Story
I`m a sweet guy who is ready to be a part of your family :)I know basic commands, I`m potty trained and per my last owners, I`m great with kid`s! The shelter environment makes me nervous but once I`m outside of the kennel, you can easily tell how big of a sweetheart I truly am. Since being at the shelter, my lovely staff has learned that I have skin allergies. However, don`t let that scare you! Regular vet appointments will help that. I need someone that is looking for a cuddle buddy for the entire family! I am good with dogs, but never met a cat. My staff believes I would do good with a cat with a proper introduction due to my gentle nature. Can`t wait to meet you!

Story
Meet Benson, a 2-year-old mixed breed with a sweet nature and lots of potential. Benson is a loving boy who truly wants to bond with his people and be part of a family. Benson does best in a home that can provide structure, consistency, and clear boundaries. He thrives when he understands expectations and has guidance to help him succeed. He was returned after lunging at male guests in the home, so he will most likely do best in a home without male residents. With proper training, patience, and positive reinforcement, this behavior can absolutely be worked on and improved. Because Benson appreciates having his space respected, he should go home with older children who understand how to interact appropriately and read his cues. The good news? Benson likes other dogs and may enjoy having a canine companion. He also loves his toys and is happiest when he has something fun to carry around or chew on. Continued training will help him build confidence and polish his manners, and he’ll flourish with someone committed to helping him grow. If you’re looking for a loyal companion and are willing to provide the structure and training he needs, Benson could be a wonderful addition to your home.

Story
Meet Rumor, a 4-year-old Pit Bull mix with a big heart and an even bigger personality. This sweet boy has so much love to give and isn’t shy about showing it. Rumor will likely need to be the only dog in the home, though he may do well with a smaller, submissive dog after proper introductions. He thrives when he can relax and feel secure in his space. One of the cutest things about Rumor is how he proudly shows off his toys when he gets excited. He’ll grab one and parade it around as if to say, “Look what I’ve got!” It’s his special way of sharing his happiness with you. When playtime is over, he’s more than content to curl up on his cozy bed and enjoy a good nap. Rumor also loves going on walks and exploring the outdoors. Whether it’s a quiet stroll around the neighborhood or time spent taking in new sights and smells, he’s happiest when he’s by your side. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who will proudly show you his toys and then snuggle up for a nap, Rumor may be the perfect addition to your home.

Story
Meet Nala, a 6-year-old chunky retired mama and proud Staffordshire Pit who is ready to enjoy the easy life she deserves. This sweet girl was surrendered due to her owner moving overseas — absolutely no fault of her own. She’s simply looking for a new family to love. Nala is wonderful with children and plays gently with kids of all ages. She has a calm, patient nature that makes her a fantastic family companion. She’s also friendly with other dogs and enjoys having canine friends around. True to her former owner’s description, Nala is a total couch potato. She loves nothing more than snuggling up beside you and soaking in all the affection she can get. Her chunky build just makes her cuddles that much better! Nala does have some separation anxiety, but with consistency, reassurance, and a little guidance, it’s something that can be worked on easily. She bonds closely with her people and simply loves being near them. If you’re looking for a gentle, affectionate, family-friendly snuggle bug, Nala may be the perfect addition to your home.

Story
Meet Champ, a sweet senior boy who was transferred to Norfolk SPCA all the way from Tennessee in hopes of finding his forever family here. He’s ready for a fresh start and a cozy place to call home. Don’t let the “senior” title fool you — Champ is super playful and absolutely loves spending time with his toys. He still has plenty of pep in his step and would happily join you for a morning trip to the dog park before heading home to nap the day away while you binge-watch your favorite TV shows. The best of both worlds! Because he was transferred from out of state, much of Champ’s previous history is unknown. However, the staff made sure he received a full medical evaluation so he’s ready to begin his next chapter. He does have mild inflammation related to some broken or worn teeth, and this will likely need ongoing care to keep him comfortable and healthy. Champ is open to meeting other dogs and children to see how things go. With proper introductions and a loving home, he’s eager to settle in and be someone’s loyal companion. If you’re looking for a fun-loving senior who can balance playtime with serious couch time, Champ just might be your guy.

Story
Meet Boomer! Boomer is an adorable pit mix who’s almost 3 years old and ready to find his forever home. With his sweet face and gentle personality, it doesn’t take long to fall in love with this handsome guy. Boomer is incredibly friendly and cuddly with people — he absolutely adores human attention and would happily spend his evenings snuggled up right next to you on the couch. He has a super relaxed, easygoing vibe and enjoys just hanging out with his favorite humans. That said, like many dogs, he’ll need a little time to decompress and settle into a new household so he can feel safe and secure. He does well with other dogs and could thrive in a home with a canine companion. However, Boomer isn’t a fan of cats, so he’ll need a cat-free household. Boomer is crate trained, which is a great foundation! He does experience some separation anxiety, so he’ll need a patient adopter willing to help him continue building confidence when left alone. With consistency and love, he has so much potential to grow. He has some minor skin allergies that are easily treatable and manageable — nothing that slows him down from enjoying life. When it’s playtime, Boomer lights up! Tug-of-war is one of his absolute favorite games, and he would love a family ready to engage in some fun bonding time. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, and laid-back companion who just wants to love and be loved, Boomer might be your perfect match.

Story
Stella is an Old English bulldog from a reputable breeder. She has had impeccable health for her breed. She is still young at heard and nimble, even at 9 years old. She loves nothing more than sleeping all day and leisurely walks. She is the best cuddler. She is great with people, though she is unpredictable around small children, hence why she needs a new home. She is also unpredictable with other dogs. She has one brother dog that she lived with, but they did have some scuffles from time to time. She needs to be an only-dog with no small children. Any home that meets that criteria would adore Stella for the sweetheart companion that she is.

Story
Meet Buddy, a lovable 5-year-old Boxer mix with a heart as big as his adorable, expressive ears. Those ears are truly the cutest — always perked up and ready to listen, especially when you’re talking to him. His sweet, affectionate personality shines through in everything he does. Buddy can be dog selective, so he would do best as the only dog in the home or with calm introductions. He thrives when he has clear boundaries and structure. Buddy would do best in a household with older children who understand how to respect his space and allow him time to feel comfortable. This handsome boy is also quite the jumper! For his safety, he will need a home with a tall, secure fenced-in yard where he can play and stretch his legs without worry. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion with personality, charm, and the cutest ears around, Buddy might just be your perfect match.
