Onni is a big, happy boy with a heart as big as his smile. He’s smart and very trainable, but he’ll need time, patience, and someone committed to giving him the structure and guidance he needs. Because Onni is a pit bull, we’re looking for an adopter who understands and appreciates the breed’s unique traits. He must have a securely fenced yard to safely play and burn off his energy. While Onni has done well with his current animals and child—thanks to growing up with them—we believe he’d thrive best as the only pet in his new home. Onni is a champion cuddler (even if he doesn’t realize how big he is!) and is wonderful in his kennel. Treats are his favorite, and they make training even more fun for him. Doug is in the house!This big, handsome boy is Doug. He came to PCHS when he was found as a stray and no one claim to claim him. While we do not know a lot about his back ground, we do know that he is super friendly, loves people, and has an exceptional enthusiasm for life! Doug is estimated to be a pitty/lab mix and roughly 2 years old. He does know some very basic commands such as sit, he will need some practice with his leash manners. He is a very strong boy and using a harness to walk him would be recommended. Doug is a smart boy and would likely learn more commands with some time and consistency. He would love a fenced in yard where he can run around and burn off some energy, however, we are not requiring it. Doug has not been dog or cat tested at this time. He may be too much for feline friends, but with proper introductions he may do okay with a canine companion. Meet miss Shayna!This sweet girl was found on a property where she did not belong. She was very scared, cold and hungry. A kind Samaritan reached out on her behalf and we were able to get her to us here at PCHS.Shayna spent several weeks getting some much needed TLC. She enjoys cuddling up on cozy beds, spending time with people, and having a tasty treat! Shayna is a large girl and is nearing 70 pounds. She is estimated to be a mixed breed girl and is thought to be around 3 years old. She would thrive in a home that has time to show her structure, consistency and unwavering love. Meet Marge!This sweet girl was brought to PCHS as a stray who was found locally on the NW side of Rochester. Unfortunately, no one came looking for her so she is now on the hunt for a new forever home!Marge is estimated to be between 3 and 4 years old and weighs around 55 pounds. She seems like she has had pups in her past, but those days are over for her now! She is ready to be in her own home where she cane be a spoiled pup! Marge has not been formally dog tested at this time, but it is believed that she may get along with submissive male dogs. She has not been cat tested. Marge can be strong on a leash but she really enjoys spending time with people and getting attention. She would thrive in a home where her people can show her structure and shower her with love and care. Marge is ready for her second chance, could that be with you? ***This dog is housed at the Rochester Animal Control facility. In order to meet her, you need to submit an adoption application first. Applications can be found on the homepage of the Paws and Claws website. Once you submit an application, a PCHS staff member will contact you with next steps to meet her.***Meet Kiera! This sweet girl was surrendered to Rochester Animal Control when her owners could no longer care for her. She is a middle aged girl and weighs just under 70 pounds. Kiera was unsure and nervous when she first arrived at animal control, but she is starting to learn how nice the officers are and she is picking up her new routine. Kiera walks well on a leash and would be perfect for a family who wants a more mature dog that does not have a ton of puppy energy, but is up for going on leisurely walks around the neighborhood. Kiera has lived with other dogs and has done well with that. She is hoping her stay at animal control can be short! Could she be the perfect match for you? This big boy is Charlie!Charlie came to us when he was found as a stray around the Cannon Falls area. His finders held onto him for over a month and had no luck finding his owners. Since they could not keep him long term, Charlie then made his way to us so he could find a forever home!Charlie is a large, strong boy. He is easily over 70 pounds and is mostly muscle! He appears to be a mid aged (3-4 years), pitty type mix dog. His finders were able to give us some insight into how he lives in a home since they had him for a month. Some of the biggest things they said were...He is fully potty trained, crate trained, knows various commands (sit, off, wait), and enjoys relaxing in the home. The finders also worked on some commands like heel and come. Charlie can be a little nervous around new people. He occasionally alarm barks at them in fear. Once he realizes that they are not going to hurt him, he becomes very affectionate and treat motivated. Charlie has not been formally dog tested, but with the right dog, it is believed he may enjoy having a canine companion. He has some experience with outdoor cats and has done well, but has not lived in the home with cats, to our knowledge. Given his size and strength, he may be too much for young children.
