Story
Hello! I'm Marjorie, a 1 year old, bouncy terrier mix. Me and my sister (Millicent) were transferred to Paws and Claws Humane Society from the Owatonna Police Department. We were picked up as a stray's there and never claimed. While I do play well with my sister, we are not bonded and can be adopted separately. I love my toys, playing with my sister, and of course getting all the pets from my people! I cannot contain my excitement and it makes me jump all over the place! However, I am told most people like a doggo to remain with all four feet on the ground, so my new family will need to help me learn this technique. My ideal family will take me on adventures and give me plenty of time to play and run as I burn off my puppy energy! I seem to do well with other dogs. I have not been cat tested. If I sound like I could be the one for you, apply today! My adoption fee is $300 + $30 microchip fee + tax

Taylor and Travis are currently housed at Rochester Animal ControlMeet the power couple, Taylor and Travis! These two were found running on their own, and taken in to our local Rochester Animal Control. While looking for their family, it was found out that they've been bounced around a bit, and are in need of a new home. Taylor was in pretty rough shape when they arrived, so she received some medical attention right away, and ultimately had to have surgery to repair a very large hernia and to resolve a pyometra. She also had horribly infected ears and her skin was in tough shape too. Now, after some amazing care from some local vets and PCHS, and the TLC she's gotten from the ACO's at the Animal Control Shelter, she and Travis are finally ready to find their FOREVER home! Travis completely relies on Taylor, and would be lost without her. We understand that adding 2 large dogs into your home is not something that everyone can do, but we know their forever family is out there! If you are interested in having Taylor and Travis as a part of you family, please apply online! *Taylor is around 55 pounds, Taylor will need regular ear cleanings to help prevent future ear infections. She may need medication to help control allergies as needed as well. *Travis is around 70 pounds **NO CATSApplications for adoption can be found on the homepage of the website. Once you have submitted your application a PCHS staff will contact you regarding an appointment to meet the animals you are interested in.*Adoption fee: $400 (for the pair)+ $30 microchip fee (each) + tax

Story
I'm Peter, a black and white mixed breed boy! I came to PCHS when I needed a soft place to land and to help me find something called a "furever home". I'm not sure what that means but the staff promise me I will find it soon! I hope they are right as I have so much love to give. I love being around people, although I must admit I do need some work with the concept of "4 on the floor". But I can't help it as I just want to express my excitement and can't contain myself! I have loved making doggy friends here at the shelter and love to wrestle with some of my kennel neighbors. I have been introduced to a lot of different people as well and have done well with all of them. It is currently not known if I do well with cats. If I sound like I could be a great addition for you, ask for Peter today!***Peter can get a little protective of his toys with other dogs around. However, he seems to have no problems when people take toys from him. He will need a little "tuning up" in the sharing department with his canine friends***Adoption fee $350 + $30 microchip fee + tax

Joe is currently housed at Rochester Animal Control. This handsome fella is Joe, and he is in need of a forever home! He's a sweet boy who was found out on his own, and taken in to the Rochester Animal Control. He's been patiently waiting for his family to claim him, but unfortunately it does not appear that will be happening. His impound time has passed, and now he's looking to the future! He's seen the vet and gotten his vaccines and a check up, and now he's ready to start looking for his forever family. The vet believes he's around 5 years of age, so he's past the wild puppy stages, but still has plenty of energy for fun adventures with his family! If you think Joe is the one for you, apply online! Joe does well with other mellow dogs who react nicely to meeting him, but he does not like reactive dogs. He should do well in a home on his own, or with a social dog. He should meet any potential doggie siblings prior to adoption. Applications for adoption can be found on the homepage of the website. Once you have submitted your application a PCHS staff will contact you regarding an appointment to meet the animals you are interested in.*Adoption fee: $150 + $30 microchip fee + tax

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Rowen came to us on 4/23/2022 from our friends at the Rescue Network after he was rescued from a reservation in South Dakota. He's now a long term resident who's been overlooked, which is a shame. Having been with us for so long, one of our volunteers was curious about his breed mix and decided to find out with a dog DNA test. He's a pit bull mix with about a quarter of German shepherd and his appearance does hint at these results. He's a big boy who's aged out of puppyhood, but is still a lot of fun and likes to play hard. Rowen loves people and would be a great walking/running companion. Rowen is fully vetted and his $125 adoption fee is sponsored. Rowen is doing really well with basic training but does forget his manners sometimes. He needs someone who is willing and able to provide him with the exercise he needs, along with consistent training and boundaries. He is strong and active. He's a happy and outgoing dog with a slight mischievous streak that is kinda endearing. Cats? Most likely a no for him. He's looking for an adult only home. Teens are fine. He will require regular exercise to keep him happy and well balanced. Watch a TikTok video featuring Rowen below! https://www.tiktok.com/@happy.critter.ranch/video/7204912518278565163 NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Rudy, aka Rootin'Tootin'Rudy and the Rudinator, came to the shelter as an owner surrender on 11/6/2022. The woman had originally found him as a stray in a rural area. She was going to keep him as no owner was located. She decided that Rudy was just too energetic and strong for her to handle. He does have a slight impairment when it comes to his eyesight, perhaps due to an injury he sustained at one time or maybe a genetic thing. He has been vet checked and neutered and his fee is $125. Nothing slows Rudy down. He's a happy and rambunctious dude who literally bounces through life. He will need a lot of basic training and exercise. He keeps his kennel clean at the shelter. An adult only home would be best for Rudy (teens are okay). He is looking for a home with no other animals. A fenced yard would rock Rudy's world! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Alma is a pit bull type dog in the age range of 5 years who has had quite the history with us. In 2020, at around a year old, we first received her from the city pound after she was held there and never claimed by an owner. She was with us for over a year and was adopted in January 2022. Her owner's situation changed drastically in 2023, so Alma was returned in July 2023 after 18 months in her home. It was hard for both of them, as Alma (known in her home as "Pretty"), was very loved by her owner.  Alma did very well in her home. It was a fairly quiet environment with just Alma and the lady who adopted her. Alma did tend to be pretty protective of her person as it was just the two of them. We do think she would do best in a similar environment. She does seem to respond best to women. She's looking for an adult only home (teens are okay). No other animals. Alma is strong and active and will require regular exercise. Many of our volunteers have a soft spot for her and would like to see her get back into a home for good. She has been fully vetted and her fee is $125. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Story arrived as an owner surrender on 10/4/2023, when she was still under a year old. Before she came to us, she'd already been through several homes that didn't give her stability or everything she needed. We named her Story because she already had quite the story to her life for such a young dog. She is shy, but our volunteers have been working with her. She's a petite pit bull type mix, maybe with lab and other breeds. Her fee is $150 and she has been vet checked, spayed, and chipped. Story does need basic training. She hasn't had a lot of work on leash walking but is slowly getting the idea. She's looking for a somewhat calm home in which she won't be left alone for long hours. She needs someone who is ready, willing, and able to work with her on proper socialization and confidence. She is doing really well with other dogs and is gaining confidence. We're thrilled with her progress! Cats? We're not sure. Kids over 10 would be best. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Ingrid is a friendly and stocky pit bull type gal with a beautiful brindle coat. She arrived on 10/23/2023 as she was found "stray", if not abandoned, at a local park. She was never claimed by an owner after fulfilling the legal hold time with us. She is 2+ years old and not too large, at around the 50 pound mark. She has been vet checked and spayed and her fee is $125. Ingrid enjoys the company of people. She would do best in an experienced adult only home (teens should be fine). We do feel that she would prefer to be the only pet in the home. She is pretty well mannered but might need a bit of basic training. She's a princess! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Todd is a large, happy, and beefy pit bull type mix who came to us on 12/3/2023. He was found stray in a rural area, held for the legal hold time, and no one claimed him. He is likely around 2 years old and we are guessing he could be mixed with mastiff and/or bulldog. He has been vet checked and neutered and his fee is $150. Todd is strong and has shown a little bit of dog reactivity at the shelter. This is not unusual as it's a pretty rowdy environment. He has calmed down a bit since his initial arrival. We do think he would do best as the only pet in the home. He could potentially do okay with a nice female dog. He loves people but does need a strong owner who can handle his strength and keep up with his energy level. He does appear to have had some basic training. No small kids for this bulldozer. This is due to his size and strength, not his personality!
