Story
Are you looking for an easy-going adult dog to hang out with? Stella has been back in rescue for more than 800 days waiting for her forever home. And that is a long time in dog years! In early 2020 Stella was returned to our rescue (through no fault of her own) when her family could no longer care for her. She has been doing great in her Binghamton, NY area foster home, but she is ready to find her forever home. Her foster mom says: "Stella is a bit shy and can take a while to warm up to new people. However, she is super smart, and sweet, and extremely loyal to her people once she knows them. She knows all of her basic commands, is crate trained, and loves walks and being outside, her favorite thing is to lay on the deck and watch the deer on the lawn as they walk by." Stella is having knee surgery this month but then we hope and pray someone will be ready to adopt this quirky but devoted girl. Stella recently had TPLO surgery and she is as active and silly as ever. We think Stella would thrive where she can be someone's only canine. However, Stella has proved to be good with her foster family's cats. Stella is an easy-going homebody who would be happy just going for walks, and hanging out with her people on the couch. Stella needs her own special person in order to be her best self. Please consider giving this sweet girl a second chance. Story
Mollie is a 2-year-old pup who was taken in by a partner rescue in TN, along with her 11 puppies. The puppies have all been adopted but Mollie still is waiting for her forever family. Mollie would be happy as the solo 4-legged kid or maybe ok with a friendly easy-going male dog who will let her be the boss She's very friendly with people of all ages and walks well on a leash unless she sees a cat or squirrel (strong prey drive). Molly is crate-trained and house-trained, knows "sit" and "stay", and absolutely LOVES playing with toys. She also loves laying in the sun and cuddling up to watch a movie,  Mollie was heartworm positive as are many southern pups, but she completed treatment and now she is spayed and ready to find her forever home. Mollie is currently waiting in a Burlington, VT-area foster home. All of our animals are examined by a veterinarian, given age-appropriate vaccinations, de-wormed, microchipped, spayed or neutered, heart-worm tested, and treated if necessary.  Vet references and a home/family visit are required, and an adoption fee applies.  Transport options are available within our area of operation, including Pennsylvania, the tri-state area, and New England. Story
Once a PMAR pup, always a PMAR pup.  We pulled Chyna from the Brooklyn municipal shelter 9 years ago. She was adopted and lived happily until her family apparently lost their home and she was brought to a local shelter. Thankfully, the shelter alerted us (microchips work!) that they had her, and we acted quickly to pull her from the shelter — again. Chyna is easygoing and low-maintenance, loves to hang out with her people and amuses herself with her favorite toys. Chyna prefers to be the only pet in the household but other than that she is pure perfection. Please consider giving Chyna a forever home. FOSTER OR FOREVER NEEDED! Layla was adopted 4 years ago, but has gradually come to dislike one of the other doggos in her home, so her family thinks it best she finds a new home. Layla does OK with other dogs in the house, and a relative's cat. She is also great with kids. She can be leash-reactive to other dogs on the street, so a fenced yard or a country setting would be best for this girl. She is crate trained and house trained and good when left in the house. Please help this girl find her new home. has recently All of our animals are examined by a veterinarian, given age-appropriate vaccinations, de-wormed, microchipped, spayed or neutered, heart-worm tested, and treated if necessary.  Vet references and a home/family visit are required, and an adoption fee applies.  Transport options are available within our area of operation, including Pennsylvania, the tri-state area, and New England. Lilo was adopted as a puppy, but unfortunately, she does not like the cats who live in her home, so she is back in the rescue. Lilo is just about a year old, slim, and compact. She plays well with dogs her size or bigger and gets along great with kids and people of all ages. She really is sweet. She is housebroken, crate trained, and good in the car. Lilo needs a forever home, with no kitties or small dogs.    Our animals are examined by a veterinarian, given age-appropriate vaccinations, de-wormed, microchipped, spayed or neutered, heart-worm tested, and treated if necessary. Story
Ginx is a sweet and gentle girl who came up from a southern shelter. We aren't exactly sure how old Ginx is (3 to 4 years), but we do know Ginx has had multiple litters of puppies and not the best care. Because, like many southern dogs, Ginx was heartworm positive. However, Ginx is currently being treated for heartworms and is getting excellent care in her upstate NY foster home. Because of heartworm treatment, Ginx has been on crate rest and hasn't met or interacted with her foster siblings yet. Her foster mom does report that she is completely non-reactive when she sees other animals - cats and dogs. Ginx isn't quite ready to go home yet, but soon she will be. Story
Tiffany is a very sweet, loving 3 year old pitty. She is a tiny girl at 34 pounds. She is VERY energetic and loves to run and play. She doesn’t care for car rides. She gets very nervous. She loves going for walks but needs a collar and harness or she slips out. She loves people, especially her human. She absolutely CANNOT be around cats or other dogs. She does not like them and will go after them. She has the be the only pet. Tiffany is house trained if she can go outside whenever she wants to (I have a fence) she sleeps on the bed with me and is a typical bed hog! She loves to be pet but doesn’t care for hugs or being picked up. Baths are a complete nightmare! If you’re looking for a loyal, protective, big baby, Tiffany may be your pup!

Story
Hey there! My name is Squeaks, I’m a two-year-old Pit mix. I was brought to the shelter as a stray by dog control. I’m a very sweet girl who has a ton of energy! As a birthday present for their son who loves dogs, a nice family sponsored my adoption fee! All you need is an approved application and to let me love you forever. I need a home with people who have a lot of time to play and get my energy out. I am dog selective and prefer not to be around cats. I would do best in a home with kids older than 12 because of my energy. I love to be outside, going on walks, playing fetch, or just running around being goofy! Stop down to Stray Haven to see me! I look forward to meeting you!Stray Haven Humane Society & SPCA194 Shepard Rd., Waverly, NY 14892(607) 565-2859, www.strayhavenspca.org Open hours:Tuesday-Friday 10am-5pmSaturday-Sunday 10am-4pmClosed on Mondays

Story
Hello there, my name is Atticus, and I'm a handsome and loyal 3-year-old pit bull. Sadly, my previous owner had some medical issues and couldn't take care of me anymore, so I came to Stray Haven in search of a new family to love.I'm a sweet and affectionate pup who loves to be with my human friends. I was raised by my dad and bottle-fed, so I'm still adjusting to life in the kennel. I bond best with a small number of people and would do better in a calm and quiet home without a lot of new people coming in and out. While I might be a little nervous around new people, I warm up quickly with some patience and love. I just need a special someone who understands my quirks and will give me the time and space to settle in. Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of other dogs or cats, so I'm looking for a home where I can be the only pet and get all the love and attention. If you're looking for a loyal and devoted companion who will be by your side through thick and thin, then I'm the perfect match for you. Just talk to the staff at Stray Haven, and they can answer any questions you may have and help you get to know me better. So, come and meet me, Atticus, and let's start a new adventure together!Stray Haven Humane Society & SPCA194 Shepard Rd., Waverly, NY 14892(607) 565-2859, www.strayhavenspca.org Open hours:Tuesday-Friday 10am-5pmSaturday-Sunday 10am-4pmClosed on Mondays

Bobbi is also known as Roo in her foster home. Her foster mom says she is an absolute sweetheart and a gem of a pup. While still very young, she is a gentle soul and does well with animals and children alike of all ages. She is playful with other playful pups and respects dogs who don't wish to play. She can read a room well.  She LOVES stuffed toys and is gentle with them and hasn't chewed up a single one. She loves a good stick from the yard, and running zoomies around the whole thing!  She loves to cuddle and be pet and will melt right in your lap. She doesn't jump or nip, or do any of the typical puppy behaviors. A truly well-behaved pup who is happy to lounge around in the home and comes for pets when you call.
