Story
Meet Gunner!
If you're looking for a dog who lives life at full speed, loves everyone he meets, and is always ready for the next adventure, Gunner is your guy!
Gunner is a happy-go-lucky puppy with a larger-than-life personality. He's affectionate, goofy, outgoing, and absolutely convinced that every person and every dog he meets is a potential new best friend. His enthusiasm for life is contagious, and wherever he goes, fun is sure to follow.
His foster describes him perfectly:
"Very energetic, very loving, and a personality that is so outgoing."
Gunner is still very much a puppy, which means he's curious about everything, eager to learn, and always looking for something exciting to do. He's incredibly people-oriented and thrives on attention, affection, and being included in family activities.
Gunner's Story
Gunner's journey began in Oklahoma, where he and his littermates were surrendered to a rescue before making their way to Wisconsin in search of loving homes.
While we don't know much about his life before rescue, one thing is certain: Gunner is making up for lost time by living every day to the fullest. He approaches the world with confidence, curiosity, and a heart full of love.
Gunner's Favorite Activities
Running and playing outside
Walks and neighborhood adventures
Car rides
Fetch
Tug-of-war
Playing with other dogs
Playing with toys
Chewing on bones and enrichment chews
Sniffing and exploring new places
Meeting new people
Outdoor patios and social outings
Sunbathing
Zooming around the yard
Cuddling after a busy day
Napping when he's finally worn himself out
Gunner absolutely loves other dogs and would likely thrive in a home with an active canine playmate who enjoys rough-and-tumble puppy games.
What Gunner Is Working On
Like any growing puppy, Gunner is still learning the rules of being a well-mannered family member.
His foster family is currently helping him work on:
Leash manners
Keeping all four paws on the floor when excited
Greeting people politely
Crate training
Building confidence when alone
Avoiding counter surfing
Learning that not every person or dog needs to be greeted
Gunner can be a little stubborn at times, but he is also smart, food motivated, and eager to learn. Consistent training and structure will help him continue to grow into an amazing adult dog.
Because he is still a puppy, he occasionally shows some crate anxiety and separation anxiety tendencies. His foster family is working hard to create positive experiences and help him learn that being alone is safe.
Gunner's Ideal Home
Gunner would thrive in:
An active family
A home that enjoys outdoor adventures
A family committed to ongoing training
A home with another playful dog
A family that can provide plenty of exercise and enrichment
He loves children but can get excited during play and may accidentally knock over smaller kids. Families with young children should be prepared for normal puppy exuberance.
Gunner currently plays a little too rough with cats and would likely do best in a home with dog-savvy cats or no cats at all.
Gunner is altered.
Why You'll Love Gunner
Gunner is the kind of dog who makes every day more fun. He greets life with excitement, loves with his whole heart, and never misses an opportunity to make people smile.
Whether he's racing around the yard, cuddling on the couch after a busy day, or enthusiastically introducing himself to everyone he meets, Gunner brings joy wherever he goes.
He's energetic, loving, playful, and full of potential. All he needs now is a family willing to guide him through puppyhood and give him the love he's been waiting for.
If you're ready for adventures, laughter, and a best friend who will adore you endlessly, Gunner is ready to meet you.
