Story
Hi, I’m Maxwell. Most people call me Max or Maxy though, and my foster family has nicknamed me Goob (short for Goober). I was almost euthanized in the shelter because I wasn’t feeling great and wouldn’t walk, but then the nice girls at BBAR found a foster for me and gave me a second chance. At first they thought I was a hospice foster and only had a few months to live - boy did I show them they were wrong! I went through some testing and it was confirmed that I do have hepatozoonosis (a super rare tick-borne disease) - unfortunately I’ll have it the rest of my life. But that doesn’t stop me from living! With a simple anti inflammatory regime, joint supplement food, and a patient & loving foster family that keeps me active at my pace - I actually went into remission! I feel great most days and enjoy being active, but do have an occasional flare up that makes me a little stiff & achy.   I LOVE kids & ‘my people’ - I’ve learned to LOVE walkies - I LOVE a snuggly couch with blankets - and who wouldn’t LOVE treats?! I know how to sit, give paw, come when called, and go in my crate when it’s time. I’m super smart, super sweet, super goofy, and a super good boy. Oh, and I’m potty trained! My mom says that I’m “dog friendly” with the right dog. I wouldn’t do well in a dog park (too overwhelming & scary), but I do really like to say hi to new friends on walks. I’d need a little bit of patience & time to feel safe in a home with another dog. My foster brother is submissive, chill & respects my boundaries when I’m not feeling well or just don’t want to play - and we get along GREAT (he’s my BFF ).  I am fully vetted, AKA I've had my yearly vaccines, monthly prevention, and have been neutered and microchipped. I also completed my heartworm treatment. If you’re looking for a goofy, smiley dog that’s low maintenance and enjoys slow walks, thrives on couch snuggles, loves his person, and is an all-around good boy - we might be a good match. Meet and greets and adoption trials are available! Apply at: BridgeBetweenAnimalRescue.org/adopt

Story
Meet Olive! Olive is our real-life teddy bear. This girl was found out in the woods with her her 7 puppies. She did a great job caring for them despite being outside in winter. The puppies all survived and have all found their forever families. Olive has received her vaccinations, spay surgery, and microchip. She is up to date on prevention. She is heartworm positive but has already started her treatment. We are doing the "slow kill" treatment method for her heart worms so she can be adopted now and her recheck will be in about 9 months. Olive is fostered with other dogs and LOVES her furry siblings. She really enjoys snuggles on a soft dog bed or couch. She is low energy and easy going. This girl is a BIG lover of snuggles and affection. She's also built so much confidence on the leash and out in public. The only thing Olive doesn't love is being alone - can you blame her? We would prefer she is adopted to a home with at least one other dog as a companion for when the humans are gone. She is the best girl and is ready for her forever home! Story
Brady is a sweet boy who is just a big baby and thinks he’s a small lap dog. He loves sprinklers and hoses but not fond of a bath. He was rescued from a puppy mill and was with a family with small children that just couldn’t give him the life he needs and deserves. We have taken him in since then and it was never our intention to keep him forever. He is crate trained for meals and sleep. He would thrive in a home that has older children middle school and above as he is skittish and can be easily irritated by the behaviors and sounds of small children. He needs a home that is very active and committed to walks/runs. He is a great addition to the right family! My adoption fee is to ensure someone is serious about giving me a wonderful home and life!

Story
Someone, please give Stanley the happy ending he's been waiting for. 🤎 It's hard to believe that this incredible boy has been with us since February... and somehow, he has had little to no interest. When Stanley first came into our care, he was found as a stray on the side of the road in heartbreaking condition. He was severely emaciated, exhausted, and clearly had been through more than any dog ever should. Despite everything life had thrown at him, Stanley never stopped being gentle. He never stopped trusting people. He simply waited for someone to show him kindness. Thanks to an amazing foster family, that's exactly what happened. Over the past several months, Stanley has completely transformed. He gained the healthy weight he desperately needed, saw a veterinary cardiologist to ensure he received the best possible care, started the right medications, successfully completed treatment for heartworm disease, and has absolutely blossomed into the happiest, healthiest version of himself. Today, Stanley is thriving. He's the definition of an old soul—calm, gentle, and simply happy to be near the people he loves. He doesn't ask for much. A soft bed. A sunny spot in the yard to soak up the sunshine. A cozy couch. A family to love. Stanley is: 🐾 Wonderful with other dogs. 🐾 Absolutely adores children and is incredibly gentle with them. 🐾 Completely trustworthy when left home alone—he's non-destructive and has wonderful house manners. 🐾 A professional sunbather who could happily spend hours lounging outside before coming in for a long nap. 🐾 Sweet, affectionate, and endlessly grateful for every bit of love he receives. The only thing Stanley asks is for a home without cats. We truly cannot say enough wonderful things about this boy. He has every quality people say they're looking for—a calm temperament, great manners, a loving personality, and an easygoing nature. Yet somehow, day after day, application after application, Stanley continues to be overlooked. Maybe it's because he's older. Maybe it's because he's not a tiny puppy anymore. Maybe it's because black dogs are so often passed by. Whatever the reason, it doesn't change the fact that Stanley deserves a family just as much as any puppy who walks through our doors. He's done the hard part. He's survived being abandoned. He's fought through his medical treatments. He's learned what it feels like to be loved again. Now he just needs someone who will make that love permanent. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will happily spend his days by your side, greet you with the sweetest smile, and remind you every single day how grateful rescue dogs are, Stanley is your guy. Please help us share Stanley's story. We know his perfect family is out there—we just need to help them find him.
