Doug is in the house!This big, handsome boy is Doug. He came to PCHS when he was found as a stray and no one claim to claim him. While we do not know a lot about his back ground, we do know that he is super friendly, loves people, and has an exceptional enthusiasm for life! Doug is estimated to be a pitty/lab mix and roughly 2 years old. He does know some very basic commands such as sit, he will need some practice with his leash manners. He is a very strong boy and using a harness to walk him would be recommended. Doug is a smart boy and would likely learn more commands with some time and consistency. He would love a fenced in yard where he can run around and burn off some energy, however, we are not requiring it. Doug has not been dog or cat tested at this time. He may be too much for feline friends, but with proper introductions he may do okay with a canine companion. This happy boy is Titan!Titan is a terrier mix breed that is estimated to be around 1 to 2 years old. He is on the medium side and only weighs about 50 pounds. Titan was an owner surrender to a neighboring impound and when there was no more room at the impound, he made his way to us. Titan is a ball of energy and would make a great running or hiking partner! He also is very food motivated and knows some basic commands like sit and wait. He does let his excitement for food get the better of him sometimes as he stole a hotdog off one of our counters! But look at that face! Who can stay mad at that?Titan would love a home that can show him structure, love and stability. He absolutely loves people and attention. We have been told that he is good with other dogs as well as cats, but we have not done our own test to verify that. Check out this beautiful girl!This is Karen, and she is definetly not afraid to ask for the manager! All jokes aside, this girl is truly sweet as can be! Karen came to PCHS from a neighboring impound and when that impound became too full, she made her way here. Karen was found as a stray and had a microchip. Unfortunately, that was a dead end and no one ever came to claim her. Karen is as sweet as can be and loves attention from people. She is a gentle soul who is longing to be in a stable forever home. She is around 4 years old and is terrier type mix. She is under 60 pounds so she is not super big either. Karen does not seem to be a big fan of cats or smaller dogs, but she may do well with a submissive canine friend that is her size or bigger. Karen has a big heart and so much love to give. She appears to have had several litters of puppies in her day, but other than that, he past is very unknown. What we do know is that she is ready to be spoiled in her real forever home. Birdie has a pretty gentle disposition and walks fairly well on leash. She is estimated to be around 5 years old and is around 54 pounds. She would love a home that has plenty of soft places for her to curl up on and where she can receive some long over due attention. She seems like she has had pups in her past, but those days are over for her now! She is ready to be in her own home where she cane be a spoiled pup! Marge has not been formally dog tested at this time, but it is believed that she may get along with submissive male dogs. She has not been cat tested. Applications can be found on the homepage of the Paws and Claws website. Once you submit an application, a PCHS staff member will contact you with next steps to meet her.***Meet Kiera! This sweet girl was surrendered to Rochester Animal Control when her owners could no longer care for her. She is a middle aged girl and weighs just under 70 pounds. Kiera was unsure and nervous when she first arrived at animal control, but she is starting to learn how nice the officers are and she is picking up her new routine. Kiera walks well on a leash and would be perfect for a family who wants a more mature dog that does not have a ton of puppy energy, but is up for going on leisurely walks around the neighborhood. Kiera has lived with other dogs and has done well with that. She is hoping her stay at animal control can be short! Could she be the perfect match for you?
