Adoption fees may be paid by cash or check.   Other: Spayed Female, Vaccinations current, Microchip, No other pets, Fenced-in yard required   Persephone is a sweet girl looking for someone to give her the right home   Foster Home Feedback  ***  No other pets, Fenced-in yard required 9/10/25 Foster Feedback: Persephone (Percy) is slowly making progress on her reactivity. In my last update I said we were working on squirrels. Today she was able to sit and watch the squirrel without reactivity. I taught her to sit when she sees other animals she reacts to because that’s what’s we’ve found works for us, and this way I can keep control of the situation and reward her for being a good girl.  Don’t let the number of days in the rescue turn you off from wanting to meet this good girl. Send in an application to meet Percy and we will come to you and show you her progress. Or you can come to us and see Percy in her comfortable environment.   8/31/25 Temporary Care Feedback: Persephone, or as she is affectionately called, Percy is an amazing little dog. Perfect pocket sized, sweet, cuddler, ready to play games and run around but also very focused. I cannot believe she isnt adopted yet, her furever family just hasn't found her yet.  While Percy is very happy in her current foster home, an area where she can safely run amuck would be incredibly beneficial for her. She happily perches on the back of the couch to watch out the window, tidily eats roma tomatoes, and loves belly rubs. Percy does get to zooming but her burst is fairly short lived. If you are looking for a delicate dancer that can race you around the house every day before collapsing in a ball of licks, laughs, and pets, you've found your gal.    5/12/25 Foster Feedback: Persephone, aka Percy,  has been in my home for just under a year, and in that time, she’s grown into an incredible, loyal companion. She’s fully potty trained, free roams the house, and spends much of her day perched on the back of the couch, quietly watching the world go by. She still gives the occasional bark at passersby, but she’s made huge progress with that, too. While her kennel is still available, she rarely uses it, and only for very short periods when necessary. Percy enjoys her toys, chews, and bones and understands what’s hers and what’s mine. She will carry my shoes into the living room but doesn’t chew them. Percy also loves blankets. She has several of her own and will pick one up, carry it to where she wants to lay, spin around until she’s covered up, and then lay down. It’s the cutest thing.  Percy has made incredible progress on walks - we stick to a regular route, and she now ignores other fenced in dogs and will sit calmly when she spots a rabbit. Squirrels? Still working on that one! We also are able to redirect and go the other way when we see another dog walking. Since we don’t have a backyard, we go on several walks a day, plus enrichment games to keep her mentally stimulated. She occasionally gets time to run and explore in our neighbor’s fenced-in yard, which she absolutely loves. When she doesn’t get her energy out, Percy can play a bit rough, so she’d do best in a home with a fenced yard where she can safely run and sniff to her heart’s content. She’s gentle and cautious with the neighbor kids, but due to her occasional rambunctious play style, older, dog-savvy children are recommended. Percy is deeply loyal, incredibly trainable, and always by your side. She’s come such a long way and is ready for a forever home that will continue her journey with love, patience, and a little room to run. She’ll be your best little buddy.    12/9/23 Foster Feedback:  Percy is my first foster and I’ve had her since mid-October. She did such a great job on the hour long car ride home and all rides since. As others have said, she knows sit, stay, lay down, shake, high five, and roll over. We’re working on drop, touch, and I’ve also noticed after walks in the wet grass or snow that if you tell her to wipe her feet when she walks in, she will go stand on the rug and sometimes spin around a couple times. Otherwise she will sit nicely on the rug until her harness is off. Percy is the greatest roommate and will make the perfect permanent addition to someone’s family. As I’ve gotten to know Percy I think she would do best in a household where she is the only pet and has a big yard to run and play fetch. Percy has loved any human that has come to our home, and walking by the neighbor kids outside doesn’t phase her. Percy does well in a kennel. I do keep her kenneled for a few hours in the morning while I’m at work. Otherwise I leave her out and she has free rein of the house and she does just fine. Percy has slept in her kennel overnight and doesn’t make a peep. She also sleeps in my bed and I barely know she’s there. Percy enjoys her squeaky toys. We found one that she can’t seem to destroy! She likes frozen Kongs and Pupsicles, as well as a nice tug-of-war competition, and tennis ball fetch. I also got her a few enrichment feeders/toys that she’s currently learning how to use. Percy will get the zoomies for a few minutes each night but is pretty relaxed and the cuddliest pup otherwise. We’re currently working on Percy’s leash walking. I’ve seen great improvement in the last two months as Percy isn’t as reactive to other animals and doesn’t pull nearly as much. It seems she will pull until she finds a spot to potty and then relaxes, so I’ve noticed if I keep her in my yard until she goes potty the walk is more enjoyable for all. She’s well on her way to being the best leash walker. Percy is a wonderful dog, very smart, extremely cute, and will make the best addition to a lucky individual or family!    9/6/23 Foster Feedback: Percy is doing well with training! She knows sit, stay, shake, touch, down, leave it and find it. She is very eager to please her people and learn new things and loves the snacks that go along with training sessions. She is still learning off (jumping up) and leash manners. Percy still has her puppy energy but has settled in well! She enjoys having structure and goes into her crate without any issues. She sleeps in her crate all night without any fuss. She has quite the personality! She loves running laps in the backyard with a toy and gets an occasional case of the zoomies! She enjoys as many walks as she can get! Percy really is a sweet girl and deserves a loving family she can grow old with! She likes following her humans around the house and doesn’t want to miss out on anything. She will snuggle up on your lap for as long as you let her. This girl is ready to show you her personality.   7/5/23 Foster Feedback: Persephone loves people! Doesn’t want to miss out on what her humans are doing! The recent fireworks did not seem to phase her. She is highly entertained by toys and tennis balls and can typically entertain herself with them; however we do play fetch in the backyard a few times a day. Persephone likes to cuddle up beside us on the couch or in our laps. She knows her name and basic commands and is also house trained. She is crate trained and does very well in there. Goes to bed without making a noise! Percy is dog-reactive when on walks. She can be redirected with treats but will need continued training on this. A home with a fenced yard or active family for running around is recommended.    6/5/23 Foster Feedback: Persephone is a sweet and playful girl that loves to cuddle and play fetch as much as you'll allow! She would be best in a non-apartment environment, due to her still working on being a bit reactive to other dogs, and loving lots of space to move around and play. She is crate trained, potty trained, and is a turning into a great listener. Persephone would love a lively home that would give her lots of love and attention! Other:  Neutered Male, Vaccinations current, Microchip, No Cats   Riggs is super sweet and very well mannered!   Foster Home Feedback  ** No cats 4/10/2026 Foster Feedback:  What started off as a two day kennel break has turned into Riggs becoming our foster. He fit in perfectly and is such an easy keeper. He immediately won over my partner by insisting on snuggling with him during movie night, which resulted in me being asked “do we have to send him back?"  Typical, “husband and the dog be never wanted”.   Riggs is 100% potty trained and kennel trained.  He has never had an accident in the house and he immediately picked up on what door to go to when he has to go potty.  While I say he is kennel trained, we have only kenneled him twice before we realized he could just be left out at night and while we are gone and he just lays on the couch.  The two times we kenneled him, he goes right in when you say “kennel up”.   The first meal time, I fed Riggs in the kennel (to separate from my dogs) and since that first time, as soon as I’m dishing up their meals, he runs right to the kennel and waits for his meal.  He will then wait for me to tell him it’s ok to come out once he is done. Even my own dogs aren’t that well trained!  Riggs is very dog friendly! We have three dogs, all females.  We have a 14 year old pittie who is more interested in sleeping than playing, a 6 year old lab who is more interested in tennis balls than other dogs, and a 5 year old corgi/chi mix who can be have an attitude but loves to play.   Riggs has done perfectly with all three. He interacts with each to match their personality. He loves to snuggle and take naps with our pittie, he leaves our lab alone, and he plays so well with our spicy corgi mix.  Our corgi mix did snark at him a few times the first few days to show him where he sits on the totem pole, and he responded perfectly. Riggs has since won her over.  Riggs has also spent time with another large male pittie who is very playful and they were so good together! He loves to play and would love to have a buddy to play with!  In true pittie personality, Riggs LOVES to nap and cuddle.  When he decides he wants to cuddle, you are cuddling. He will crawl on top of you and try get as close as he can. He also loves to sleep under blankets. At night, he sleeps with our dogs on the couch and he loves to be wrapped up like a burrito. He also a snores. VERY loudly.  Riggs loves to go on walks and is very routine oriented.  He knows what times meals are and he also knows we go for a walk an hour after dinner, and he will go stand by the front door when he thinks it’s walk time.  He is not reactive to other people, bikes, kids, any wheeled machines.  He does get very excited when he sees another dog and will start excitedly barking and pulling on the leash, but we are working on staying calm and no pulling. He is very smart and treat motivated so he is picking up on it very quickly!  He does get fixated on rabbits as well, and will try to chase so we are also working on that.   Riggs is a big handsome guy, with a lot of love to give. He is such an easy going, adaptable guy that I think he will fit in perfectly with just about any family!   3/29/26 Temporary Care Feedback: Riggs is the kind of dog who makes everything feel easy. He rides in the car like a perfect gentleman, quietly settling in and relaxing the whole way. Once he’s with his people, his affectionate side shines through; he absolutely loves to cuddle and play, soaking up every bit of attention. During Riggs's kennel break, he handled meeting a “spicy” resident chi with impressive composure, showing very little reaction even when the other dog wasn’t on his best behavior.  He was also tested with a cat and would do best in a home without them. Riggs knows his basic commands and is very treat‑motivated, which makes working with him fun and rewarding. One of his strongest skills is “kennel”—say the word and he walks right in, settling comfortably and doing very well in his crate. He’s a smart, curious boy who enjoys puzzles and enrichment, and he thrives when his mind is kept busy. With his sweet nature, intelligence, and eagerness to connect, Riggs is ready to be someone’s loyal, loving companion.   3/11/2026 Building Volunteer Feedback:  Oh my goodness, Mr. Riggs is just the best well behaved 8-year-old gentleman!   He is still waiting for a foster to open up so I’ve been spending some extra time with him and giving him a break from the shelter.  On Sunday, we went to social hour at the Air Museum and discovered Riggs is an excellent passenger in a vehicle, is non reactive to seeing other dogs and that he knows sit, down, heel and stay!  He also walks loose-leash great, too.  Tuesday, we took a long sniff walk around both ponds south of Horizon school. Riggs posed for pics at the playground. Today, I had a massage and he got to come with to the appointment and waited quietly until I was finished. Riggs showed off all his obedience skills to my therapist. From there, we went to PetSmart to familiarize him to the sights and smells since we will be there for Saturday’s (3/14/26) adoption event from 1-2:30 pm  Come and meet Riggs!  On the way back to the shelter, he curled up and had a snooze riding shotgun. I just love this guy!To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org April 16, 2026, 10:30 pm

He is the happiest dog and would be a great addition to any home! 2/25/25 Foster Feedback:  Albertus is your typical puppy who loves to play but settles down nicely to cuddle up on the couch once that puppy energy is out. If you are looking for companionship he is your guy. He hates to be away from his people. And he loves people!!  He’s happy go lucky but also has a great protective bark if someone approaches you in the car, however that’s the extent of it because as soon as he is out of the car he’s a wiggle butt.  Mr Kading is good with cats and dogs of all sizes and seems to love to socialize and wrestle his heart out.  He’s the dog that’s excited just because you exist. He would love someone who works from home or wants a dog to do everything with. Whatever you are doing he doesn’t care… he just wants to be a part of it.  We have been working on making the kennel a positive experience and so far Mr Kading  is doing great. He is very smart and willing to please and would thrive would someone who loves taking a dog to training or group activities.  Don’t let his pictures fool you, he’s very not a huge dog, he’s the perfect size.  Mr Kading  will be so fun to train as he seems to be all puppy behavior and will make an amazing companion.    3/24/2026 Volunteer Feedback:  Mr Kading is a true gentleman with a heart full of love for his people. She helped host some visitors on the holiday, charmed the neighbors into giving her some treats, and met some new residents to the neighborhood that frequently walk through the alleyway. We also had a flock of turkeys begin to frequent the block. She has taken it upon herself to supervise them from our window, and Kitchen will come and nudge me/prance to let me know if they decide to cross the sidewalk into our yard.   8/21/2025 Foster feedback: Kitchen continues to be an absolutely lovely foster. She is a little heart stealer who loves to lay next to me as I watch TV, sunbathe in the yard while I read, and supervise the local wildlife from the comfort of her dog bed on the couch. She has run most of the house while I am at work, does great with that, and despite her dislike of other dogs up close, she does not bark or act aggressive at the window when she sees. Honestly, she'd probably be a terrible guard dog because she really only alerts me if someone is at the door or if the turkeys have actually crossed to our side of the street, and even then she just runs up to me and looks at me until I follow her to the living room. Otherwise, Kitchen  does a great job of entertaining herself with her toys while I am busy, and even has a sophisticated method of rotating them between the house and the backyard. If you have space in your life a friend that likes to be the only furry critter in your house, I encourage you to meet her. It's hard to describe what a winning personality Kitchen  has! 8/30/2024 Foster Feedback: Kitchen continues to be an absolutely lovely foster. She is a great cuddler when it is time to relax, and is great at zoomies and prancing around with toys when it is is time to play. I have definitely enjoyed her becoming more confident and allowing her sparkling personality to show. She has the run of the entire first floor of my house whenever I am gone, and does very well patiently napping on the couch or watching out the window until I return. She does great at walks with an easy-walk harness, and at this point only pulls with significant distractions (mainly deer, new dogs approaching her, or a cat or rabbit within reach). She continues to be very easy to manage in general, responds quickly to gentle redirects.  She is very smart, does great with all the usual commands, and loves chances to show off just how good she can be. Kitchen still cannot be close to other dogs, but is not aggressive unless they get very close (within about three feet), and she has learned to do a good job of accepting familiar dogs like the neighbor's dog when they come and investigate our fence. I especially appreciate that she does not act aggressive towards other dogs while we are on walks as long as they are at a distance, and also does not show aggression when she sees them through the window. My neighbors particularly adore her and are always talking about how well behaved she is and how she hardly ever barks. She gets along with people of all sorts, and easily wins over anyone who comes to visit us. If your living situation allows for a dog that can't be around other dogs, I encourage you to meet Kitchen. It's hard to convey in writing just how likeable this goofy little gal is! 2/28/24 Foster Feedback: Kitchen is an absolutely lovely dog. I would snatch her up myself if my situation allowed it. She is sooooo affectionate and just loves to cuddle up with her person on the couch, really any person. When she is not trying to lay on you or asking for pets, she prefers to show off her goofy personality by parading around the house with a squeaky toy or throwing balls down the stairs so she can chase them. She is still young so she likes to be active, and loves to run laps in the backyard and take walks around the neighborhood. She does really well on a long leash and harness, but does still pull to try and say hi to other dogs or investigate a rabbit or squirrel. She also still pulls whenever you use a collar instead of a harness.  Kitchen is also muzzle trained.  She is clever girl who has learned a number of commands - sit, lay down, hand targeting, and even to roll on her back so you can wipe mud off her feet. We are still working on stay, and also on recalls when she is outside. Inside the house, she is very easy to manage, a gentle "ope" or "uh-oh" is usually all it takes. She can be a little timid and submissive at times, so it definitely helps her if her home is calm and doesn't have a lot of commotion. She has been fantastic with every visitor I've had, and this includes people who were new to her when I was not there. She is friendly towards my neighbors and their children. Kitchen is crate trained, and while she may pout a bit about it, she will do just fine in one while you are away. She is so well behaved in my house, that I haven't had to have her in a crate while I am gone. If you're willing to give this sweetheart a loving home, she is absolutely willing to shower you in all the kisses, affection, and dog hair on your shirt that you can handle. She already has with me!To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org April 16, 2026, 10:30 pm

She’s an easygoing girl who is very impartial to other animals—when she first met her foster’s dogs and cats, she simply walked past them without much interest. She does best with laid‑back or gentle dog companions and doesn’t appreciate dominant or rough‑and‑tumble play styles. She’d enjoy a mellow canine friend but would also be perfectly content as the only dog in the home. Belarus is very people‑oriented and likes to stay close to her humans. She keeps her kennel clean, though she can be a bit whiny at times, so a quieter home (rather than an apartment, townhome, or condo) would likely suit her best. She does better in a plastic kennel, as she has figured out how to escape a wire crate. When left out for a few hours, she’s done well—occasional accidents happen, but nothing unusual for a foster dog adjusting to a new routine. At night, she can sleep in her kennel or outside of it—she’s comfortable either way. She has no food aggression and is generally a polite, affectionate girl. When she gets excited, she may jump up or give enthusiastic licks, but both are easily managed with a little guidance. Belarus appears to be potty trained but may have accidents if left alone too long or if her cues to go outside are missed. With consistency and attention, she’ll continue to improve. Belarus is a sweet, loyal companion who thrives on human connection and a calm environment. She’s ready for a family who will appreciate her gentle nature and help her continue to blossom. To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org April 16, 2026, 10:30 pm
