You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Shiloh’s favorite  activities are going for a walks, being outside and playtime. She is also very affectionate. We cannot wait to help her find her Furever family!    Shiloh is good with other dogs and kids! She has not been cat tested.   She loves ALL treats and chew toys.    Shiloh is working on basic training with her foster family. She is also working on the crate right now and her foster mom says it is going very well!    She is super playful & sweet. She is an energetic girl, so an active family would be good for her.    Shiloh is still learning about life so she can be a bit shy around new people at first, but she warms up quickly. Her ideal adoptive family will have someone who is patient and willing to work with her as well.   If you think Shiloh is the right match for your family, apply to adopt her today! If Shiloh left paw prints on your heart but you aren’t able to adopt her, please share her information on social media and consider donating towards her care while she waits to be adopted. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Say "hello" to our sweet Sheba! At 12 years young, this gentle and even-tempered gal found herself at a local shelter along with another dog after their previous people were evicted from their home. Sheba was brought into the loving folds of The Furever Project soon thereafter (the other pup was pulled by another rescue), and she is thriving in her foster home. Sheba is always excited to meet people, and she makes fast friends with everyone she encounters. She also likes other dogs and has done well with the dogs she's interacted with, including the test dog at the shelter and the 10-year-old male pup she previously lived with. (She hasn't been cat tested yet, so we don't know how she is with kitties.) Sheba is housebroken, well behaved in a crate, and fairly good on a leash. She's also a perfect passenger on car rides, although she needs some assistance with getting into vehicles. Sheba seems to be hard of hearing, so her foster mom has been working with her on some commands using hand signals. So far, she knows "sit" and "stay." As Sheba is food-motivated and enjoys her training treats (as well as the occasional carrot or two!), we're sure that she'll pick up more commands in no time! Sheba's foster mom reports that she's a pretty relaxed dog. She's not "in your face" like younger dogs can sometimes be, but she's always happy to be near people. Sheba isn't a loud dog, either, although she occasionally tries to communicate by "mumbling," as her foster mom describes it. (It's quirky and adorable!) One of Sheba's favorite activities is taking a long nap on her dog bed or the sofa. She also enjoys being outside — whether she's just hanging out, or going on a walk. (Sometimes, she's enjoying herself so much, that it's necessary to coax her back inside.) Sheba has sampled various toys, but she still hasn't chosen a favorite. She likes to sit down with a Nylabone or rawhide-type chew sometimes, and she also enjoys playing tug with a rope toy. She hasn't picked up any stuffed toys — yet. (She's keeping her foster mom in suspense!) What it all comes down to is that Sheba (just like every other dog) deserves an individual or a family who will spoil her and shower her with love for the rest of her happy, new life. Could that be you?? If so, please submit an adoption application for her today!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 18, 2024, 9:57 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Penny’s looks are striking and if that weren’t enough, she has the most adorable head tilt. Some of Penny’s favorite things are being on the receiving end of lots of petting and affection, enjoying the great outdoors while running around in the backyard, going for walks, chewing on her chew bones, and playing with her toys (this girl REALLY loves to play). And, because of Penny’s love for the great outdoors (and because she’s in such great shape) we think she would make a terrific hiking partner. When it comes to training, Penny is the trifecta. She loves treats, she’s intelligent, and she’s eager to please which makes training easy and fun. Since coming to TFP, Penny and her foster mom have worked with a private trainer getting down the basics. Sometimes when Penny sees unfamiliar dogs or people, she may bark until she gets to know them. However, once she warms up, everyone is her friend especially when they shower her with lots of petting (as mentioned, one of Penny’s favorite things). Penny and her foster mom have been working one-on-one with a trainer teaching Penny to look to her foster mom for guidance in situations involving unfamiliar people and/or dogs. Both Penny and her foster mom have done great with this training. As we’ve said, Penny loves to play. There are times when Penny can become a little overzealous playing. Because of this it is probably best if she were in a home with older, dog savvy children and not children who may not be steady on their feet. Penny is crate trained and she has THE best crate manners. She’s polite and easy when asked to crate. Once crated, she’s quiet and quite content. Penny is known to voluntary go into her crate for some chill time and to relax when she wants a break from the hustle and bustle of family life/activity. Penny is completely housebroken. She will let you know when she needs to go outside to go “potty” by either following you around the house or waiting by the door.  If you think Penny sounds like a match for your family, fill out an application to make her a member of yours! Her foster mom says one of Dior's best qualities is that she just wants to give love and to be love. She loves her people and loves spending time with them. Dior has been around kids of various ages and is very good with them. Previously, Dior did live with a cat and the two got along well. If you have a cat, we would test Dior with your kitty to be sure the two would be friends. Dior is energetic and loves being active. She loves her walks and being outdoors and we think she'd make an excellent hiking partner or walking companion for helping you get in those daily steps. Dior's favorite game is tug. Currently, her favorite toy is a small rubber wheel which she can amuse herself with for hours. Dior is working on mastering her basic commands. She is currently enrolled in a group training class which starts in January. Dior is treat motivated making training with Dior easy and fun. Dior is crate trained and housebroken. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Everyone that meets Nina gets lost in her beautiful, captivating eyes! If her eyes don’t get you, her beautiful coloring will. Nina had a rough start in life. She was dropped at a local shelter after she tested positive for parvo. Unfortunately, while not needed, she was kept in isolation at the shelter for several months. Basically, what this means is Nina’s social skills are running about 4-months behind.  She will need someone who understands her and is patient. Nina has two sides. “Cuddle bug” Nina and “wild child” Nina. Which Nina you get depends on the amount of exercise she’s had. We feel Nina will be most successful in an active home where she will get daily walks, ball playing, or other similar type exercise. We think Nina could excel at agility. Once Nina has had her morning exercise, cuddle bug Nina comes out. In Nina’s foster home she lives with a doggy foster brother and sister. She can be a little nervous meeting new dogs until proper introductions so to help Nina’s comfort level when meeting new dogs, slow introductions are best to ensure success. Nina does love the great outdoors. With patience and training, she could excel participating in high-energy activities such as hiking, backpacking, jogging, bike riding, trick training, and playing frisbee. We think Nina will make an all-around great outdoor companion. If you’re not a high-level energy activity person, walks and ball playing will give Nina what she needs as far as exercise. Nina loves meeting new people and does well in most social situations. She has successfully been around children and has done well with them. However, because Nina is still very young and has “over the top” moments of excitement (before exercising), we do recommend older children who are steady on their feet and not prone to being knocked down by excited doggy behavior. Nina is absolutely awesome in the car. She would make a great co-pilot and travel partner and, temperatures permitting, she would love to keep you company while running errands around town. Of all that is not enough, Nina is completely potty, and crate trained! Nina will not do well with cats.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 18, 2024, 9:57 pm

Story
Cinder is a 9 year old boxer mix I rescued about 7 years ago from a a very traumatic past. With me, she spends her days resting but loves to roam around the yard when the weather permits. Her ideal day is to relax and be loved, and she is lovable. She is not much of a barker although barks for someone at the door from time to time. She is fully house broken and up to date with vaccinations. She is crate trained although doesn’t need one, she listens when sent to her bed. She is timid but feels very comfortable removing herself from anything she’s not comfortable with. If I am cleaning or rearranging, she goes to a quiet place. We don’t walk as the yard is fenced in. She does fine on a leash but will gently pull from time to time. She is about as low maintenance as a dog can be and would do great in a quiet environment. I will be travelling abroad extensively in the years to come and would rather find her a new loving home than have a lot of people tending to her in my absence.

She is well mannered and good protector. Look at that SMILE; She absolutely LOVES people! She does needs to be an only dog but that isn't a big thing. She gets along ok with those other furry friends called felines. So if you have a dog savvy cat, Maggie would like to meet you! She is a fun loving, roll in the grass, life of the party, cuddle bug girl who knows a good thing when she sees it! Her estimated age is 7 years old. So you know you skip all the craziness of puppyhood, like crate training, potty training, chewing on everything, and you get a the liviliness without all the puppy training. If interested in giving this girl a loving and happy home or want more info on Maggie, contact Heritage Animal Hospital at (919) 435-1978. When people think of Snow, they think cold. With this Snow, picture warmth, love, and cuddles. This five year old, just shy of fifty pound sweetheart is all about her people. She has bursts of play but is mainly a calm dog. She is all about being by her person and wanting the love. Now, for men, some she loves and some she has to take a minute to relax around.  Snow currently lives with an 80 pound male and a 23 pound female companion. She can be a sassy thing and wants what she wants - a tiny bit of a diva in there. She has met other playful dogs and done well. She also has hung out with another 100 pound male lab. Took her a second to realize he was a lover not a fighter but they are now fast friends. Snow needs a six foot privacy fence for her backyard space. Now who wants Snow to be your cuddle buddy for many years to come! If you are interested in adopting Snow, please fill out an application today!February 22, 2024, 9:29 pm
