Yes, on a dog-by-dog basis.Has this dog lived with cats? Unknown. [The Lycoming County SPCA does not “cat test” dogs per the Association of Shelter Veterinarian’s Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters.]---What volunteers have to say about this animal:Meet Goose – From Shut Down to ShineWhen Goose first came to the shelter, he was a different dog—unsure of people, defensive, and deeply wary of human touch. Thanks to the patience, consistency, and love of staff and volunteers, Goose has blossomed into a joyful, affectionate, and downright irresistible companion. Now? This boy throws himself into your arms for snuggles, politely takes treats, and loves showing off his commands—“sit,” “boop,” and more. On walks, he’s an attentive, enthusiastic partner who checks in often, even if he sometimes pulls when something exciting catches his nose. Some of Goose’s Best Qualities:-A true snugglebug who leans in close for affection-Knows his commands and is eager to please-Energetic, playful, and always up for fun-A happy, attentive walker who loves adventures-Improving every day in play manners with other dogsHe’s not without quirks—he may chase his tail when overstimulated, or get a little too excited during play—but he’s learning to self-regulate and signals clearly when he needs a break. With guidance and continued structure, Goose thrives.Goose Would Do Best In a Home With:-Kids 14+ who can handle his size and energy-Possibly another dog—one who can keep up with his playful, high-energy style-A family who will celebrate his goofy, affectionate spirit and continue his journey of growthAt 4 years old and 71 pounds, Goose is the best of both worlds—mature enough to know his manners, but young enough to keep life fun and full of energy. And just look at him—those bright eyes, big smile, and handsome brindle coat say it all.Goose has already proven that with love and patience, he can bloom. Now he’s ready to do the same in a forever home.---Condensed Staff Assessment Notes: Goose is an energetic and playful dog who has shown improvement with the help of staff and volunteers. He tends to pull on the leash when eager to reach certain objects or scents but walks pol

This medium-sized American Pit Bull Terrier mix (around 60 pounds) is still finding his footing in the noisy shelter world—but give him a little patience, and you’ll see the warm, goofy side that’s waiting just beneath the surface. When he first arrived, Zeus was hesitant to approach new people. But once outside, he walked beautifully on leash, taking comfort in quiet surroundings and gentle voices. He’s learning that the world isn’t so scary, and every day he grows a little braver—especially when tennis balls or tug ropes are involved! What Zeus Loves Most:- Chasing tennis balls and playing gentle games of tug-of-war- Calm, kind people who let him go at his own pace- Earning treats for showing off his tricks—he knows “sit,” “wait,” and even “shake!”What Zeus’s Ideal Home Looks Like:- Children 12+ who understand shy dogs- Possibly another dog, on a dog-by-dog basis- Comfortable with cats—he’s lived with them before- A quiet, reassuring home that will help him build confidence day by dayOnce Zeus feels safe, his tail starts to wag, his eyes brighten, and he leans in for those ear rubs he’s come to love. He’s a tenderhearted dog who just needs the right people to show him that love and safety are here to stay.---Condensed Staff Assessment Notes: Zeus is somewhat reserved around unfamiliar people but has made progress in overcoming his fears. Given time, he will approach on his own and prefers to interact with other dogs. He shows a strong desire to play while generally behaving appropriately.During walks, Zeus enjoyed himself more and startled less at outside noises, walking well on a leash. Inside, he showed less stability around everyday objects but recovered quickly and willingly approached when called. He responded positively to handling and command

He can be a little reserved when meeting new people, but once he knows you? To bond. To learn. To breathe deeper in a place where the days are quieter, the toys are plentiful, and the kindness is steady.---Condensed Staff Assessment Notes: Fog is an energetic and playful dog who needs training in leash manners, as he tends to pull and zigzag. Story
Nova is 4 years old blue nose pitbull. Very active dog. Loves to run around the yard and play with huge sticks and other dogs. He doesn’t know how big he is, he will come running towards you like a freight train. He is great around kids, he will lick them to death if he could. I wish I could keep him but it wouldn’t be fair to him. I have too young girls that keep me busy with sports, etc and he doesn’t get the attention he deserves.

Story
Ellie is alittle over a year old, purebred pit bull who has been living with me since September 15th. She came to me from a family who was moving away and could not take her with them, and Ive been fostering her on my own alongside my animals. Ellie is a big lover girl. Shes great with kids, gets along well with my pets & others, has a playful, affectionate personality. At first the kennel seemed more dangerous then good for her but after chewing some things I decided to work on it more, She trys to break out so I am using a rachet strap to secure the doors. I give her bones and a filled kong to help keep her busy but she drools a lot still. (She was kenneled with 2 other dogs so she struggles to be alone). Shes doing great! She is very good with a shock collar, I use beep and vibrate only usually! Ellie received her shots/microchipped on November 22nd and WILL BE fixed January 8th at the SPCA Clinic & get her dog license, making her ready for her forever home! Negotiate Rehome fee
