing to give her some butt scratches. No cats or young kids.Bella is very obedient, very affectionate and routine oriented. She also crates fine. She does have a habit of jumping up and nose-butting your chin if she thinks her petting session is done (I want more loving please!). She has learned not to do that with foster mom, but will test the waters with new people.Name: BellaBreed: Pit Bull Terrier/CrossbreedSex: FemaleAge: 7 years 7 months  (estimated as of 1/15/24)Weight: 50.0Spayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: Over 12Good with Dogs: NoGood with Cats: NoAdoption Fee: $250.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)Location of dog currently:  Memphis  TN IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.  Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. Story
This handsome senior is Roscoe. He is one of a few dogs that has resided with one of our southern trainers, Desiree, for quite some time. Despite having some issues that make him a bit less adoptable, this guy still deserve a home where he is loved and his needs can be met. And having a trainer as a foster mom is a huge plus!!!Roscoe is truly very special to her. He was found weighing 38 lbs (about half of what he should have weighed) and needed assistance walking due to his body condition. He also had heavy heartworm, but has shown zero complications after treatment. After months and months of TLC, he is now a confident, outgoing, loving, playful (you wouldn't know he was a senior) boy. He's great with all people, but would get under foot with children. In all his years he has yet to realize he should bounce less around the small two legged. As big and goofy as he is, he's actually pretty sensitive, god forbid he stubs his toe!) When you reach down to pet him, he'll tuck himself into this tiny little ball like you're trying to attack him-but that's just how he prefers to be scratched. Typical PBM zoomies included at no extra charge- yep all 4 left feet of em!!!He likes to play ball and tug, great in the car, fine in the crate, would need supervision early on in a new environment to prevent marking. He's not been destructive with toys, but will chew out of boredom. However, he takes very well to correction (NO!) and understands quickly.Roscoe is just fine as an only dog, as long as you give him lots of love and some exercise. He will be yourabsolute best friend.Name: RoscoeBreed: Pit Bull Terrier/ American Bulldog Mix (he's taller than he looks in pictures)Sex: MaleAge: 8 years 6 months  (estimated)Weight: 60.0Spayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: Over 12Good with Dogs: NoGood with Cats: NoAdoption Fee: $250.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)Location of dog currently:  Memphis  TNIMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England. Have you been looking for love in all the wrong places…then you need Douglas! This dog is ready to dedicate his life to you. Douglas is the best of both worlds, puppy energy and enthusiasm but house-broken and crate-trained.He would love his own person or people to be with all the time. But don’t worry when you need to leave him alone, he is good in his crate and will entertain himself with chew toys. He is very treat motivated so training is fun. Doug is graduating from Good Pup soon and would love to continue his training with them. (His foster will gift you some continued training to guarantee his success!) Douglas would be best as an only dog. He has not been cat tested, but he may find them too much fun. And he is too energetic for young children but dog-savvy older children who will help with training would be fine. And if you are wondering why his foster will not keep him, they would love to…..but they have three other dogs and Douglas truly deserves his own people to dote on him.Don’t miss this special boy, he will give you his heart! Rhett, just a good ole' boy seeking a new life in New England!Rhett found himself in need of a new home when his original owner could no longer care for him. At just two years old, Rhett is still young but has outgrown his puppy craziness. He's crate trained and making strides with housetraining, showing promising progress. With a medium energy level, Rhett enjoys winding down after play sessions and simply chilling out.Rhett isn't the type to be in your face; he's a bit timid around new people but is generally very friendly and submissive. He thrives on playing with his foster siblings, especially enjoying the role of big brother to puppies. While he would appreciate having a dog friend to hang out with, it's not a requirement for him. He's a calm companion in the car, content to ride along without any fuss.Rhett is ready to embark on his next adventure in a loving forever home. Could yours be the one he's been waiting for? This handsome tripod boy is Cash. Cash is an owner surrender due to no fault of his own. His owner has to move and heartbreaking for both Cash and his mom, he couldn’t go with her.Cash is a loving boy who enjoys spending time on the couch cuddled up right next to you. And truth be told, he did frequently sleep at night in the human bed next to his person. He is a loving pup who enjoys his four legged friends! He also has a great head start on his basic obedience training. This boy is crate and housetrained and has done exceptionally well being bathed! His perfect home would be with a family that is caring, patient, and gentle. He is sometimes scared around loud noises and unfamiliar situations.Even though he is great with kids, we are going to say over 12 since smaller children may be too active and overwhelming for him. His household children need to be able to respect and understand him.Cash is not super familiar with cats, so we are going to say no kitties for this boy.As stated, Cash is a tripod, but that does not limit his activity level at all. He underwent a hind leg amputation in 2022 due to an injury. Please consider this boy if you have the love, time and patience to give him a loving home where he will NEVER EVER have to worry again.Name: Cash TwoBreed: Pit Bull Terrier/CrossbreedSex: MaleAge: DOB 5/7/22  (estimated)Weight: 47.0Spayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesMEDICAL: Hind leg amputation 8/2022BASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: OlderGood with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: NoAdoption Fee: $300.00 (includes transport fee when applicable)Location of dog currently:  New EnglandIMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.
