Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Rocky came to the shelter from the city pound when his time was up and no one had claimed him. We do know a little about his history and know that he's around a year old and Rocky is his real name. He's a little shy at first but warms up quickly and is loving and playful. He has been vet checked, neutered, and microchipped and his fee is $150.  Rocky is a young dog who has had a little basic training. He needs a home that can provide him with the exercise he requires. He did live with kids in his previous home. We do think he could do okay with a female dog with proper intros. We have no way of knowing about cats. He really is a honey! NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 5, 2025, 9:28 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sasha is a 2-3 year old pit bull type gal who came to us as an owner surrender due to rental issues. She is compact and muscular, and almost panther like. Sasha is a nice girl who has had some basic training. She has been vet checked and spayed and her fee is $150. Sasha will require regular exercise as she is young, strong, and energetic. We do think she would do okay with a well-mannered MALE dog. She also lived with cats and kids. She enjoys attention and walks. She would prefer a home in which she is not left alone for long hours. She's a gorgeous princess!  NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Rowen came to us on 4/23/2022 from our friends at the Rescue Network after he was rescued from a reservation in South Dakota. He has always been a volunteer favorite! He was adopted in May, 2025 and returned recently. Unfortunately, he bonded very quickly and closely to the woman of the home and became very protective of her. She invested a lot of time and money in professional training but Rowen just would not accept her husband or other visitors coming into the home. It was a very difficult decision, but she had no choice but to return him to us. Rowen's adoption fee of $125 is sponsored. We're not giving up on Rowen as we do believe that his perfect fit is out there, somewhere. He has had basic training and enjoys a good, brisk walk and playing fetch. He's looking for an adult only home without a lot of foot traffic. He needs someone who is willing and able to provide him with the exercise he needs, along with consistent training and boundaries. He is strong and active. He's a happy and outgoing dog with a slight mischievous streak that is kinda endearing. He needs to be the only pet in the home. He will require regular exercise to keep him happy and well balanced. Secure fenced yard required. Watch a TikTok video featuring Rowen below! https://www.tiktok.com/@happy.critter.ranch/video/7204912518278565163 NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Teddy came to us as an owner surrender due to rental restrictions. He's an approximately 5 to 6 month old pit bull/lab mix puppy. He currently weighs around 25 pounds. Teddy does look like he'll be a pretty large dog at maturity. He has been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped and his adoption fee is $150. Teddy will require basic training in all areas as he is a puppy. He'd do best in a home in which he's not left alone for long hours. He's a fun loving pup with a lot of eagerness to please. He loves to play! We do think he'd do okay with another dog and is young enough to learn to interact well with cats. Kids over 5 would be best. He's a smart pup with a lot of potential! NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. She has been spayed, microchipped, and fully vetted, and her fee is $150. Greer is pretty well mannered but could use some basic training. She is very strong. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Scooby came to us from the city pound when his legal stray hold was finished and no one had claimed him. He is a pit bull/husky mix who is around a year and a half old. He's what we call a "repeat offender", as his owner allowed him to run loose in town frequently, disregarding the local leash law. Scooby is a nice boy, a little on the shy side. He has been vet checked, neutered, and microchipped, and his fee is $150. Scooby seems like a pretty well-mannered guy who needs a bit of basic training. He will run if given the opportunity so a secure, fenced yard is definitely needed. It's not his fault as it's what he was allowed to do. He's young and active, too, so he'll require some good, consistent exercise. He does appear to be okay with other dogs and kids. We don't know about cats. He really has the potential to be a fun and loving companion! NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Quest was surrendered to the shelter on 5/9/2025 due to rental restrictions. He is 4 years old and was a very loved dog who had lived in his home his whole life. His owners were forced to relocate and couldn't find an affordable place that would accept dogs like him. Quest is a mix of boxer, Doberman, and pit bull, and he is big and strong. He has been fully vetted and microchipped and his fee is $150. Quest did live with his canine sibling in his home and was fine. They grew up together. We do think that he'd prefer to be the only dog in a home right now. No smaller animals for this moose. He's looking for an adult only home. Teens are fine.
